Title: The new versus old versions of the Playmobil City Hospitals!
Post by: Bill Blackhurst on August 31, 2010, 14:31:06
In a future Photo story, I will be showing my latest creation of the new larger Playmobil City Hospital & Saint Mary's Trauma Center. I created an older version that I sold a few years ago that I am including a picture of to show the differences. This is an early tid bit of the future contribution photo story.

Thanks for the comparative pictures, Bill.  The great advantage of the new hospital is that with its glass walls you can see what type of building it is because you can see the interior.  The old hospital could be anything from the outside - a hospital, government offices, an apartment block and so on - although that might be an advantage in itself - change the sign and you change the building.

Your new hospital is superb, Bill.  I see there's the TV news people there and a great crowd so obviously some thing's afoot - maybe a klicky transplant or an outbreak of ABS fatigue?  Guess we'll have to wait and see.

I'll agree with Gordon!! The glass gives more advantages!!

Most importantyl, the new hospital is not so widespread and easier to move up and down on an elevator than having to cross several areas to get from one wing to the other! Believe me this is a great dissadvantage!!

Love your fleet of hospital vahicles Bill!!!     I have my sights on a couple myself!

A wonderful building Bill, it really looks a very busy place.    :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow:
I too like the glass windows, it does make it look much more modern.

I have never seen your original hospital before, but it looks to be a larger version of the small 'cottage hospital' I made for our recent exhibition.

Yours does look more welcoming with the flowers though!
The size of ours was limited by the pieces we had available at the time as we hadn't originally planned to have a hospital.  We also had a small piece of roof over the door originally but had to put it back on the church where it belonged!

I'll have to update mine for next year....  ;D

Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for your support Gordon! I agree with you about the original version being too generic, & after I shipped it I realized I forgot to display the HOSPITAL sign above the front door in the pictures :-[! The photo story will have a televised grand opening & detailed pictures of the new hospitals interior with some other more stranger surprises.

Thank you for your support Panos! The PCEMS vehicles are the ones that are stationed normally at the PCFD stations in district 1 & 2. There may be additional transport ambulances acquired for the 4 additional PC fire stations.

Thank you Elaine, for your positive support! Now that I see your smaller hospital, it does look very similar to my creation! Mine took 3 years to obtain all of the additional larger city house extentions to make it the size I finally wanted. Thank you for your mention of my wifes' decorating taste! The pictures on the dining room wall were in our old house over 6 years ago, they are now in our second bedroom.

i love it love it love it.  please take some more photos of each room.  i must confess i have not worked much on my medical center, although i have been busy collecting pieces to make the additions.  i like the way you extended the units, unfortunately i do not have that much space.  i also like the hustle and bustle outside of the buildings.  you can just hear the sirens.

¿Where’s the NICU?
Title: Re: The new versus old versions of the Playmobil City Hospitals!
Post by: Bill Blackhurst on September 02, 2010, 14:48:49
¿Where’s the NICU?

At the time the old hospital was built, Playmobil did not have any new sets like the  4225 incubator in production. So at that time there were no premature babies needing to be assigned to the nursery unit ;). The new hospital has several babies in the NICU as seen on the top floor, & one being transported in the medevac chopper.

Did you add some more pictures, Bill, to your first post?  There seem more now than before?  Or is my ISP slow?  I know that when pictures are embedded in a post sometimes only part of the picture appears, so maybe this time some pictures didn't appear at all.  Anyway, thanks for the detailed pics of the hospitak interior.

I wondered if anyone would notice!
Actually on his visit to John Paul Jones' Cottage he tried to climb the rigging on the Bonhomme Richard model - Maisie told him to act his age, but he wouldn't listen   ::)
The next day he found he'd put his back out again so had to go to hospital for treatment - he's fine now though and back to just using his stick!  ;D

Wow!
Both of you: Absolutely love your hospitals created with 3988 sets!!! ;D ;D ;D
I have been collecting those sets for 6 months and now have about 6, which is almost enough to finish my boutique shopping center.
Wish I had been a collector when they were sold new because many parts are faded and the prices are ridiculous.
If anyone wants to get rid of a 3988, please let me know!
Those green window inserts are my absolute favorite windows and no longer available. Wish I had a hundred of them! they make the suburban house look wonderful.
Again thanks for showing your creations to the rest of us....very lovely buildings done with a lot of skill and creativity! Pgal

Glad I found the photos of your hospitals!

Question: did you sell all of your 3988 parts when you sold the first hospital? I need two more of the barrel roof parts that are round in one piece on the top, if you still have them. I almost threw mine away before finding a place to use them. Will show you where they go once I finish the darn building.

Also were all of your 3988 sets new? Boy that would be hard to do now. Only one of my 6 is new, from Craigslist over Christmas...my first set of PM. An unopened box. Was I lucky or what!

Also who bought your first hospital? Is it on display somewhere? That would be really cool because so many hospitals display art for sale on their walls now.

Thanks again for sharing your hospitals with us, Pgal

Tell me, is the Playmobil City Hospital and Trauma Center still fully assembled and on display?

Do you allow your grandson to play with the set-up? :)

I don't have any of the 30073520 barrel shaped roof parts any longer.

I started out with 1 3988 large City House set MISB, & added multiple add on sets 7415, 7416, 7417, 7418, 7419 to achieve the correct size.

I don't know if the custom hospital is on display or not. A doctor/collector purchased it on eBay in 2007, even after there was a problem with the way I had it listed, for quite a sum of money.

Thank you for your kind words, toyologist!

The new version is still assembled & in the Playmoshed, but the interior pieces are packaged for safe storage. I'm working on a second custom CAT Scan custom presently like the first one I showed here.

My 3 year old grandson loves the construction & firefighting themes presently. The hospital is a little over whelming due to its size & dexterity makes him frustrated when he knocks things over.

Bill,
Thanks for the info. So glad you were able to sell such a fine set.
May have found a source for the last two roof pieces I need.
Wish I had started this 5 years ago when parts were easier to find. Cheers, Pgal 8} 8} 8}
