I always loved the first playmobil castle, 3450! Spend so many happy hours with my cousin's castle but a couple of years ago, when I asked him if he still had it and if he could give it to me, he said he did not know where it was, he had to look for it and of course, finally that he could not find it anywhere....two possibilities... he could not care enough to look or m aunt probably threw it, or gave it, away... After that 3666 came along but I was not very interested in playmobil anymore...
Today I have 12 3666 castles and I love them!!! So many pieces to use in expanding and customising a bigger catle...even if you use all the wall sections, you still have a medieval house to use by its own!!!
I am in the process of reconstructing a 3450, but the 3666 offers more possibilities!!!

Oops! I accidentally voted for 3667 when I meant to vote for 3666! :omg:
Although I don't own 3666, it looks good with the round tower.
Maybe when I see 4865 in person it will change my mind, although I don't think I'll like the tab building system.

It has to be the 3666 no competition for most playvalue, accessories and Klickies
Damo :)

I voted for 3667,
It was my first castle, and since I don't have a 3666
I can't compare them well. :)

3666 provides the best domestic setup in any of the castles, a factor that has been missing in almost every other castle set. It's easy to add more fighters to any castle, but difficult to get hold of civilians. It is also infinitely customisable and expandable, and the round tower adds a touch of class.
I've collected several 5725 sets, though you can't build a complete castle with one or even two of this set. It was a nice variation of color, but didn't provide all the steck pieces in the dark color, so building options are still slightly limited.
You missed out 5783 which was a small System X castle, and 5803 which is a take along castle.

I almost voted fo 3666, because its such a classic, but I had to go with 4866, the new one, because i think it's really cool. I like the general shape of it, with the "curved" front wall. Lots of features, very imposing looking, and I love the great new colors.

Hi
The 3666 has the most parts, is the largest castle and is one of the most complete castles available. Being stecks it gives easy expansion possibilities such as the 3445 bell tower or basically any stecks set. It has a living quarters, realistic look as far as walls/colors and it is relatively easy to build . It also came with some peasants which seem to be lacking in so many playmobil sets these days.
My vote is 3666

One of my favourite polls :)
I voted for 3450! 3666 would come right behind it. To me, the ultimate castle would be a 3666 and its accessories but with 3450's green bull's eye glass windows in it instead of the heraldic tower windows, and with the balcony included.

The 3450 is the first castle I bought - when the 3666 came out - Hans Christian Toys had a 3450 on sale for about 1/2 price. I really liked the look of the 3666, though, with more colour and the round tower and the banners.
So, yes, the 3666 is my favourite and have gotten a couple of them over the years, as well.
That said, I do like all of Playmobil's castles, each for their own reasons. However, the 1990's for knights was the biggest leap forward and in comparison still to this day, I do not think Playmobil has even tried to come close to that magnificent improvement. I still hope they do, though. Maybe they will re-introduce civilians and medieval life into their range.
Instead of just marketing some of the line towards girls and some solely towards boys I believe a great opportunity for cross-over exists. Why not have brothers and sisters playing together? Or just boys and girls in general being able to play together?

Very nice thread playmo1989 8-) , i was actually thinking of posting such thread as these posts/pols are flavor of the month in our lovely forum these days .
The 3450 was my first castle and i have pictures as a kid setting it up the day i bought it in the late 70s. Ans what a great set / toy that was back then . its quality was unmatched , the nuremberg guards looked awesome in the gray steck soyrroundings and the deep red tiles matched perfectly . A genious toy design all together !!!!
Its been with me intact since then and in total, i have 4 x 3450, 3 x 3446, 6 x 3666, 2 x 3665, 6 x 3467, 1 x 3274 , 4x 3123 and 1 x 3030.
I remember expanding my 3450 when my best friend ( and best man in my wedding ..) gave me his 3450s and 3446s was a great day !!!!!!!!
My favourite is the 3666 and i would have bought many more as its best feature and a great steck development was the round tower. But i have so many steck houses and gates , i am only looking for a few more round towers. 3467 is a great set also , love its castle entrance and the raised fortifications of the tower, makes the square towers much more useful and stronger for defence...
Especially in the past year i have bought lots of steck , i estimate ( and thats a good estimate) about 10 x 3446 on top of the above ( minus the yellow wind direction indicator )
The new system x castles, phhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!, i would buy any of them. They are awful in my opinion .
I also really like the Baron's castle- 3665 - the dragon's lair was such a lovely detail when they came out !!!!
I have voted for the 3666. As a hardcore Steck enthusiast let me just say 3666 is the best , complete set Playmobil ever produced. Sold for so many years and the best proof that playmobil needs to abolish these rubbish system x and even worse clip castles that are non realistic, cheap and non expandable and well they are not playmobil more like playbig ( almost identical !!) and like the cheapish chinese toy mediaval castles sold in fairs etc .. ridiculus and wont buy them, i will stick to me steck collection.
3666 is the King of castles !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I voted for 3666! I love this castle! But 3268 would come second for me in favorites.
Nice thread playmo1989.

I can't see the poll because I'm on my phone but I would have to vote for the 3666.
-
I had a hard time picking. It had to be steck, oh...but which one? I went with the 3450, with the 3666 right behind. I like the simple set up. But I really like all the klickies and the gate in the rock of the Baron's tower.
I have to admit, though, some of the color combinations from the new castles are intriguing!

Glad to see the 3666 toping the charts as I was expecting. Best Playmobil official standard set , ever !!!!!!!!!!!!

I just bought the 3268 knights empire castle last weekend because I know its going on the chopping block. Its a great castle. Its not steck but it is high quality and a great addition to my collection. Still would like PM to bring back steck!
