Title: Tonguello's humble collection!
Post by: tonguello on September 12, 2010, 23:40:31
Hello everyone. As yesterday and part of today didn't have internet conection, I wisely used my time to reorganize my collection, and my instructions folder and take some pics. I feel that, compared to every other collection I've seen around here, mine is quite small...... but lovely.  ;D.
On one hand, I see some diferences in the way I collect.
F.e. I don't make dioramas so I don't have the need to repeat sets or figures. I have only one of each. And I only buy 100% complete sets. Other point is that here is not easy to find good stuff..... or just stuff. The offer down here is very limited. And third is the price. One SPECIAL imported from Germany here costs 10 dollars at a toy's store!! And the cheapest crapy set from Antex ...... costs 10 dollars too! can you believe that? Anyway, it will slowly grow.  ;D ;D ;D
All I have is displayed in showcases or fishtanks, except for those vintage sets that still need cleaning or have some part missing, so I wouldn't have to dust any toy. I have two fishtanks in the processing of fabrication (for Noah's arc and for the Xmas manger)
AS I don't have much space left they are kinda cramped together, but anyway......happy!

This is my Special showcase. It has a glass door btw. There was at some point a glimpse of an organization lay out, that you still can see,  but got lost after the thrid time I had to move everything to place a klickie in between other two. So now they just like to be mixed up!! They don't complain. 0)

And here is what I call fishtank. Don't know if that is the name. It is  just an acrylic box, good for places where you can't put glass doors. So A lot more of this will come.
That's all for now, more thmes yet to come tomorrow. Hope you enjoy these.
Gaston.  :chef:

That is a great collection of klickies Gaston   :wow: - are they all specials?
I do like the idea of displays in acrylic cases to keep them clean, the advent scene looks very good.  I hope you are going to show us more of your display cases?

I see you have changed your avatar BTW?

Thanx Elaine. Yes in this showcase are all special. I'll upload more tomorrow with other themes. I had time to take some pics and change my avatar for a look alike klickie. Did you see we have the same t-shirt?

Your display is great, Gaston.  I really like the idea of putting it behind a glass door.  Love the winter scene with St. Nick feeding the animals and a very clever display!

Great idea with the advent calender set :)9 I chucked mine away after Christmas because I didn't know what to do with it :-[

Wow Gaston! Your specials collection is very...special *grin*

It's great to see them all displayed like that. I didn't like the christmas scene much because I feel cold now..much to lifelike and wintry (is that a word?) for me at the moment.

a quick one. You have only one copy of these specials, so are you afraid of getting UV bleached?

Hi Gaston, the Special display is magnificent and the "fish tank" idea is a very good one and the use of the Advent calendar backdrop works very well too.  Look forward to seeing more of your collection.

Thanx everyone for your coments!  ;D I'm glad you like it!!!
Heronimus, actually the rooms where the displays are, face south, so there is no direct sunshine coming in. Nevertheless, do you think I should add an UV transparent filter? Could they bleach withthe normal electric light?.  :hmm:

hey guys, thank you for the comments.
Here is the rest of my collection. Also in a showcase with glass doors to avoid dust.
As there is not much room, everything is mixed up, nevertheless the themes can be recognizable.

The Arc and the manger are still waiting for their fishtanks so they are among the rest for now. Well friends, taht's all I have. Some vintage sets needs to be cleaned and restored. But soon I'll have two more of those to share.
Hope you like it.

I dont know either. I have some spotlight like light in my room, so I am also afraid of this. And I dont have direct sunlight, but lateral sunlight from the windows. So I have been questioning myself should I get two copies for each of them 8-)

Thanx Wolf, Heronimus, Kaethe, Rasp and rest, for the coments!
@Rasp..... I do treat my klickies as small sculptures, as if they were Faberge eggs..or Lladro porcelian (crazy I know) so it is ok that it looks like a Museum!
I said I'm weird  8}..... even though I play with them (and by play I mean put up scenes and photograph them) I wouldn't put them on dirt, sand, grass...or anything like that.
Nevertheless..... seeing what you guys do with your knights and castles makes me want to do it!!!!!! I'm slowly liking the idea of a big diorama....  0)

Thanks for the extra pictures.  They show your collection off nicely and the fact that the themes are mixed up adds to the interest.  (The great thing about Playmobil for the kids is that themes can be mixed up - knights can chase after Indians riding on fire engines or pirates can battle with the police on board ship - and if kids can do it, why not so in our collections?)

hey Gaston, I know this thread is from some time back, but I just love the way you have all everything displayed. It's nice to have your klickys out where you can see them instead of in a box (like mine :(). It looks great, but we'd love to see updated pics now that your collection has grown!  :picsplz:

Very impressive! I love how you have it all displayed as they come in the set!!! I would like to do that someday... I also like how you have such a mixture of different themes. The cases you have them all stored in is very neat. Can you post a picture of the whole case sometime?  :thanks:

Thank you guys! I have to go through serious organization here. I have big sets that I didn't have back then (houses, castles and ships) so I still have to figure out how I will display everything...so far I know I can't display the big stuff. That would have to be in the closet until I want to use it. Im not happy about that...but I can't move yet....someday I will have my own playmoroom.
I'll post pics when I can.
