Title: 5755~ Santa's house opinion please~
Post by: Dinobuzz on October 12, 2010, 17:19:45
Hi guys!
I was wondering what everyone thought about the 5755 Santa's Carry Along set:

It would be for my daughter this Christmas and the "carry along" factor isn't that important but the fact that its Santa's house she'll love!

On Playvalue.com, they have it for $39.99 CDN.....by the looks of it, there's a lot of nice accessories and Mrs. Clause along with the reindeer & two elves!

How sweet  :)

And if you swapped the elf's head with that of a black kid, you could also do reenactments of Bad Santa, quite possibly the best xmas movie in the history of motion pictures.

I got one a couple of years ago and enjoy it, but beware that the sleigh is child-size and does not fit Santa himelf.

I haven't got one of these, but it does seem to be a lovely set with some nice klickies and accessories.
If I was your daughter I'd like it!   ;D

I love this set, though at this point most of the accessories have spread themselves amongst my collection-  I'll probably put some semblance back together for the girl during the holidays.  The elf shoes absolutely rule.

A very good set to have indeed! Accessories are invaluable or it is fun to play with by itself.

YEAH...I like the shoes of the elf......!!! Could I name them the best footwear ever seen on a klicky produced?? And is it usual to see orange elf?? I only picture the green ones, from Will Ferrel. I think it has something to do with Irish. ???

i bought one last year and had it under the xmas tree, i absolutely love it its very good solid design and great to carry stuff. There is aafir amount of goodies and really like the chimney on it ( which reminds me i need to try and see if it fits steck !!)

The small bobsleigh is really cool and its a great xmas playmo set , one of the best I reckon so....

Okay, I'm going to be the sole (so far) sort-of negative sayer in this.

Personally, I think just changing the decals to make a "Christmas House", "Barn" and "Vet Clinic" and then put in a bunch of accessories that have been used in similar sets many times before is just a money grab.

How hard would it have really been for them to make a Take Along Barn that actually LOOKED like a barn!?!?!

Or a Christmas House that looks like a fantasy Christmas House...  Or a Vet Clinic that looks like a store front, not a Carry Along House with different decals ...

I hear ya Wesley.....its the same for figurines in other toylines.....same mold, just different paint job....but since I'm new in the Playmobil world, I wouldn't have too many doubles of anything and even though we do have the Carry along Dollhouse, and that I wished Santa's house was something totally different, one more in this style wouldn't hurt! LOL!

I'd definitely would LOVE to see Santa's house in the Medieval house/barn style!!

Of all the "Take-Along" sets, this is the only one I like at all (so far, anyway, I do want to get the puppet theatre, also.)  There are a ton of good Christmas items in it, it does work pretty well as part of a holiday display, and, as others have already said, the elf shoes are awesome - they were the main reason that I bought this set when it first came out in the US.   :yup:

But I agree totally with Wesley's remarks about how cheesy the slapped-on sticker backgrounds are.  I am not a fan of the whole "Take-Along" concept.

So, Dinobuzz, I am sure that you your daughter will love it!   ;D

Good. I hate to be the pragmatist here, but each new mold costs a couple million dollars (at least a million €). Re-using a mold as many times as possible reduces the price per unit as far as possible. This ensures the company’s profitability, and therefore they’re longevity.
