Hi everyone
Positive news!
Look what I just saw on the German "Klickywelt"-forum;
The Katalog 2010/2011 has been released and the first pictures of new sets for fall/winter 2010/2011 have been posted on Klickywelt by Klickwelt-member "Tamino".
There's all kind of new stuff, personally I'm really excited by the Pirate-Blister (real cool pirate and an evenly cooool English Redcoat soldier!!) and a beautiful "Christopher Knight"...
And beautiful horses!
here's the Link (more pictures there):

I almost forgot: there's an "interesting" asian special ;)

Thanks for the pics, hadoque! :)
There look to be some great upcoming sets! The new horses look quite good. (My wife, who used to ride and compete, really likes them!) The samurai will please many and, I hope, hints at an upcoming theme. The princess blister pack could be used to make some Roman ladies. The pirate and soldier blister pack will be very useful, as the redcoat soldier looks great!
-
4748 Samurai!!!!
too excited to post more...
-
Thanks for posting these and the link, Hadoque. I'd noticed them on klickywelt but hadn't had the time to do anything about them.
There's not much that interests me as yet, but the horses look beautiful as you say, and no doubt Tiermann will be over the moon with them.
I like the "naked" motor bike.
Thanks again.
-
Great news indeed. Really some awesome sets. The Knight and the Samurai are clearly the eye catchers for me.
Thanks for sharing Hadoque!

Does the st Christopher knight have a new model shield?
Beside that, the horse-farm theme seems to be a big seller, so they made horses for it?
My nieces will be very happy with those!!!
-
Knight kristopher is so awesome!!! I want 20 of those!!!!!!
Also love the samurai!!!! And the English readcoat in the pirate blister!!!!
Fantastic!!! Thank you hadoque!!!
-
Thank you so much for sharing these with us Hadoque

thanks thanks thanks for the news.....LOVE THE NEW SETS
-
Love the idea of introducing an official samurai special, but he looks kind of weird....
I love 4749 and the PIRATE blister the most.
And 4751 is technically is the carbon copy of the blue fairy....no love :-[
-
And the new design of horses..... :o
-
The Christopher Knight really looks superb, especially the coat of arms on the shield.
-
Very, very nice. I LOVES the horses.
-
A lot of cool stuff here:
Pirates, (a reuse of the steck base, slightly lighter colour?).Shame the red coat doesn't has a rifle...
The horses are also really neat! Now you can make a cavalry charge with some passion!
All the specials looks lame except the SAMURAI off course. I hope there will be a different samurai as easter egg!
-
Are the new horses legs different, because some have different leg positions :hmm:
I absolutely LOVE those motorbikes! :inlove: :inlove: :inlove:
Thanks for this sneak preview, hadoque :)
Damo :)
-
Looking at the specials, does it mean we are going to see the rebirth of the WESTERN theme? and ASIAN WAR as well??
-
Hmmm, nice sets
Liking the new motorbikes the best I think and also Knight Christopher.
The specials often point to new themes so fingers are crossed for the Samurai and Western themes.
We had a space shuttle take along and space ranger special this year and now an astronaut special for next year so it looks likely there may be a space theme....I will reserve judgement on that one!!
I didn't see a release date for the bikes but hopefully it will be December in time to make it under the Xmas tree ;D

Love the idea of introducing an official samurai special, but he looks kind of weird....
How would you like the Samurai to look (apart from in focus)? ??? He looks a pretty good first go to me, apart from not carrying his katana and wakisashi in his belt. Customisers will fix that using a waist belt and shoulder belt, and hopefully Playmobil will design a proper two-sword belt later.
The first special in a new "theme" (as we're hoping) seems to be designed to test the water, and is never as good as the full theme klickies (see the original Roman Specials). I think this figure is a tester, and when he sells in the 100s of 1000s he'll spawn at least a follow-up, but hopefully a whole theme.
Looking at the specials, does it mean we are going to see the rebirth of the WESTERN theme? and ASIAN WAR as well??
Probably not, though it'd be nice. There was a Cowboy not so long ago, now we're getting a Native American to balance him (and a very nice one too, definitely one I'll buy several of).
I barely glanced at the new horses, they still look like they're walking rather than galloping, but I guess they are more realistic than the previous lot. I still prefer the originals that can balance on their tails.
-
@Martin
I agree to your point the testers are always not as good as the main theme, and I think this samurai doesnt show the essence of japanese warrior, where their helmet should be decorated with some bizarrely designed parts. I love to study their helmet when I went to the museum and castle in Japan. Though I am not a Japanese, I love their helmets and armors 8}

