I cleaned some shelves yesterday and took some pictures before putting them back....I thought I might show here(again) its my own (old)rendition of playmobil ACW zuoves....definitely not historically accurate like recent customs we see sporting home-printed torsos :)

Well done pieces and they look fairly accurate. I just happen not to like Zouves (dunno why, I just don’t).

and Andy, it was their sucidally-coloured uniforms that made me interested in them...you will, after youve read more ;)
and WOT, I was expecting you to tell me more, I htought history was one of your favourite subjects? :P
and playmo1989, thanks for replying for Mobison....yes, thanks for the memories, these old-type klickies still have a very special place in my heart and his red trousers+high red boots are still such a treasure for my napoleonics 8-)

...
Yeah, but not American history... :P ::)
I just don't like it,
I prefer ancient History.
I suffered through one whole year of American history,
(which is all I need to do for high-school)
And it was horrible! The book even called them blue and gray coats! :hmm: :-\
-
Love the Zouves Cheng! they look great!
-
Yeah, but not American history... :P ::)
I just don't like it,
What's about french history then? (http://server3.webkicks.de/confedhome/replacer/zwinker.gif)
The zouaves are originally north african troops from Algeria serving in the french army. They get known for their bravery in the crimean war. This was the reason why this troops and their uniforms were adopted by several volunteer regiments on both sides of the american civil war.

Yes I read that on the website...
Still, that is later then I usually study. :-\
I study mostly Medieval, around the years 1000AD - 1300AD
Mainly the Crusades.
Though I do "drift" a lot... :-[
Into the Napoleonic wars, and much earlier to the early Greeks.
(I even watched a 2 hour video about the Hittites.)
I have studied Rome quite a lot,
And little snippets of everything else.
So I do know a little about lots,
But only really focus on early Medieval, and pre-Medieval.

Very nice customs! :o

Your Zouaves look great, Cheng! :)9

-
Very nice the jackets and hats are all beautiful I really like the 2nd ones in particular :)
-
thanks again Playmofriends! after making these years back and seeing more pictures of zouves, I'm sure there's more different Zouve uniforms to make and with newer skills and materials and new playmo parts, I wonder if I could have made them any better today...I can try but busy with Asians nowadays ;)
..anyway thanks for kicking this thread up, I know ACW interests quite many of us and its still a very precious custom to me ;)
DrDalek6, this is how they still look today (after so many years on my shelves)..no improvement :P
