Just browsing the German website looking at good things (hopefully) to come to the US eventually, and I noticed the Roman galley is available again, but with no figures.
I only bought one of these originally, but if it's cheaper as an add-on I may add a couple more to make a fleet.

So a lot of these new sets are just scaled down old sets. Did Playmobil have way too many of them? With something like the boxes, those were the first generation farmer and fire sets. Did Playmobil make too many boxes or did they just open all the unsold sets, put the other parts back into circulation and try to re-sell the empty box as it will not be re-usable in a different set?
The same question goes for the others like the ship? did they start making it again or do they have thousands still in the original box's, opened them up and sell them as add-ons?
Gordon said they re-did their warehouse stocking system and build on demand . So is there a demand for these sets ?
It will be so great when we can channel questions to the Geobra reps. through the club.

Often when complete sets are added to DS they are still in their original box! It is just unsold stock. It is the same for the RC train, romans. I must say last year and this yearthere were a lot more "old sets" sold as DS articles then "new DS sets".

and use this telephone number:

Of course, Bundeskanzlerin Angela Merkel might be surprised when a bunch of Playmobil catalogues show up on her doorstep.

She's the current Chancellor (Prime Minister) of Germany: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angela_Merkel.
The address I suggested is the official residence of the German head of government in Berlin. So my suggestion was along the same lines as putting in 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in the US, or 10 Downing Street in the UK.

Can't really take credit for the idea -- I was inspired the film 'The Blues Brothers,' in which Jake and Elwood give their address to the police trying to give them a speeding ticket as 1060 West Addison Street in Chicago. Which is Wrigley Field (a baseball stadium, if you're wondering).
Somehow the idea seemed to fit, and I thought the Bundeskanzleramt in Berlin would be suitable for this purpose.
But of course, it would be very, very wrong to give a false address like that 0)

I highly doubt Playmobil would remove the the ship from already boxed sets, as the boxes make up a significant amount of the cost.