Thanks for the pics, hadoque! :)
The ladies in your fifth attachment (duo_1.JPG) are gorgeous!
I also like the look of the larger fairy in the 4008 superset. Pretty dress!
Some very exciting developments there which I hope means interesting new themes are also on the horizon.
-
I love the bikes! I need some for my biker gang! ;D

I like the new horses. They will still blend with the previous versions (unlike the original horses) but will add variety to your displays.

Knight Chrostopher , will get 40 or so and make them royal horsed guard, they do look very nice !!!

I like the horses and the cool Samurai!
Best regards,
Jimbo

Overall I think we can conclude that the samurai is well received.
-
I LOVE the new horses! So cute, and I hadn't even thought about how they have never produced different breeds of horses. Really awesome. That little zoo superset is kinda cute, too. might be useful.

WOW...I love your reaction.
I myself would like a new ninja, instead of the old one who looks like a dimsum waiter >:D
-
Thanks for the pictures, captain!! I like the Christopher knight very much. The axes knight special reminds me at the somewhat exaggerated knight outfits during tournaments. Very cool and romantic design of the helmet decoration piece.
The horses are very nice, wondering if the medieval saddlecloths fit on at least some of them :prays:
The dragon superset, is eh, weird. Thanks Geobra for having two distinct knight themes.

Ehm I thought ninja and samurai are not the same?
-
Ehm I thought ninja and samurai are not the same?
Not close enough no!!! Samurai is noble fighter class living according to a certain code of honor... ninja is a covert agent, a mercenary if you will, used for sabotage, espionage, assasination!!! Two sides of the same coin!!!
-
The Christopher Knight does look good. The pirate superset looks like the 5863 or 5862 (can't remember which one) castle superset with pirates instead.
-
Ehm I thought ninja and samurai are not the same?
I mean......other than this new samurai.....would love to see playmobil making another new ninja
-
...because there's never too many people shouting it  ...
SAMURAI!!!!
;D

I don't check PF for a few days and look what I miss!
Thanks hadoque for posting this info and let me repeat what many others have said here...
Samurai!!!!!
and that Medicine man is great too!

As one who practices Kendo and Iaido I can tell you they (Samurai and ninja) are not the opposite sides of the same coin. They are from opposite coins altogether.
Your description of their beliefs/actions is pretty spot-on, though.

Do you guys read japanese or chinese? There is a cool RPG game designed by KOEI, where you play as an individual in the ancient Japan. You could be a merchant, sword maker, ninja or samurai whatsoever you choose, which is awesome!!!!! 8-)

Howdy
Thank you hadoque for taking the time to post the pictures of the new sets :wow:
Are the glasses on 5112 set printed or are they removable ? I do not have many horse themed items and do not recognize these.
The 5117 looks like an angry Asian on a rice rocket  I must have a gang of these
I am glad the chopper is back as I need parts and the new color is welcomed
The other sets are looking good and I will be getting them in 2012 >:(
I sure do hope this new Samurai and the new Asian zoo is a taster of things to come :crossed:
Thanks again for making my wallet feel a bit lighter

Thast would be an interesting playmo move but what about the romans .. so further sets were developed , no roman houses , no agora ( market) , no hannibal army and elephants, what a shame that is .. playmobil created the egyptians which i think is on eof the best themes ever but even better ( imo always) were the romans and what a shame that only an arena was made and a few battle sets ... Playmobil left this undone and i hop eif they start with an Asian set they dont do the same .. want to see huts of mongol warriors and who knows japanese houses and gardens with samurai and japanese foot soldiers with banners and lit bowls of rice ... that would be so nice !!!!! In steck please ....

