As well as the 4820 turntable ladder, I've also done some minor custom work on the two 4820 pumps.
First, I'm looking at a simple livery of red and white and I've started with the rear of the two pumps, using the red and white chevron stickers from the construction Superset. These fit perfectly to the bodywork either side of the rear locker doors.

I'm also looking at some white striping on the sides' below the lockers and I'll report on this when a decision has been made.
I've altered the ladders carried by CH/1. originally a four section ladder based on the ladder from the 3881 set was carried. However, this has been altered to consist two full length ladders and two custom short ladders. The short ladders can be used either as single lengths, e.g. when needing access over a low wall or down a bank, extended in confined spaces, or one length (the one with the hook on) can be used as a roof ladder, e.g. at a chimney fire.
First, an overall side view.

Then, the two ladders unextended.

Lastly, the two ladders extended to show their relative heights.

And, finally, just for the record, the pump with the repositioned number plate.

Apologies for the slightly wonky photos, and thank you for looking. As always, any comments (for or against) are welcome.

small details make the differences Gordon!! I like the white striping, it give the pump more character...something saying i am here to do my job...and the ladders are a great addition too. Firemen have to to fight fire in different levels...I like the changes you did to them...gives more flexibility to the firemen!!!

Thank you, Panos, those were just the effects I was wanting to achieve. :)

I think the chevrons are extremely realistic and very well done - which set do they come from (you don't mean superset do you?) :-\
The spotlights look great on the back, although the hose reel is my favourite which I have got on mine

Thank you, Damo, and I agree that the rear-mounted hose reel looks very impressive on the new pump.
The chevrons are these from 4135:

Ah, I've always seen it as being in with the construction theme, but I suppose it can really fit in with either.
