When Mum was sorting out some stuff, she came across some old jewellry boxes that she no longer wanted. So I claimed them for Playmobil :D
In them I put all of my spare fire bits and pieces (helped stocked by AndyR) ;)

(http://a.imageshack.us/img822/4226/200912150004.jpg) (http://img822.imageshack.us/i/200912150004.jpg/)
There are black velvet pieces in the bottoms which would stop jewellry from shifting about when the draw is open/closed, so I left them in and it works a treat.
The second storage box that I am pleased with is this one. There used to be a Lego Mindstorms kit in it, so I chucked that out, and put my spare hats/hair/cuffs/shoes etc in it.

It has a stong, see through clip on lid, and a tray that lifts out

I haven't finished filling it yet, but I am really pleased with it and it works very well as all these types of items were mixed up in an old, noisy sweet tin before, which made finding things difficult.

Very nice Damo!!! Is it only one grey compartment in the green box? Love those btw!!!

Yes only one, but the compartments are of a very good size for these types of bits (perhaps I will move the hair clips) ;D

They look like great boxes Damo.
I really need to sort out the drawer I keep collars, cuffs, shoes etc. in as it takes ages to find things.
Elaine :)

That's a great idea Damo! I also need to sort out my collars, cuffs, hats, shoes, etc. Before everything gets mixed up. :)

For all the small accessories I am using these:
(http://img37.imagefra.me/img/img37/8/8/3/baldthar/f_grpn4ps0m_6277141.jpg) (http://imagefra.me/)
The drawers can be used as one, or separated into two or three compartments...
(http://img02.imagefra.me/img/img02/8/8/3/baldthar/f_grpn4ps1m_d079baf.jpg) (http://imagefra.me/)
I need to build so many knights...but haven't got the time...
I think I like your green ones better Damo! Much easier to see whats in them... i keep forgetting where an accessory or two are in here....
-
I also have these drawers which are similar to yours, Panos :)
(http://a.imageshack.us/img683/5986/200910260023.jpg) (http://img683.imageshack.us/i/200910260023.jpg/)
They aren't as deep as yours, but they are still pretty hard to see into, which is why most of them just contain matching parts, but I can see where yours would be frustrating in that if it is devided into three, then it makes it very difficult to see whats at the back.
And you'd end up like me hurredly opening each drawer in turn trying to find a certain part 8}
Damo :)

You are such a nice person Damo...my spare horses are baged in zip bags and into the plastic drawers.... :-[ :-[ :-[ I better let them out...they'll suffocate...

Those boxes look a great means of storage, Damo, and the re-use of the velvet base is a good idea.
I use a system similar to the small drawer units plus some dividable carry cases for DIY use from B&Q. I'll post some photos of them.

It's not a joke. I really did that.
My mum used to feed my playmo donkey. She would put a bucket in front of it and lower it's neck untill it's muzzle was in the bucket. She felt sorry for it because I wouldn't feed it.

From Praktiker : http://www.praktiker.gr/praktiker-international/html/en/839/index.html
http://www.praktiker.com/pb/site/praktiker_com/node/337390/Len/index.html
There is an option for the english version, if the links don't work directly! I don't think there is a praktiker in the US, but I do recall seeing one in the wider London area 6 years ago...I think they have closed down...
I am sure there are similar shops with similar products in the US!

These are on offer at playmobil.de and would be useful for klickies with a large number of accessories or small sets of klickies.

I use the following: 1st attachment for steck and these ones http://www.mazzeispa.com/ (go to prodotti then to brico & storage and I mostly use the 4rth on the row 34,5L
The first cost 25 euros and the second 8 euros... Of course there is so much variety you can get cheaper!

They look good too, Panos! (we will have to see what Ikea.co.uk stocks) :crossed:
I like boxes with strong clip on lids, and ones that are as square as possible to take the most stuff, without all those silly innie and outie bits if you know what I mean

Praise indeed, although not exactly a definite commitment to Playmobil. :)

We use these exact same boxes. And then my Steck collection is in:
http://www.ikea.com/nl/nl/catalog/products/20089242
All sorts of boxes from the Trofast range.
I need to make a trip to the Ikea soon again to get more though...I have too much Steck....for the boxes I currently own...so I need more Boxes first...and then more STECK!!

Hi
Those are actually neat looking storage containers Damo. They look so toy-ish and compliment the Playmobil well.
We use the plain old Sterilite boxes from Target. I get them on sale for $1 for a small (6 quart) and $1.50 for a medium (16 quart)
I also found those drawers at Target for $15-ish .
Here are some old pics

This is a great workspace, Rasputin! I really like the drawers that you got at Target. I looked for something similar at Walmart today, but no deal. Sounds like an expedition to Target is in my future. ;D
-
WOW Rasputin. Thats a very nice set up. Those cabinets look really useful!
[kidding]
But I would like to give you some advice. Either you need to give your laborers some rest once in a while or you should make sure that the task better fits their skill. I mean come on! That on in the front isn't able to lift the chainsaw. So either make sure he is in a physical better shape or give him a bit less work. I just want to make sure you don't get into any union trouble.

I don't know if it's the same all around Europe, but this week LIDL are selling these really handy storage boxes (can't find the links though, sorry). They have two types: one's one of these thin-ish compartmental boxes grown-ups use for nails, screws etc; the other's much deeper, the top part has about four compartments and can be removed. Both cost less than 10Euro each although I forgot the exact amount. I think I'll be going again to buy another of the smaller ones: incredibly handy for storing the smaller parts.
(having said all this, no amount of 'musical storage boxes' seems to be working for me: the collection is getting bigger, and the space is getting smaller) ::)

Saw nothing at the local Target that could be used. ::) Back to Walmart and found myself in the sports department and the fishing isle. Found these covered trays that are supposed to be for fish hooks, lures, etc. I think they were just the ticket for all the small house parts that go astray. Good ol' Walmart! :P

Yes that tackle box type is very useful, I have 5 or 6 of them in that size and a few smaller ones as well. Another thing to watch out for in those areas is the small stacking plastic jars. There is one lid and the compartments screw into the bottom of the one above. I use them for small parts that are hard to fish out of bigger spaces - like flower petals. Watch out for prices and check across departments. At the Fred Meyer here they have the same tackle box in the fishing department and in the hardware department - just with different labels. The hardware one is more expensive than the one in fishing for some reason.

I have never come across anything like that before, so I suppose we don't get them in this country :-\

I don't know about other countries, but here plastic storage is very expencive, so it doesn't seem right spending so much money on just a box, when it could be spent on buying more Playmobil :D

This tool-tower is made of 12 storage-magazins, 4 squaresize boards, 1 turning plate and a thicker board with 4 rolling wheels underneath.
It contains all my spareparts of figures.
-
I do like this Martina,
I like the idea that it can be turned around and moved where ever it is needed - I keep all my spares in sets of smallish drawers, but they are in various places and I tire of carrying them to where they are needed.

You can get those stacking plastic jars at GNC. ;D They are sold as pill cases. (My husband works at GNC.)

I got this 18ltr 'Really Useful Box' last week, brand new in a charity shop for £4! 8-)
And we all know these 'Really Usuful Boxes' can cost quite a bit more than a playmobil set to buy, which is why I haven't bought a load to house my collection otherwise I would because they are simply supurb.
(http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/3308/picture010qy.jpg) (http://img253.imageshack.us/i/picture010qy.jpg/)
It stores my straight tracks in, which you can get 4 stacks in nicely 8-)
And it stows nicely under my bed too, which Mum is very happy about :yup:
(it cleary stuff out of the lounge) ;D
