Title: What do you think of this new set?
Post by: Lindama on July 24, 2010, 06:12:32
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/PLAYMOBIL-Agenten-Hauptquartier-mit-Alarmanlage-4875-/160459751907?cmd=ViewItem&pt=DE_Allesf%C3%BCrKind_Spielzeug_Playmobil&hash=item255c2581e3

I immediately thought of the setting for customisation, but not sure of the rest of it.

No way!!! Absolutely no way!! I am sorry Linda! This is not playmobil for me!

Secret agents? James Bond? Click Bond might like it, but its one think to make a custom out of playmobil on a secret agent theme (and click bond does it fantastic) and another to see an actual top agents theme... Maybe click bond can make something good out of it though!

Personally, it reminds me of all the bad taste versions of the greatest secret agent of all times...

---edit----

Or maybe skypurr juniour can make a great space station out of it! or a lunar base! ;)

I think this new set and theme is absolutely horrible and I hope it is a failiure as I wish not to see it everytime I go to the shops.

Well that's my opinion anyway - cheap and tacky >:D

That is a very clever idea!
I can easily see it fitting into that setting just by changing the figures to astronauts.

If only it would come in a modular SysX-version...  ::)
I like the theme, I especially look forward to the spy-camera to be build in the car.
A childhood dream comes true... :)

And I agree there would be a wonderful number of new parts for custom buildings, but I am afraid - at least it looks like that on the pictures I have seen so far - that you cannot vary the building a lot.  :'(

Reminds me of the Bat Cave. Oh crikey, of course, this is another click-system construction with no possibility of customising or expanding the building.  :'( If ionly they'd revert to System X, we could have used our existing collections and sets to enhance it, but now it is forever a stand-alone.

I'm not sure how they won an Innovation award for copying Lego's Agents theme. Maybe the award can only be given to German toy companies?

Like most people here, I'm not a big fan of this theme per se, but it would provide a LOT of interesting parts for use in other themes, so I'll probably buy many of the sets eventually. Maybe I'll even like them when I have my hands on them. I notice a lot of the older Space theme molds being recycled, so maybe I could use these sets to expand my Space collection as Wolf Knight suggested.

This theme doesn't appeal to me personally, but I know my brother would have loved it when we were kids. I think it will be interesting to see if it sells. I think might really appeal to kids, especially boys. Makes me think of Get Smart.

I don't really like any of these sets. The secret agents aren't my theme anyways but I wouldn't buy it for anything!
I don't like it at all!

The bidding has ended on this item.

Here is the pic:

I don't like this theme, by the way. It just hasn't got it. I is a bad copy of the lego-theme. Some nice new parts by the way.

And the set isn't sys x, as said before. Is system X totally finished now? No more new sets?

Personally I like the concept. Not entirely sure about the set itself until I can see it better (¿can it be expanded?). I plan on getting one as soon as possible, and maybe if I don’t like it so much use it to expand another set (most likely a castle).

Yeah Andrew, I had thoughts of it being used for a castle type theme too. I would be interested in a review when you eventually get one. I might watch some of these sets on ebay to see how they sell.

Actually, I like it quite a lot-  but I have yet to find a good pic of the back(front) side-  that will sell it for me.  I heard its meant to be disguised as a house on a hill.  Anyone got a good pic?

Hello

At first I thought it was a cheep looking knock off and it really is but I know our boys will like all the features it has especially the RC car w/camera. I find it interesting and will be getting all the sets just to complete the Playmobil collection.

I would have to agree that this particular set would make a great castle theme torture dungeon, that is after you strip it all down. I did not know it was to be a house/cave so maybe it will not work for this. I guess we will have to wait and see a thorough review of it to find out.

I quite like it and I do think that as a kid, I would have been tempted by it especially for the communications gadgets

I think they will for today's kids...

I think they will for today's kids...

Not sure about this . This set even the colours white with red etc is so so 80s , not so sure this would catch up with kids , in that theme domain there are sets with far more aggresive weaponry, missile launchers , machine guns, lasers, grenades etc , this playmobil set pales in comparison in terms of aggressiveness and weapons etc, i doubt kiddies that want army like toyz will fall for this .. too soft for todays kids, too harsh for playmobil ethics and design ethos that its founder instilled , aww well its bound to fail in my opinion

Playmobil should make a scientific set , based on NASA space crafts , satellites and future plans etc , that would appeal more to the parents that usually buy playmobil ( in my opinion a more suburban market segment as playmobil is not a cheap toy as toys mentioned above - large cheap sets with lots of weapons and missiles etc) and they should add to their toy lines some educational DVDs perhaps with klickies describing our solar system etc . So many neat more scientific spacecrafts could be made more in the lines of the playmospace series which was SUCCESSFULL for a change !!! The recent playmobil space and alien lines were a flop...

While I can see its appeal to boys, I personally don't like this theme and it doesn't strike me as being very "Playmobil".

How about for a Playmobil 'Joe 90' set or even 'Thunderbirds'?

I dont think playmobil will ever be interested in licences for old toy lines at all. And if someone knows the themes that playmoibl brings onto the markets in the past 35 years or so and their features, this question / suggestion is science fiction.

LOL  No, Playmobil would never do anything with those, but the customization possibilities are there.

Yes, they are quite cool.

I love surfing on the Germany site, as they carry a lot more item than other countries. Just wonder are they also available in other non-export markets?

Hi Linda!  Have you seen the  360 degree view (http://download.playmobil.com/3D_Scenes/DE/4875.htm) of the set on the Playmobil.de website?  You can see the set from all sides and zoom in as desired.  There are also 3 "missions" you can click on which are animations of the set's action features.

I have to say, this looks like a very cool and fun set!   :yup:
