I am slowly rounding up any western set from late 90's - early 00's. This set arrived last week but I just managed to free it of its box... Its used so no original box exist, and its missing three small items, a handbag or carpetbag , a direction sign, and the most important part...the doorbar of the transport...so its easy for someone to rob it...   I think I have a spare somewhere... (attachment 1) Also missing some silver coins...
I really like its colour, but red would make it so easer a target back those days for bandits, would'nt you agree? I also like the gold bars and the two different colour strongboxes!! (attachment 2)
The set has two klickies, maybe there could have been a third, a driver with cloak and a sergenat guard! Same klickies as other sets but a slight variation to them... Actually I think the sergeant is unique to htis set! (attachment 3)
-
What is really unique in this carriage is the seats for the driver and guard...and there are also some strange holes behind the driver's set... (attachment 1)
And here comes the good part! These features in the seats makes this set quite collectable for their uniqueness, as I have not come across them in any other western carriage!!! The seat of the driver is the typical driver's seat at any carriage, but the stand up part of the guard is very nicely designed, despite the fact that in reallity things might not be that way!! (attachment 2)
And the greatest part!!! The two holes behind the driver are designed as rifle holsters!!!! How cool is that? :D :D :D
(attachment 3)

A very nice set you got there. I want >:D
-
As for the inside of the transport, it cas easily fit a third strongbox, if you have one, more yellow bags and maybe a few handbags with coins... (attachment 1)
In my opinion, a third klicky could be included in the set, but if you have more than enought to spare, you can place one in the back of the transport for extra protection!!! (attachment 2)
Hope you found this interesting :) :) :) :)

Thanks Bolingbroke! There are a few on ebay on reasonable prices!!! I got mine for 25 euros including shipping cost!

Congratulations! Really nice gold transport you have there.
its missing three small items, a handbag or carpetbag , a direction sign, and the most important part...the doorbar of the transport...
Puh... I'm really relieved these parts are missing. If it had been the barred windows of the transport I would have felt guilty a little bit for collecting all of them I'd found so far. (http://server3.webkicks.de/confedhome/replacer/oops.gif)
They're so ideal to replace that a bit too gaudily colored (yellow!!!) barred window of the Sheriff's Offices breakout wall... (http://www.kolobok.us/smiles/artists/connie/connie_hidinginwall.gif)

That's a good bargain! My next few purchases on Ebay will be knights-related I'm afraid. Western will have to wait some more.
-
oh yes :o :o :o very nice memories playing with it as a kid
-
That's a nice buy, Panos, and thanks for the review.
The door bar looks as if it's just the door bar from the small Steck door lock:

That's a great Western set Wolf Knight!
I have the carriage only, awaiting restoration when I get round to it. The gold bars are fantastic, in a modern set I expect they'd just be plastic.
I think the stand point behind the guard is so he can face backwards and shoot his rifle over the top of the carriage.

You're right Martin!!! Didn't think of it... Great info!!!
As for the gold bars, they are metal in the moder sets too. I have the 3161 - Safe Crackers (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=3161) and the gold bar included is metalic!

Ah, I have that set but forgot all about the gold bars. Looks like I should be able to order some to put on this Western Bank Transport after all! Thanks for the heads-up!

Thanks for the review, Panos. This is one of several Western sets that I don't have but have been actively seeking out MIB on ebay. And I do like those metal bars! :)

Thanks Justin! I try getting a free-of-box set first, so that I know what is in there, and then look for an MIB for the sealed collection! I have done this so far with many sets. Its a shame to have it and not know how it looks inside!

That's a good idea, Panos. I don't collect any MIB sets, but I like to buy them so I can get the thrill of opening the box for the first time and having pristine pieces to use. I'm strange, I guess. 8}

I do it too most of the times, but if I have payed, lets say 80 euros for a MIB set, I dont even want to touch it...

Nice review Sir Wolf. I had never seen this set before as I have never been into Western much. It is a very nice set though!

I was not collecting at the time, no. I sure was visiting toy stores and having a quick look at playmobil, but I was more concentrated in covering any lapses in my comic book collection!

Well, I doubt the average city kid has any sensitivities with the life in a farm...
To tell you the truth, I don't like it much either, but its decorating my livingroom as my girlfriend absolutely loves it ...

Congratulations on getting the 3037 Panos, I think it's a great set.
I didn't realise that the 'shelf' at the back of the seat was for someone to face backwards and fire a rifle - "Thank you for that Martin!"
I am puzzled though ??? I kept looking at yours and thinking it looked different to mine, then I realised what it was - mine and the one on PlaymoDB has silver wheels while yours has red. http://playmodb.org/backs/3037_back.jpg
Is one a later issue than the other?
Looking back at my western photos from the exhibition to check mine, I realised that it looked strange because when he set the gold transport wagon up for me, Sandy hadn't put any klickies on it!!! :-[ ::) :-[

Well I'll be...
I've had a look at that picture on collectobil so many times...my eye did not catch this... Good one Elaine!! I think maybe the seller on ebay had these redish weels put on it... Now that I look at them again, i think they are from 3803 stage coach

I have this set and its great the attention to detail , whn i bought it when it was released i remember the sheer excitement with the gold bullions !!! :yippee: :yippee: :yippee: :yippee:
Western is such a great theme, so so soooo many old sets , great houses as the school/church and the saloon , train and train station are fantastico, forts , mine , indians etc , there are so so many great sets over the years , and one can also build union and cofederate armies , foot soldiers, cavalry, cannons
I recently bought 4 western forts and soldeirs and a fewe cannons , i am beginning to steck the western playmo fever again !!!
