I am always fascinated by such trivia as this.

I just bought/ received the new collectors guide by Axel.
And apparently there are two versions:
Version 1; Produced only in 2004 and with a insignia on the hat
Version 2; Produced from 2004 - 2006 and without a insignia on the hat.

That means there's another one I have to go after ...

I will have to check mine,

I do know that the 1st one I got does have an Insignia, which I think is  2 swords crossed, I wonder if they are all the same?

I certainly hope that boxes display this difference.
I just checked the ones in my collectioni and the boxes indicate an insignia in the hat

If I interpret the Guide correctly; it should be on the box as well.

Now, I need to find some without the insignia for my collection  ;)

That should be easier then finding one with insignia... according to collector's guide.

Good luck hunting!

Thats good to know.
I guess its good that I grab up specials as soon as I can, to keep my collection complete.

Since I dont have Axel's newest edition, this is something I am glad you shared with us.
Otherwise, I would never have known

Thank you, Mark (or is it Marc - I am really bad at remembering those things)

... Mark (or is it Marc - ...) ...

You're welcome  ;)

BTW - I will react to both; but the first one is the correct one.

After selling my original ones I have since been going around the web to buy up any that are left. I ordered 40 from one shop only to be informed that they just had two left. I have managed to pick up 17 so far but all without the badage. But on the bright side this means I will be able to build two different regiments with-out a single conversion. It will just be a small matter of cost.. Hope my wife understands Regards EDWINMODELS

Well I found 8 of my 4622 Confederate specials and 6 have the insignia  and obviously 2 don't. The insignia is not 2 swords crossed like I thought it was but 2 rifles crossed.

The hats in the boxes with the Insignia are just plain, so obviously the contents on the box front are not what you get inside, but the Image of the contents on the back show the hat as being plain.

I wonder if people rang up complaining about getting plain hats in their boxes so Playmobil airbrushed the insignia out to shut them up? ;D

OK, I am a bit peeved.

I opened all but one of my confederate specials
While the boxes all display the imprint on the hat, NONE of the specials had the insignia.

Now, I am wondering if the ones with insignias even made it to the US.

I would like to get a 2 boxes of the plain hat
And two of the ones with WITH the insignia

Going down the road feeling sad,
Meg

I don't think any of the boxes had hats with the Insignia actually in them, I think the only difference is the box front image and not the contents. The hat used is from the set 3306 Union Soldiers and obviously just made in another colour, perhaps for the prototype on the box front image. Once the set went into production they might of made a new mould without the Insignia and that's possibly why the box back image of the contents shows the plain hat.

Anyway that's my theory and until someone can come up with a genuine hat in grey with the insignia (and not a painted one from 3306) I'm not going to start panicking just yet.

Going down the road feeling sad,
Meg

I think that bunch that was shipped to the US was version 2, but in the version 1 box.