Hi
As much as I too liked the Romans from what I understood it did not sell well enough to justify its continuation or expansion. Historical themes are very popular with collectors and adults but these need to sell in large quantities to parents who buy for their children especially at Christmas time. I really do not see this happening these days with the emasculation of the male species. War toys brings out creative war play the masses do not seem to be interested in.
With the popularity of things like Mighty Morphan Powers and Teenage Mutant Turtles maybe the Asian theme would have a much better chance in the US. When you go to the park you will see kids playing ninja quite often but you will never see them playing Romans .

Those are all great! I have to get me some of the Knight Kristopher sets. He looks awesome!  I like the Samurai and the Redcoat in the pirate blister pack. Thanks hadoque for the pics!

The new horses are interesting but definitely not interchangeable for knights etc. The saddles may be standard but no way will existing barding or caparison work. Having said that the chances of my being proven wrong have just gone up I expect. ;)
The Samurai is a nice development but not entirely unexpected. I really like the new Knight, hopefully he will be available world wide eventually.

Here's a scan of the horses: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5507883/Playmobil/pferderassen.jpg

Thank you for the scans d-fens!!! THese are rally wonderfull!!!
-
The pictures for the new sets are up on the PM german website - now we can have a closer look at the new stuff. The special knight has a new leg molding, I think, and it is interesting how they solved the problem of full chest armor vs belt/scabbard by using the scabbard from the Mongolian special and attaching it to the klicky's hip. It would've suited me fine had they come up with a new scabbard, but they didn't and it looks a bit silly with the sword poking out ::) What do you think?
Apart from that, I like the Indian doctor but I am not crazy about the lime-coloured astronaut - the old one in white looked much, much better.
-
Thanks for the Update Bolingbroke!
-
thank you for the alert bolingbroke. oh it is so hard to wait for the sets to come to the us. i LOVE the new christmas sets, all of them, but especially 4884, at last a stable for the nativity set, instead of the pirate's island shack, or the egyptian robber's home.

I have been looking and re-looking at the samurai custom, over and over again...
And each time I grow to like it a little less... :hmm:
I mean look (http://www.playmobil.de/on/demandware.store/Sites-DE-Site/de_DE/Product-Show?pid=4748&cgid=Special).
He is very bulky,
His helmet doesn't look right,
and there is no new sword carrier, they didn't even use the sheath the new Knight has... New Sheath. (http://www.playmobil.de/on/demandware.store/Sites-DE-Site/de_DE/Product-Show?pid=4746&cgid=Special)
Which would have looked better then hanging it on his back.
Still the lamellar looks nice, and though it it still a little bulky, it will look great on infantry. :)
All I would think of doing is switching out the helmet for these (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30%2007%206450).
The Mounted Samurai can have swapped out legs. Like these (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=k4811).
And their Helms for the "old fashioned" Samurai Helms. ;)
I really like the sword though! ;D
-
Thanks for sharing these - there are some great sets there. Looking forward to getting the fairy blister pack especially - I really need some more Roman ladies!
Elaine :)

I have been looking and re-looking at the samurai custom, over and over again...
You mean the Samurai Special? A custom is something NOT produced by Playmobil, but made by using parts from different official figures.
Bear in mind that the early Roman specials were not as good as the final theme figures. I'm confident that I'll buy 10 to 20 of this Samurai, and if it leads to a full theme I'll be buying the whole theme twice over at least.

Right! Ooops!
Thanks Martin. I too will probably buy several of these sets too. :)
(No matter how much I "complain". ;) )

Thank you for the scans, d-fens!! I thought I'd be against breed specific horses from Playmobil as that would mean deviating from their uniform horsey look but I was wrong. They'd all still fit in wonderfully with the existing horses. I might just have to buy all of them. I can't take my eyes off that Arabian though... Playmo outdid themselves with that one, I think. :D
