Glazz took his trains to Lynden while Martin, Tim, and I were having fun in Oregon. (The two events were not related.)
But, as he posted in another thread, he has two more train shows coming up and seeing his train display in person is a treat not to be missed! (oh, he didn't post the part about "seeing his train display being a treat" I added that because I've seen it and it is!)
One show is in Puyallup (a lovely location near Tacoma) in the middle of November.
The other show is at the Seattle Center (in Seattle, a lovely location near Tacoma) the middle of January 2011.
Let's all go to the train show!
(Which one? November or January?)
-
November's a bit soon, so how about January?
I (and Tim) could in theory travel by train to get there, but I suspect the inconveniences of where the station in Seattle is compared to where we want to go would make it not worth it.
-
We can carpool of course. I've driven to Seattle a number of times. I agree January sounds the better date as we will be past the holiday season. Assuming this is the Pacific Science Center Glazz was talking about - then the Science Fiction Museum is right by there too - it's all next to the Space Needle.
-
Okie dokie... let's meet up at the Seattle Center in January and watch Glazz's trains go 'round and 'round.
And you really could ride the train to Seattle if you wanted to... then ride the light rail train from the regular train depot to Westlake Center... then ride the monorail from there to the Seattle Center (that's where Seattle keeps their Space Needle.)
You wouldn't want to be carrying very much luggage though. There's not a lot of room on the light rail train. (Maybe that's why they call it "light rail.") :D
-
The train actually is very accessible to Seattle Center also, you can transfer over to metro bus/monorail.
I live in Tacoma. I can meet up for either one (the Puyallup show in Nov, or Seattle in Jan). I wanna meetup!

Exact Dates?
I'd like to make it a long weekend if possible, so we can visit the Space Needle, Sci Fi Museum etc. I haven't visited Seattle since 2004, my first ever visit to the US, and it'd be nice to refresh some memories.

Monday, January 17 is the observance of Martin Luther King, Jr's birthday and a holiday. We'll have to wait to have Glazz tell us which days of that holiday weekend the trains are going to be on show at the Pacific Science Center. Maybe just Saturday and Sunday? (15th and 16th?)
Edit: I just found this information about the train show.

¿How would we find each other in a large event?

¿How would we find each other in a large event?
There are plenty of landmarks in Seattle to meet at, or the commons area where there is food. And of course we can exchange cel phones (if we have them) and coordinate efforts via phone as we meet up. Pacific Science center isn't too easy to get lost in.

I meant at the event…. I know none of you know what I look like, and I know I don’t know what any of you look like…

I'll be the guy with ketchup stains on my shirt if I happen to wear white that day (because without fail, everytime I wear white, I somehow manage to get ketchup on it). lol.
Otherwise, I'll be the short Filipino guy on the right....
speaking of which, does anyone here have a Facebook or Myspace? I happen to also be "friends" with Playmo Pirates group on Facebook, though it seems they hardly post these days. you can friend request me on myspace as well http://www.myspace.com/blindarcher . You can see pics of me there too. PM me for link to my facebook (which is private and unsearchable) if you rather do facebook instead. Or I guess I could post a pic (here?) Is there a "show us a pic of you thread on here somewhere?"

That's a really good idea, and totally voluntary of course.
Maybe Sylvia could make a sticky so everyone can add their pic is desired - but please just one post each, no rambling diversions from the point of the thread!

It's going to be January soon. Just after December ends, in fact. ;)
Is there still interest in meeting at the Seattle Science Center to see Glazz's train setup and visit with each other?
Which day do we want to meet?
-
I'm in. Any time is good for me :)
-
We should double check with Glazz to be sure he still plans to be there. If he does I think I will drive up and stay over then drive back Sunday. So Saturday would work great and I may be available for part of Friday too. We should confirm with Glazz as I will need to get a hotel registration.

I can't come. :'(
I applied for days off over 14-17th Jan and they were refused.
Apparently my presence is vital to the continued survival of WalMart and I'm working the whole time.

How disappointing!
Fortunately, I am not so crucial for the running of the library and I was able to get Saturday off.
Now we just need to hear that Glazz is going to have his trains there (for certain) and we can make some plans.
-
That's too bad Martin. I will try sending Glazz a PM.

I got an email from Glazz saying that he planned to have his trains at the show but he was waiting until after the first of the year to post anything on the board so that he'd be sure that he had the time off to go.
I'm hoping that he posts something soon. :)
