Title: Do you name your klickies?
Post by: Heronimus on July 05, 2010, 07:09:23
OK, let's be more realistic. I know you people have troops of klickies, this might be hard to give them unique names. What about the special characters in your picture taking and on display? Do they have unique names??

Hello Heronimus

Absolutely ! Let me introduce you to Mr & Mrs Macclesfield

(http://img810.imageshack.us/img810/8420/35025048.jpg) (http://img810.imageshack.us/i/35025048.jpg/)

(http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/4798/86573562.jpg) (http://img441.imageshack.us/i/86573562.jpg/)

(http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/725/97622434.jpg) (http://img337.imageshack.us/i/97622434.jpg/)

I remember giving them the name of "Macclesfield" when I first purchased my Victorian collection back in the summer of 1990 and I sat down one evening looking at a geographic atlas looking for "British" names and "Macclesfield" sounds just perfect to me  :)

I take them with me on my trips around the UK this summer and you can follow their joyous tribulations in the Members News section   in the thread "Playmovictorian's Escapades around the UK"...

They will next board the Shakespeare Express with me  8-)

And to develop your question, I also give names to the principal characters of my dioramas. For example, my new diorama "Summer Garden Party on Regent St" will have a Head Gardener Lady called Miss Periwinkle, not to forget the famous actress Sarah Bernhardt and the opera singer Maria Malibran each competing for the limelight  As far as the Gentlemen are concerned, I have invited Sherlock Holmes, I am still looking for Dr Watson and I will introduce you to a French Gentleman Thief in the name of Arsene Lupin  ;)

Karim :)

In photo stories, I have named my Klicky's that are directly in the spot light. I don't name all of them, or talk to them individually though :hmm:! To name Klicky's starring in photo stories gives more of a realistic feel!

I really want to name the key players in my projects......but i am unsure how to name them... On the other hand, i just use a title for some of them, like the Grand Admiral, or the Royal Guard etc...

I usually name klickies for the purposes of a Photostory, but they won't necessarily retain the same name when the story is finished. That may change now I have more indoor and outdoor space to develop different themes and worlds for the klickies in that theme. e.g. for two moderately-sized themes (Western and Adventure) in my collection, I'm dreaming up stories and scripts and the characters may well retain the same identities for further stories.

Well in my early days as a kiddo in the late 70s / early 80s  the king of my mediaval klickies was called ' Conquestador Don Giorgino Velasquez Madreta ' i didnt know back then that these were nuremberg knights  :-[ :-[ :-[  and i thought of them as conquestadors ( the nuremberg guard cannon was  very conquestador style , as was some of their weaponry) .

Also my pirate leader was called ' Pirate Jack OakLeg' and the leader of my space playmobil ( destroyed by flood ) Dr Dave Bowman ( my tribute back then to 2001 : A space Odyssey) .

Very nice to read who names his klickys and why.

There were a couple of klicky I named when I was a wee lad. There was the green archer 3337 who was of course Robin Hood, although he had a crossbow and now a long bow. Should have been William Tell of course.

There was 3379, who was Ivanhoe. And the pirate captain was Redbeard and the red pirate was Erik, after the comicbooks.

There is my avatar, Ali Baba. Made a kind of arabian prince and needed a fairy tale name.

I do give klickys nicknames. 4530 is spider witch for example. The monk 3631 is Tuck. 4516 is Peter.

(I missed quite a few interesting threads by Heronimus :( .. If you allow me, I'll dig a few of them up ::) )

Martin does wish to give names to all his Romans (and write it under their wigs). I'm not sure he already accomplished that ;D

I hope to name all or most of the ones I have. (All right, my collection is very small, I'm in around 60-65 (entire) klickys (& a few disassembled parts).)

I have a list with the names of all characters, including those who have, eventually to be disassembled, in order to give me new ones ... (Then I keep two numbers, one of actual klickys and one of number of characters 8} )

:knight:
Knights & Annis Domini
(1000-1400)

The main characters remain always in action, which are Elmo & Fletcher, and their friends. (Main ones are Feorctegot, Nomy Carrot, Gus, the Sarge Petre, among others, including rivals & enemies.)

