Title: Cluedo Hall from my blogsite
Post by: Emma.J on October 11, 2010, 02:03:19
Hello every one hope your all doing well. I've just been on updating my blogsite so I thought I share my latest post with you. So sorry if you've already seen this.

I was asked about doing a "Cluedo" Mansion, based on the old 5300 Victorian Mansion, by another member of this forum. Having already built a nine room house I knew this would end up being very big so I have decided to use a non Playmobil building as it is smaller and a better shape for what would be a 3D version of a classic board game. What makes this different to an ordinary mansion is there is no bedroom and bathroom on the board game. So this is a specially furnished house to match the game board.

"Cluedo" is set in a large mansion with nine rooms, six possible suspects and six different weapons. So first up are the usual suspects...

I've customised all the figures and given them each a murder weapon. Now for the mansion which I've painted and decorated with custom made wallpapers and flooring, and fully furnished throughout.

I've put a Playmobil car in front of this grand hall to show how good a scale match this building is to Playmobil. As you can see below the back of the house is divided so it swings open to each side. This makes it perfect to have on display as it looks good closed up and still can be opened up to be played with.

oh my goodness, this is great.  i love your interpretation of the characters.  clue has always been one of my favorite games, as well as that of my children, we played it often when we would have friends over for board game night.    i like the mansion's exterior paint job.

Didn't you say you planned to build Hogwarts? Can't wait to see that either!
Thanks for sharing!

Great idea Emma, love the characters
How do you plan on moving characters from room to room, will they go straight there or in stages?
(BTW Did someone mention you were going to make Hogwarts?  I'd love to see your version of it.  I'm planning on making Hogwarts and Hogsmeade for our 2011 Kirkbean Exhibition.)

As a gamer I can only approve of this...(good) games and Playmobil what a combination!!!

It's a great creation Emma, I can only jump on the bandwagon and be amazed about the amount of detail you manage to put in.

Could we get a closeup of the "weapons" as well please?

Thanks Elaine. I had a look at a cluedo fan site and it said there was a travel version where I think you just had to roll a certain number to move from one room to the next. I did think a making a mini board with pictures of my rooms on it then I managed to get hold of a real game. Maybe put a small board on the roof?

As to Hogworts errrrr what a project I just haven't got enough steck to build it. Besides I think Daniela has already built it.

All I can say is I was very lucky when asked about a cluedo mansion that I happened to have such a lovely house to hand. Being a cat owner a love the fact I can close it up without anything being disturbed.

I've been asked to put lights in it and to provide a corpse, so I've ordered new lights and when they arrive I'll add some more pictures.

Fabulous Emma...is that the sylvanian families mansion?

Thanks Emma, I didn't know about the travel version, that sounds a better idea than moving in stages.  Look forward to seeing your corpse!
I've seen Daniela's version of Hogwarts before and it really is wonderful.  I was hoping to see another version too!
I have lots of ideas for mine and will have to forfeit my medieval town (and buy more steck  >:D ) but hope it will be worth it.   :)

Yes. It is.
It is also an appropriate word for the situation.;)

I absolutely love your Clue house! SO much detail! I have wanted to do that myself but didn't know what to do for the pool table. Yours is so perfect!

I also really enjoyed seeing the Calico Critters/Sylvanian house used with Playmobil. I often wondered how they would look together since the scale is so similar and they have a similar stylized (toy-like) attention to detail.  I have often thought about picking that one up to expand my Victorian neighborhood. I think the house will blend well with the Playmo versions, while still adding variety to the street scape. (Any chance of seeing the house next to a playmobil one?)

Again, great job!

Hello, it's time for the promised update. I have lights!

Fabulous Emma...is that the sylvanian families mansion?

Yes it is, and I now have proper lights to fit all the rooms. I've also done the corpse. In the game the victim can be shot, stabbed, hanged or bludgeoned. So I've done a body with all the possibilities. It's up to the player to decided which was the fatal "blow"

The next pictures were taken in daylight and then in a dark room to show off the lights. The photo's aren't the best they needed a longer exposure but at least you get the idea.

The Ballroom has a larger chandelier now.

Those lights are awesome! I wish Playmobil had done something similar for their mansions. (The playmo lighting kits are ugly and don't work on the original mansions.) I also really like your corpse. Very gruesome!  >:D
