I had a great time yesterday. The 5301 mansion and the 7782 pavilion came last week in the mail and I finally had time to open them. Ever since Gaston showed pictures of his mansion and asked if you could merge the pavilion and the mansion, my mind has been racing (in a good way!)
I used some 5301 parts that I got as a bonus in an EBay lot a few months ago and some 5300 parts.
patio floor section (30 64 1090)
center base unit (30 24 9650)
two triple female wall connectors (30 24 9700)
seven black railings (30 05 7280)
4 straight black railing connectors (30 05 7300)
2 black corner railing connectors (30 05 7310)
3 unit wall with door and windows (optional)
The rest of the parts were included as part of the mansion and pavilion.
First I connected the 4 base units, three from the mansion and the one extra (30 24 9650) unit. Then I took one of the large open frame wall units (30 26 2410) from the pavilion and removed the trim from the top and bottom using a combination of chisel and dremel. I originally thought that I could use the open wall unit (30 05 702) from a 5300, but it didn’t have the side openings at the top to accomodate the 2nd floor unit of the mansion.
-
The next step was to attach a triple female wall connector (30 24 9700) to the front wall and attach the open wall unit in the floor channel. I then added the three pavilion walls and ended with another triple female wall connector.
-
I secured the 2nd storey floor and placed the patio floor section (30 64 1090) on the pavilion walls. I finished up by attaching the fence base from the pavilion and some black railings to match the ones on the roof of the 5301 mansion. I was fortunate to have an extra 3 unit wall with door and windows from my stash, but the blank wall provided would have worked just as well.
-
These are some pictures of the finished house. I think I went a bit overboard with the extra floors, but I sure had a good time assembling everything. ;D

Well done :gent:! Your creation reminds me of the original 5300 & 5305 Victorian houses :)9! Thanks for sharing your triumph :thanks:!

Wow!..Very well done, Basilsdad.
-
Joe this is fantastic!! Very well done!!

so other than the pavillion and the mansion, excluding the extra stories, what do i need to complete one? the only thing i can tell is an extra wall with door and windows for the entrance to the pavillion patio.
what else exactly?
nice idea, nice alternative to shelling out my pension just to get a 5300. I'll definitely do this instead
-
That's great I love the result! Im glad I started this in your head!!!  But now I see it done...I want one!!! :'(

To complete the project you will need . . .
1 patio floor section (30 64 1090)
1 center base unit (30 24 9650)
2 triple female wall connectors (30 24 9700)
7 black railings (30 05 7280)
4 straight black railing connectors (30 05 7300)
2 black corner railing connectors (30 05 7310)
1 3 unit wall with door and windows (optional)
Hope you have as much fun as I did. ;D

I don't own either of these yet, but have my sights on some that are still on the local shelf, so I don't know off hand what parts they already come with. Just tryina figure out what EXTRA parts I will need to find to make it work:
I know for sure I will need to locate an extra wall with a door if I want the roof patio to have a door, but....
Does not the Pavillion itself already come with:
1 patio floor section, and
6 black railings (meaning I'd have to locate an only 1 extra railing )?
And will the base unit that comes with the Pavillion work with this setup? Or do I have to find an extra mansion base unit to expand it seperately? (since I'm guessing the Pavillion base is too big on it's own, since it seems to cover the length of the pavillion AND the patio together?)
And as far as the female connectors and the black railing connectors, do they already come in sufficient amounts between the Pavillion and Mansion sets? Or would I have to locate extra connectors in addition to both sets?
Thanks in advance again for your help!
And awesome ideas and work again, both you and inspirational Gaston.

 BlackPearl,
1 patio floor section (30 64 1090)
1 center base unit (30 24 9650)
2 triple female wall connectors (30 24 9700)
7 black railings (30 05 7280)
4 straight black railing connectors (30 05 7300)
2 black corner railing connectors (30 05 7310)
1 3 unit wall with door and windows (optional)
The above items do not come (or come in sufficient numbers) with either the mansion or the pavilion. The patio floor comes from an original 5300 mansion. You get one center base unit with the 5301 mansion, but you will need an additional one, as the base units that come with the pavilion do not have two open ends. The 5301 mansion comes with 2 triple female connectors to connect the front walls. You will need two more to attach the pavilion to the mansion, front and back. All of the railings and connectors that come with the pavilion are white and there are only 6 railings. I chose to use black ones to match the railings on the front and roof decks of the mansion.
I was fortunate enough to have the extra pieces on hand as they were included in various lots of mansion parts I won on EBay over the years. I apologize if I didn't explain this very well and if it has caused you any aggravation. 8}
Best of luck,
Joe

Excellent work, Joe, and thank you for your detailed explanation in words and pictures.