Fletcher's troop-mates, Sarge, Lucky and Proudo. Lucky is Bertram's nickname, and Proudo is Ilario. Most all of them have family names as well, and a general lineage trace, specially the nobles, as usual.
The Tapian soldiers are Master Belteszazzar (currently disassembled :-[ ), Mark (disassembled :( ), Luke (former Master Bel), Gus, Mateo & Romeo. (Soon to arrive Gloridan & Glorezel, and a new klicky version of Romeo :woohoo: ) Their leader is Lord Tirio, Elmo's Grandpa.
Their rivals & enemies have names, but I'll mention only the knights: Sir Dildrus, disputing the Tapian crown, and Sir Goren, one allied with the Makedonians (of Rufos Makedonios and his archer, Nikos, they haven't appeared yet. Oh, and there's Rufon, the civilian keeper of the Acz! :yup:
I may have forgotten someone.

:roman: :viking:
My Romans are:

Cn. Paruos Erinion, Flavianus, Isidorius and Iustinus,
together with Norsemen, Taodan & prince Fromgar. The Dragon was later named Kranangh, when he flew away to the Degandorf mountains. By the time of the Glamerine's Mirror story, he's known as "Dragon".
There's another Roman, the vilain, he's called Gimildor.

& :captain:
Pirates,

second main branch of stories, however these I haven't found ways of turning into literature yet ... :-[ I'm an awful fellow to write in the Contemporary Age (i.e., after the French Revolution ...)

They are:
Aubrey Carpenter, Joe Cartagena & Gus (Johnson).
Dan Davies, Black Phil (disassembled, to give place to) Jerry Wilhelmsen, Miss Tareja Keychain, Jack Milner, and Italian Bart; this is the party of Dan Davies.
& There be vilains!, Jim Baker, Roy (gave place to) Mr. Spoon, and Manolo Yuyopac.
& others, not part of any of these groups: Doll (whose actual name is Olivia), Ben Scoundrel (Rustysaber) & Donald Milner (Powderbarrel), and Taroq Danga, from distant Sahara. (I may have forgotten someone ...)

 :sorrow:
(The candle goes for Renaissance & Barroque ;) )

There are two Renaissance fellows, Giacommo & Don Fredenando (whose skull is later a companion to Joe Cartagena, and narrator of his stories ...).

 :bunny:
And there's a couple of characters that I use from medieval to pirates:

Raven, Nardo and Nomy, and Rufon.

Also, I have a few contemporary klickys, a few of them without story ( :cowboy: Hank Tucker, Confederate soldier (because he looks good, in his sideburns :P ). The only two klickys I have here without names are Union soldiers #1 & #2 ... Who knows in the future I'll do something with them, but I find it very unlikely as stories; only as "playmohistory" portraits ...)

Fred and Masie don't have a story by me, it's a couple of PlaymoFriends' community characters. They interact with Gus, who is, supposedly, the playmo' representative (legal agent & director) of # Gus' Little Theatre Room (see in the PFZ), together with me! :P
Title: Re: Do you name your klickies?
Post by: Gustavo on October 09, 2010, 05:12:46
(I counted 54, in the two threads above. together with the ones not mentioned, it'll do 59 klickys, and 68 characters in all. :) Not counting up the two that will arrive ...)

So, up to this day, I can say that pretty much all of my assembled klickys have names. Not too difficult a task ::) all right ...

(Difficult was to make the lineage of Sir Elmo, but I do have this as well, back to the IXth century! :P -- Call me crazy.)

Anyways, playmobil is a greeeeat excuse for writing stories. (In my case.)

Gus

(Oh, I have quite a few characters of the old collection, that is gone ... :P Better not mention them here. People must already be tired of my long list of characters ::) They aren't a great number of klickys but they are a pretty big number of names ...)

I have named every single one of my Knights,
and all Medieval people.

I am debating weather or not to continue and do the same for my Romans...
(I probably will)

When I was little I created names for them...
But I never really remembered their names past a day or so. :P
So they kept changing. ::)
Not too much, as I would remember basically what their names were,
Like how they sounded, or a few letters in them.

But when I heard about a collectors who writes
all their names on paper and sticks them in their heads...
I couldn't resist! ;D

I just get them from a name generator.
I just click the type of name I want my people to have, (Norse, Roman, English... etc.)
Then I refresh the page, each time it shows me a new name. :)

I am much to lazy to make my own names for all my Klickies,
Just the main ones. ::)
