i thought why playmobil doesn't care for it's history and we collectors had to search and find which sets have been prodused in which years .why??

To exist, Playmobil must make a profit and so recording the company's detailed history by, for example, keeping a history of when products were first produced and when production stopped and so on is not high on the list of priorities, especially in the past when such information was stored on paper and only in one form - i.e. to extract information and reorder it meant going through lots of documents and then producing other documents from them. I am sure that what has happened is that Playmobil has had the information and in recent times has been able to take advantage of Axel's work when creating Playmobil Collector and use electronic means to store the information they hold so it can be accessed and ordered in different ways. As a result, for example, you now have the archive pages Martin directed you to.
I think you would find very few companies who have ready and full access to their history.

If I look into my own company - most historical material we have is because no one bothered to clear it. As soon new cupboard space was needed or offices were moved all historical documents go straight into the bin.
It takes up room and it costs too much time and effort ( = money) to store it adequately.
It's a pity - but it's the truth.
There's no social nor historical aspect within companies anymore. It's all about money and how to make it.
That's it.

My company bought a rather large company from an ex communist country . They have a museum , statue of their founder, archived pictures and old equipment all stored and some displayed. Some lessons to be learned from that .... one has to lookat japanese companies to see their attitute towards their firms and their past. simply amazing .... !!!!!!

and how about the moulds and pieces that might needed in the future they didn't think of that? i'am sure playmobil is keeping the records now of the new produced items?

They kept them and that is why they can reissue old vehicles and figures, for example in the DS Classic series. The cost of these moulds is such that thye are not thrown away or broken up.