Thank you Joe, for all your help. Actually, the Pavillion I see on my local store shelf is a different number, the 4297 (USA) with Black railings:
Other than that, it seems I will have to acquire the additional parts from ebay as you have. The patio base, however, do you think there is a way to modify it to fit instead of having to buy another 5300 base?
-
Thank you, Gordon and Black Pearl.
I see what you mean with the black railings on the wedding pavilion, BP. The pavilion 7782 is still available at Playmobil DS USA. I think the color would be a better match. They also still have the staircases, which don't come with the 5301 mansion. As for modifying the base, you have my mind racing again! ;D I will have to get back to you on that.

Thank you, Damo. ;D
Black Pearl, I had a thought while working in the garden, you could combine two 1 unit wide floor foundations (30 05 708) with the floor connector strip (30 05 974) from the 5300 mansion instead of the center base unit (30 24 9650). You would still have to find them on EBay though. Just a thought.

Joe, do you have any updated pics of your monstrosity of a mansion furnished?
I also wonder why the 5301 lacks full floors, no doorways, and no stairs?
Is it me, or is Playmobil just getting less detailed, less realistic, and more basic and kiddish lately compared to their earlier products?
This goes for the pirate line as well. Victorian line is pretty much gone. The newer mansions seem like watered down versions, even the accessory sets have less stuff in it, and also fewer paint applications. The newest mansion doesn't even have the same level of detail as the 5300, or even the 5301. So sad. I wonder why playmobil is getting more basic?

very nice work, and i don't think you went overboard on the floors at all. there are never enough rooms in the victorian house to put all of your furniture. a couple of questions, as i am not familiar with the 5301, in the original design, where do the darker interior rooms go, and what is the dark and white floor trim ? i did not realize the pavilion was the same color as the 5301, it looks great in your creation.
i did not realize the 5301 was no longer available as i have the 5300, with plans to buy the 5302 when it comes out next year (hopefully) as i have lots of extra furniture and victorian folks ready to move in. i also like the new floor plan of the 5302, i think the corner turn will add some interesting architecture possibilities, and of course the fence 7477, at last we will not have to get a second mortgage on our real house to buy a fence for our playmobil house.

No, Atto I haven't taken any new pictures of the house (monstrosity) since I added the sunroom and stairs. I want to tweak a couple of areas first before the Trolleys move in.
I have to say though that I was of your opinion, Atto before I got the 5301. I thought that Playmobil was neglecting the quality of the Victorian line. I have to say though that I was very much impressed with the quality. The structure is quite stable and made of the same sturdy material as the 5300. I like the enlarged rooms on the right side of the house and the extended attic space. Playmobil has also added a clip that holds the roof to the top section, which I think is a great improvement. I had a blast putting it together. ;D
I wasn't sure about the indented floors, but I think little hands would have a much easier time accesssing the rooms. I am not a fan of the wallpaper choices, but that could be easily changed.
I think we have to realize, that Playmobil is not going to reissue the 5300 that we came to know and love. Sadly, time marches on. :(

I believe the reason is to 1) save money - the less they have to put in the less it costs them, 2) making it much more basic toy (I have noticed sets for boys have much less accessories than they used to - girls sets have noticeably more accessories in them) and 3) possibly an answer to modern parents' complaints about small 'bits' that get "lost" (read negligence on behalf of parents who just do not care and can not be bothered and their lack of attention span - sadly the "mtv generation" is old enough, but not mature enough, to have kids ...).

I am sorry Kaeth, I didn't read this until today. I am not exactly sure that I understand your question about the wallpaper. I mixed up the original room wallpaper arrangement in order to match up the extra pieces I added.
I couldn't leave well enough alone ::) and have added another room on to the other side as well. When I can take some pictures I will post them.

Is there a way for the wall to be opened so you can get into the roofed in area?

The stairs keep the door from being operable which is just as well, that first step would be a killer and I wouldn't want the Trolley's falling down the stairs. :o You could put it on the other side of the house and avoid the stairs all together.

AH! Now I get it. The roof it just open under there. I thought maybe there was a floor/ceiling between the first floor and the roof area, but I guess not?

No, wait. I see what you mean - falling down the stairs. I was thinking of going to the new addition, not coming from it. I looked at the pics again and I see there is a floor area.
You could put one of these on either side then. A large balcony for the second floor and use the roof and make a small balcony for the third on the other side.
