Cool! I love the collesium! AND it gives me the excuse of teaching history to the little guy
-
Thanks for the report, Tim ...
Most of had heard the rumours ... But, this is GREAT NEWS!
And a photo! WOW!
Here's the translation ...
Playmobil - the Romans are coming! ...
There are more than 90 new novelties promised by Playmobil in 2006! ... ;D
For newcomers to Playmobil and faithful fans as well, August offers a special introduction to a new Playmobil theme: the Romans are coming with nine novelty sets! ... ;D
The highlight of the ancient series is the arena with a diameter of 84 centimeters. The inside of the sturdy circular building is a place for Gladiator contests and races with the chariot. There is a Roman emperor watching the contests from his special viewing box. In this new Roman theme there is also a Roman camp with tent, a Centurion with Legionaires and a Tribune mounted on his horse. There's also a mobile siege tower, a fire catapult and a floating Roman Galley ship with crew. ... 8}
This is indeed very exciting news, Tim!
Thanks again for bringing it us ... :wow:
All the best,
Richard
-
Thank you for sharing this wonderful news with us, Tim! :D
It sounds like the fans of the Roman Specials are finally going to get the full range of sets which they have been dreaming about for a long time! The arena certainly looks very impressive. 8-)
Can't wait to see more detailed photos of the sets! It's all VERY exciting! :yup:
-
Oh this looks exciting. Unfortunately.. I would love to see more civilian type sets involved with the Roman theme.. unfortunately it looks like another theme of warriors. This first set appears lovely. I can't wait to see everything.
-
like Hoppatussa, I want the civilian sets
But this is a very cool development ( along with Cleo in the new specials)
-
Oh boy, finally ;D Thanks for posting Tim! And by the way, cool avatar ;)
-
Yes! Civilian sets would really round this off nicely. Let's keep our fingers crossed that they are planned as future updates to the theme. Much of this probably depends on how successful this first series is, so let's hope the kids like it as much as the adult collectors! :)
And by the way, cool avatar ;)
Totally cool! 8-) I love it too!
-
A great moment in the history of Playmobil...

I think I must stay away from collecting this theme.. it could be a slippery slope of hoarding all I can find.. ;D But as far as a favorite.. (since I can't see details very well on most of the items).. I know I must have Ceasar! He has a beautiful robe!

Looks like the Romans got them self some kind of missilefiring weapons...
Oh, I need and want them all. The Romans need to take care of my viking hoards :)
-
Hello, Kristian ...
Thanks for all the wonderful pictures! ... They made my head spin ... 8}
There's one nice thing about a computer screen ... You can easily clean the drool off of it ... YUK! ... :P
Like almost everyone else ... I want them all! ... :yup:
Thanks again, Kristian, and all the best,
Richard

I like the Caeser.
I rather like the colliseum. But I think I would use that for the beginings of a Roman villa.
-
Is that a female standing next to Ceasar in the big picture (the one with the Roman hordes)?
-
These are fantastic! Thank you for sharing the pictures with us.. for me, history nut that I am, these are a MUST HAVE! *Starts saving frantically* I'm guessing I've got a year to wait for them in the UK - PLENTY of time :D
A chariot..and the statues and..*wanders off to gaze at the pictures some more*

She certainly looks like a female to me, Mal ... ;)
-
Richard, you are a wiz at blowing these pics up.. I don't suppose you can show us more detail on the micro sets.. the ones in the background.. 8-)
I am glad to see one woman in the Roman theme... wish there were more though..
-
Wow, good eye Richard! I didn't even see her!
I was talking about this one ... I think it's a she, but I'm not 100% sure

Richard, you are a wiz at blowing these pics up.
Thanks, hoppatussa ... But, I can't take all the credit for that one ...
All the best,
Richard
-
YAY! I must have her! ;D
-
The chariot and the ceasar are the two must-haves in ths batch, at least for me.
(OK, who am I kidding? I must have them all!) :D
-
This is fantastic, everything I have seen is better than I had excpected.
Playmobil really has done a good job on the Romans these will sell very well, infact I bet they could get at least a whole years production from pre order sales if they did such a thing. I would normally only buy one of each set in the themes I collect but I already feel the need to buy some of the set's several times to create a large Roman army.
What I would like to know now is, can the arena be extended by additional seating to complete the full circle, what great DS add ons will we get for this theme?
-
Thanks for all the pics! I wasn't really that interested in the Roman stuff.... until NOW! :)

The Colosseum-thing is quite huge... :D

This is indeed exciting! My 1st purchases will be the collesium and at least 2 tents! (One to be customized for Psyche's fortune telling exploits.) Also the toga guy with fire, the ladies, and that awesome chariot.
Thanks for the news and photos!
-
I really like the legionaries! They are so accurate and detailed:

Building an army will be soo expensive... And I do hope geobra will expand the series with civilians next year!
-
Thanks for the close-up, Bogol ...
Do you have any more scans? ... :)9
All the best,
Richard
-
Yes Bogol - Thanks for that wonderful scan...
Those soldiers look terrific, I will probably be getting a box (or more) of those... Like I said, I am just glad to have a year to save up before those sets hit these shores.

New link here!! (http://www.playmo-portal.com/viewtopic.php?t=7775&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0)
I think I became a fan of the Roman theme this weekend... :-[
-
Kristian,
Thanks for posting the link to the German Portal and Mone-Mimi's photos.
The new sets are gorgeous.
The photos make the micro sets even for of a must have, along with the new fairy tale sets.
The Romans are growing on me, but I will try my best to resist.
Thanks again,
meg

Looking at pictures on Playmobil.de... the romans have very defined torsos! This must be a first!
-
What a year 2007 will be when all of those set's become available over here, although I probably won't be able to wait that long and buy a few set's of ebay this year. Playmobil have certainly spent a lot of time and money on new molds for the Romans and mini sets.
Thanks for the link kvart, Mone mimi's photos are better than those in the catalogue.
-
Looking at the Romans I cannot help but thinking they have created someting extremely fantastic with staying power in years. There isn't much more to add than encore.
-
Hi,
Today I tried to order the roman ship off the internet and by phone.
The person said that they wouldn't be available until august. :hissyfit:
I guess I'll just have to wait like everyone else in Europe and the U.S. >:(

Hello, Seawarrior ...
There are two Playmobil Funparks and one Playmobil Funstore in the United States.
The two Funparks in Florida (Orlando and North Palm Beach Gardens) and the Funstore in New Jersey (Woodbridge) usually always get the new sets about the same time as they are released in Germany.
However, you have to actually go to one of the three Playmobil locations to buy the new sets. THEY WILL NOT SHIP THEM TO YOU!
When I am in Fort Lauderdale, it's only about an hour's drive for me to go to the Playmobil Funpark in Palm Beach. You might want to go to the one in Woodbridge since you live in Connecticut.
If you can't visit one of these three locations, you might want to buy the new sets on line.
One of our members, Ben (Jettix2), usually has most of the new sets for sale. Since Ben has to buy them in Germany, he has to pay a premium to get them and also has to add on handling and shipping costs. If you can't get to Woodbridge and don't want to wait, then you might want to send Ben a personal message here at Playmofriends.
Good luck and all the best,
Richard
