Hello
You might remember me complaining about being evicted by my wife from the office. Well I had to find a new place and I decided on a barn we have in the middle of the property. Its an old 2 story barn and I have already moved the western stuff out a while ago. I just had some time last week to build some shelfs upstairs. Here are some pictures.
This is the top 8' X 8' shelf in the semi middle
(http://a.imageshack.us/img10/1494/p1010005tzj.jpg)
This is looking down the south side wall looking east
(http://a.imageshack.us/img697/6136/p1010003ui.jpg)
This is the same south wall but to the west-end
(http://a.imageshack.us/img94/6987/p1010006oy.jpg)
This is an 8' X 8' area for taking pictures w/background paper. here we got all the Egyptians and Romans out for a battle/picture event
(http://a.imageshack.us/img155/4237/p1010010i.jpg)
This is the north wall looking west. This is where all the stecks were piled
(http://a.imageshack.us/img831/439/p1010011p.jpg)
same north wall but looking east
(http://a.imageshack.us/img844/9761/p1010012x.jpg)
This shows the 8'X8' shelf in the middle with ships on top, Victorian in the middle and there will be a 4 plane airport on the floor.

so much more work to do upstairs and down 8}

It is becoming my favorite place as well, especially when we will start taking pictures again. Two of our boys still like to find less crowded areas to really get creative

Down stairs in an area made up of tables. The kids built an area below the tables where there is currently a war going on .

They really do have an interesting time. I have them using the BBgun to shoot old full wine bottles so we can recycle the glass and then they come in here and play out history with toys. The space is a bit dirty with dust and bugs so it is a bit annoying. I think I will hang building wrap on the walls to keep the wind out.
looooooooooove iiiiiiiitttttt!!!!!!!!!!!
envy it too :-[
;D
We still have a lot of work to do so it will get better. The circus will be really a fun place as the train goes wizing past

Every square inch of that barn will be covered in Playmobil before long, and you’re going to be building extensions and add-ons just to house extensions and add ons… Been there and done that I have…
But since done is done, ¿would you listen to some bad but well meant advice? Many years ago I had pretty much all my toys in a barn. Then one night it caught fire. The water to the barn didn’t work and there wasn’t sprinklers. Had we installed sprinklers and working water, the building would have been saved AND the contents, less a little water related discoloration, would have been none the worse for wear.

Oh my gosh!!!! Ras this is absolutely amazing!!! I long for the day I will be able to have a big area to place my playmobil on playtables and have it all set up and easy to play!!!

My eldest boy was looking at it with me and he wanted to know if this was your Playmobil Exhibition - it makes ours look rather small now!! :-[
I love your Western town - a three storey saloon :o I was quite proud of my two storey saloon, but now I want more ...
Is the other space the boys' room - the one you had to move out of?
Elaine :)

no.... but... that's amazing!!!!! obviously your barn needs a few rearrangements, but the potential is awesome :) nice idea, the place with curtains for the dioramas' backgrounds :)

Wow. Great collection! :wow: :wow: I was wondering how the weather will effect your stuff? I ask because I'm in the process of converting my old music studio into my playmo den. I'm a little concerned because it's uninsulated.

HI
This is a night mare of mine. It is an old very dry barn. I have neighbors who like fireworks too :omg: I have been thinking about sprinklers and will call my childhood friends brother who professionally installs fire abatement sprinklers in large buildings and get a blue print of a system I can install. Wet toys are a lot better than melted ones. I bet my insurance would not even believe what I had if a fire did occur and if I tell them now they will not know how to add it to the policy.

I am eager to get the down stairs ready. I have a few thousand board feet of lumber to move out then I can get the other dioramas built.

Hi
I have not done an official exhibition yet. I am planning one someday and I hope it will be as successful as yours.
I can take some more pictures of the saloon. I had to due some weird things for the porch supports. The content of the inside of the saloon is adult oriented >:D lots of arms deals and other debauchery's
Yes the other room is the X-office and now is the kids room. I have to build the loft beds, fireman pole, perhaps a slide and art areas and what ever else is on the honeydew list ;)

Thanks Gordon , pictures never do it justice. In the western diorama you crawl under the table and enter the wild west. The yellow fabric goes all the way around you shutting everything else out. Then you get the trains going around you and you really just wonder off into imagination land :D I want to try to catch it all by video to show it better.

Yes we have been rearranging stuff for a long time. It never seems to end
The area with the blue paper is for the pictures and we can change the background to clouds, clear sky, or I am looking for some night effects. The area with the yellow fabric was supposed to look like the western hills of dry grass but I want to change it to something that will look better in pictures. Any ideas ?

Hi
I am wondering the same thing. It is dry and hot in the summer so will things get discolored. I will keep the sunshine off of everything but what about the heat. The dust will wash off and I kind of think it makes it look rustic . I guess if it becomes a problem I can put that stiff insulation between the rafters
very nice rasputin a lot of space and playmo :o :o :o i would like to be in your son's position if i was a kid     they are very lucky i wish my dad was a playmo fan too!! well .... my kids will be happy now having me as a dad :D

I wish my dad collected anything besides military work when I was young. I was able to have large collections of toys but I did not share them with my parents. It really is fun to be able to enjoy toys with your kids :P
I guess I want to find a good place that has a lot of tables and a hall. I also want to organize other Northern California members into doing one jointly, maybe in San Fransisco

HI
I think I started collecting about 6 years ago. I really do not have a point of reference in my life so I am just trying to figure out who was born when it all started at Target clearance isle.

¡¡OH DEAR!! ¡If you can afford it, you might want to consider covering the barn in sheetmetal, stucco, or something else non-flammable as well! (Most people can’t afford it, but if you can, ¡do!)
Otherwise it sounds like you have a good plan going. :D

how exciting, what a wonderful play place. i, too, was wondering about the dust and grime from the open rafters. your boys must be soooo excited. someday i want to get up there to visit you and the boys, and if i can, i will bring snoqualmie.

Would you mind doing some close up for the background? Is it printout? It is very professional to have a changing background!!!!!

I love that idea... backgrounds are often difficult to make... for the western hills I'd paint something like at the end of Lucky Luke movies on a linen sheet ( http://www.movizdb.com/tags/lucky+luke+dessin+annimes+rapidshare/ ), but I know it's a weird idea....

Great Barn - my only concerns are big spiders ...
Looking forward to seeing your exhibition one day!

It's good you've got a barn to house your collection. You really do have a lot of Playmobil, Rasputin! ;)
