And as this thread proves, there's actually no really need to update the pf-smiley-assortment. Everybody can easily use them just by inserting them with the

[img]...[/img] command. Just insert the URL of the smiley instead of the three dots between command parts and you'll see what you want to see. (http://www.klickywelt.de/images/smiles/staun02.gif)

Alternatively you can mark the smiley-URL and press the "insert image"-button (http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/Themes/default/images/bbc/img.gif) just above the input window.

Just google the web for smiley-sites and you'll find tons of stuff that'll meet your approval. It's much more fun, when everybody brings some new ones with him/her instead of everybody using the same ones you're used to see every day for years. I haven't been ignoring this topic - started writing a long reply last night before bed and then accidentally closed the window and lost the whole thing. I was too tired to start again at that point.

Anyway, thank you Colonel Klicky for explaining how to use non-forum smileys. :)

I do add new smileys from time to time, but I'm wary of overloading the pop-up window. It takes longer to load the more you add, and I've noticed that it gets harder to quickly find the one you want when there are so many. 8}

There are also seasonal smileys at PF which get "packed away" once the occassion has passed: Halloween, Christmas, St Patricks Day. Maybe these could be expanded. :)

I would never separate the forum smileys by membergroup. They are for everyone to use!  ;)

Maybe CK can tell us how many smilies are in Klickywelt. I think between one and two hundred. The site needs 16 sec. to show all. But it's also a factor how fast the PC runs. :lol:

Well, I'm admin in a little small board, started last month. I was the one who added 100 smilies into. While opening the site all of the 100 are immediately to see without any delay.

You're right both. The pop-up window showing more smileys needs more time to load for every new smiley being added. Of course it will pop-up faster if used regularly and therefore the smileys still being saved in the cache of your browser.

As far as I'm concerned I never use that "more"-window to select a smiley by clicking on it anyway but just automatically type the shortcut while typing my post.

Which browser are you using?

There should be a setting where you can allow pop-ups from PlaymoFriends without allowing them from all the other sites you visit.

This code didn't work because the URL you inserted is not the correct format for the IMG tags. The file must end in GIF, JPG, PNG or a similar extension used for images.

Your "invisible" smiley is hosted at Klickywelt.

It might have been removed from their server, or they may have put a block on direct links coming from outside their forum in order to reduce bandwith usage.

If you can find the smiley images again, you should try uploading them to your own space (e.g. at photobucket) and link them from there instead. That way they'll never go missing again. ;)

But while Klickywelt has been offline four days, they get an software update and changed something doing with cookies. So everybody has to delete the cache and the cookies or he won't be able to log in. So maybe, all old orders won't work.

If anybody needs other smilies, post them, I'll try to find them. ;)

Actually, there is! ;D

The directory name in the links are slightly different.
The first piece of code from WOT uses a directory called smiles.
In the second one it is called smilies.

Just one missing character is all it takes for the code to stop working.
