Title: Ambush...
Post by: Wolf Knight on August 22, 2010, 08:43:36
The six o'clock Denver-Nothing Gulch coach is always on time!

And how can it not be when Bob, one of the oldest and most experienced coach drivers of Wells&Fargo, is on the reins?
Jeremy, the newest security escort is with him today!

For today, they are trasfering a shipment of gold from Fort Reno to the bank of Nothing Gulch in order to finance the new Federal projects that will take place in the town!

Sergeant Kalam is also escorting the shipment! His co-passangers Mr and Mrs Anderson are traveling back home!

Suddently a shot is heard in the distance...

...and Jeremy turns around to see who is shooting....
''Better hurry those horses Bob, there's a rascal on our trail"

But as Jeremy is getting ready to shoot, the coach comes to a sudden halt...
Bob has pulled the reins too tight and sudden, and so Jeremy looses his ballance...

''Now look what you did old timer, not only is this rascal catching up with us, I lost my shotgun too...not to mention my sixgun...''

''Well son,'' Bob replied, ''He is the least of our troubles...Better look up in the front...''

The bandit pursuing them has caught up with them, and now our friends are surrounded!

At that moment, Sergeant Kalam looks out of the window: ''Whats up out there? Why did we stop?'' But he quickly feels the point of the bandit's shotgun on his head!
''Better come off the coach quietly soldier boy'' says the bandit...

And he does! Only problem is, he descides to pull his sixgun but he did not consider one of the other bandits approaching...
...and shooting him on the shoulder... ''Told you to come off quietly, soldier boy''...
The Sergeant lost his gun and started bleeding but he was not mortaly wounded...Mr and Mrs Anderson were also ordered to come off the coach...

''Get that strongbox of gold down to us'' the bandit's leader shouted to Bob, while the fourth bandit was pointing at Jeremy.
''And you there kid, help him out''!

Bob and Jeremy got on to the coach and as they came down upon the strongbox Jeremy asked slowly...''How could they know?''
Jeremy looked at Bob's old shotgun and glared back at Bob... ''Don't get any crazy ideas son!''

The second bandit yelled ''Will this take long? Common, we have not got all day!''
''And while you're at it, bring me that rope... I'll tie soldier boy here, in case he has more plans...''

''Easy with the rope old man''

And so the second bandit tied up the Sergeant while his leader coverd him...

Bob came down but Jeremy rose up quickly with the shotgun....

...he forgot the fourth bandit behind him, who shot at his hand and made him loose the shotgun...
''You being smart kid?'' asked the bandit leader ''Good thing we need you to lover that strongbox for us!!!''

And so Jeremy lowered the strongbox to Bob...

The strongbox was full of the federal gold!!! ''Its all here Jo'' said the second bandit. ''Just as he said it would!!'' said the bandit leader with a satisfying smile...
''Sit down everone, against the coach!'' shouted the bandit leader...

...while the first bandit went back and checked on the laggage...

''Ok we need to split the gold! Too much for one of us to carry anyway...Get these bags and put it in there....''
''Aemilio, get back here!'' shouted the leader again... ''Sorry patron, got myself a nise suitcase, great fabric in it I can make new cloths and sell them at good price'' ''You talk too much Aemilio....'' said the leader angrily...

''We should do something...'' wispered Jeremy... ''Like what?'' replied Bob...''With you and the Seargent wounded? Live to fight another day kid, and you both need a doctor'' The couple was so scared they did not say a word at all...just obeyed every bandit command...being  fabric merchants for so long, they could not react to a situation like that
(http://i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x335/Baldthar/Nothing%20Gultch/DSC01718.jpg)
''Ok boys,'' started the bandit leader again, we'll split up. The three of us and you Aemilio, leave the same way you came! Hold a few moments until we get ourselves a distance, in case they descide to be heroic again!''

The three of them left quickly leaving the rest behind...

Aemilio came off his horse and put the rest of the gold in the suitcase with the fabric...
''You'll get what's coming for you Aemilio.'' shouted the Sergeant ''This is federal government property you know''
The bandit looked at him and relplied ''Yes amigo! But not today!"

He climbed on his horse and quickliy galloped away...

Wonderful story and photos, Panos !!! ...

Old Bob kinda reminds me of Playmofire. He's been around for awhile and he seems to have the wisdom of his years. "Live to fight another day kid ..."

Jeremy reminds me of one of our younger members here at Playmofriends. Wonder who that could be? ... ;)

The bandits appear somewhat compassionate toward their prisoners. However, they seem to be rather stupid. They go to the trouble of concealing their identities with masks. But, then they talk too much and even call each other by name.

The US Army sergeant obviously had no plan to protect the gold if they were ambushed by robbers. He's lucky to still be alive.

Bob and Mr. and Mrs. Anderson get the vote for being the most intelligent. They may not be brave or foolhardy, but they'll be around to tell the story ... :)

Thanks, Panos, for sharing your fun and thrilling adventure! Looking forward to chapter two !!!

Excellent story, Panos, well told and great photos.

I liked the picture of the bandits escaping was the best - those horses really looked as if they were moving, and just by the rider being not quite in the saddle.

We want more!

Thank you very much Richard!! I like the way you dwelled into the characters furter  :)9 :)9 :)9!!!

Bob has indeed seen a lot of action, so he knows what he's doing!
Jeremy is too eager to prove himself!
The bandits are not killers but they would not hesitate to shoot a man down if he stands in their way, and yes they aren't too bright either, perhaps we'll see that again...!
The sergent was not ready at all for this, since the shipment was only known to a few people...

Glad you'll follow the story later on  :) :) :)

Thank you Karim!!! Western is my third favourite theme (after knights and pirates of course)!
I was actually between this coach and the one in 4072 - Fort Reno (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=4072&pics=on) I went for the original one as I am more sentimental towards it!!
