Title: Pictures of the entire PCIAFD apparatus lineup.
Post by: Bill Blackhurst on December 07, 2010, 14:36:54
Hello again everyone! This is the final photo story showing the Playmobil City International Airport Fire Department's apparatus that have been in various stages of customization, & refurbish projects for nearly 1 & 1/2 years. All of the projects are finally complete & have been assigned to their appropriate stations at the Playmobil City International Airport. In the future, these vehicles will be featured in upcoming airport photo stories showing them in their working environment. The following pictures are showing the entire fleet together at one time now that they are all complete. I hope you like the end & beginning of this long project chapter featuring the 3526 & 3525 Playmobil fire trucks. BTW, as noted in each past customization photo story, all custom 3526 vehicles can be converted to their original status if replacement parts can be found to do so. In other words none of the custom work shown is permanent.

Thank you very much Panos, for the positive comments! To answer your question, the only parts that may be painted are the light grey parts if they were severely discolored & bleaching in H2O2 didn't help. All red cab & compartment sections are carefully sanded & buffed with a polishing wheel removing scratches & blemishes.

polishing wheel. I hadn't thought of that. I have a few scratched and scuffed pieces, including my precious white elephant. I'll have to see what I can do.

Your lineup does indeed look really sharp, Bill. Sounds like your airport is very well prepared for the worst-case scenario.

Polishing wheel is indeed a brilliant idea!!!

Thank you bb! A word of advise, first lightly sand the surface with wet or dry sand paper in various grits before using the polishing wheel on a high speed drill with automotive polishing compound cream. You may even want to try using a heat gun to heat the surface after sanding to blend the damaged area, but be very careful! If you want to send your elephant to me for a refurbish project just let me know, my hospital can handle it too with no problem ;)! BTW, don't worry about me putting her through the CAT SCAN for fun, 'cause she won't fit !

Yeah, I don't think I would start with the precious elephant first.  ::) I'll practice on one of my numerous extra lions or giraffes first. (I don't know how I ended up with so many) Thanks for the advice! I'll have to see what I can do. Have to get chris a dremel first...

This is a stunning array, Bill.  :yup:  What care and patience you have taken with each and every piece.  This is truly a work of love.  I can see why you like the fire, hospital and emergency themes, there is so much to work with.  Thank you for sharing your pictures.

Thank you for your positive review, Joe! I have to admit that the 3526 & 3525 fire trucks are my favorite ones to work with! Especially the 3526 that in my opinion is the most versatile & easiest to modify. It still makes my heart beat fast if I find a 3526 fire engine for sale in an auction :inlove:! Most 3526's that I have gotten have been in bad condition, not complete, broken, etc. :'(, but with patience & persistence anything is possible :)9!

That's quite the department Bill.  Now all they need is an airliner to slide off the runway and burst into flames, or better yet, to hit a couple other planes and they all burst into flames... um, yeah.  <*)

Wow, they're gorgeous.  I can't wait to see them in action.  Last night I put together the 4821 fire truck my son just got for his birthday, and can only imagine how much fun it must be to have a whole fleet of fire trucks.

Congratulations on a great purchase :)9! Having well over one hundred assorted Playmobil fire vehicles personally, is a dream come true for me :cloud9:! Your choice of the 4821 is a superb selection, & is one on my future lists of acquisition! I warn you that this may become an addiction like LAY'S Potato Chips, nobody can eat just one !

Thank you bw! I wish there were other collectors with the same interests as mine that lived in my area, so we could get together for large projects like the ones I have planned in the future!

I notice, Bill, that the 4820 TL is reduced to £29.99, down £10 from the usual web price.

Thank you for the heads up on pricing Gordon, I'd really like having some of the new series, however I've been using all of my PM funding lately on Christmas gifts for my family, so no PM for me <*)!

Let me know if you need anything for your projects, & maybe we can trade or I may have some extra's! When I say trade I mean if you need something that I have refurbished, I will trade your bad ones for ones that are refurbished, as we say in the states a core exchange.

WOW!!

As always Playmobil is cool, but in large numbers it is SO MUCH COOLER!!!

I also can't wait for the first major accident to happen at the airport...to see both your fire fleet and Hospital at their peek performance.

Thanks for sharing the pictures of your excellent collection!

PS For some reason it doesn't sit well to wish for accidents...oh well!

Thank you for the kind comments Gis! Don't worry, it's OK to wish for accidents when only toys are involved ;)!

I know chris wishes for escaped gorillas and children falling into bear exhibits at my zoo so his rescue workers will have something to do!  ;)

Well, our kitchen remodel is almost finished, now we're about to remodel a bathroom (new sheetrock, tub surround, vanity) and we have to paint pretty much every room in the house. When all that settles down, I'm hoping to have time to set up my zoo again. Hopefully February.

Yes, the folding table should come out of the living room tomorrow, the boxes are dwindling down, and we can almost walk around in the house now. So things are looking up.  :)9

P.S. Sorry, Bill! We've kind of strayed off topic.  :-[
