Well, this is my first attempt at making a bronze statue for my zoo. I used krylon fusion hammered copper paint, actually, but I kind of like the effect. What does everyone think?

Sorry for the poor quality of the pics. :-[

ok now i see why your husband feels uncomfortable with his hero statues!!! This is an amazing paintjob Bonnie!!!
Will it be decorating your zoo entrance or central square?
-
It’s nice.

It's a great result, Bonnie. But it's too bad the groove between the two halves of the head and the body shows up so much. Maybe you should have filled it with resin before painting.(I know it's better to give any advice BEFORE).
Cheers,
Arnaud

Nice work, Bonnie. It would look great at the centre of the zoo area.

Great Work Bonnie!! LOL we were planning to do a Lion :-) I guess we are very much in sink with our ideas... :-)

wow! great efect Bonnie! I can't wait to see your zoo with that central piece!!
-
Wow I really like this :yup:
Are you going to do any more?
Damo :)

Thanks everybody! Yes, it is going to be in the central entry area of my zoo. But I am planning to do other smaller animals to distribute around the zoo, as is the trend in real zoos right now.
@ cowabounga: Yes, that is why I don't like the new style elephant nearly as well as the old; the seam down the middle is very prominant on both adult and baby. I used a new style one for this because I didn't know if it would turn out well or not, and didn't want to mess up one of my precious old style ones. I have a lot of the new ones. Also the new ones are very easy to completely take apart. But I am thinking of filling it and then spraying another coat on after. it's windy and raining here today, but when the weather clears, I'll try it and post a pic.
@Gis:  I guess we're both on trend with modern zoos! Too bad we live halfway around the world from each other. it would be fun to do a collaborative project!

Very, very nice, Bonnie! (And, the pictures are great!)

That looks great. A little hand-brushed green to represent oxidation patina might be nice too.

yes indeed! good thinking!

Yeah, that is a good idea! On the other hand, I do want my zoo to look well-maintained. :P I'll have to think about it... maybe it would be like smearing mud on my elephants because that's the way they usually look!

This is a lovely job, Bonniebeth. I find spray painting to be a real challenge and you did a great job. I can't wait to see it in place at your zoo!
