Title: Lightweight low loader
Post by: flatcat on June 26, 2010, 11:19:04
Hello Playmofriends

I am in the process of creating a city service/ council fleet (thus why I am asking for 3121's)

And here is the first - A lightweight low loader used for collecting old cars for scrapping; a service which my Playmobil town council provide for free, as it helps the environment.

It is also used for transporting council vehicles, and for use in recovering broken down refuse trucks.

(http://img541.imageshack.us/img541/4231/200911060002.jpg) (http://img541.imageshack.us/i/200911060002.jpg/)

(http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/5832/200911060003.jpg) (http://img411.imageshack.us/i/200911060003.jpg/)

(http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/2300/200911060004.jpg) (http://img171.imageshack.us/i/200911060004.jpg/)

Here is a real one for comparison; the only difference between this one and my one is that it is fitted with a hiab.

The difference between this and a regular tractor unit, is this one only has 2 axles, with smaller wheel, where a normal heavy haulage one would have 3 axles and large wheels.

Oh dear, it is a bit big :-[

Thanks for looking,
Damo :)

The truck is from set 3121. I removed the refuse back from it.

To get the trailer connections bit, I took it from the truck of this low loader, but the chassis and this bit had to be filed etc to get them to marry up.

The black storage box came from the truck from the sunset express, but I will be changing it for a different coloured one

And then the low loader came straight from the mega haulage set 4084

So a fairly basic custom

I get the best results by taking pics outside, and the Playmobil looks more real and lifelike outside :)

¿Where did you get the yellow lights? I ask because I wanted to do a Security Services vehicle, and they’re not allowed to have red or blue lights.

The yellow lights come with the green refuse truck 3121. The light units can be dissassebled, so the yellow filters can be put in a different coloured unit.

You're quite right there, Damo.  I've been taking photos indoors for the last few months and they are just not as good as outside.

Thanks for the explaination Damo - I wouldn't agree about it being simple though!  would have taken me forever to work out!

Hello Damo,

I don't get the chance to post as much as I used to, but I pop in from time to time to see what is happening. It's great to see your council fleet coming along, I work for my local council and have done so for the last 6 years. If you need any information on how things are done, how things work or anything else let me know. You can either post here or send me a PM.
