Hi there,
I am a father of two children (one 3 yrs old and the other 4 months old). I have had some interest in toys but never in Playmobil. with my 3 yrs old son's birthday coming up, I started looking at various toys for his birthday present and ended up buying Playmobil toys for him (cargo ship, private jet, semi truck) The little did I know, I also got hooked on Playmobil! I have been buying Playmobils from local yard sales and my collection quickly grew with some old Castle (3450) and dollhouse (5300). I have been saying to my wife these are for the children. ;D
I hope to learn cool ways of expanding steck castle with what little I have and also how to set fun story telling scenes I can play with my kids.

Welcome from North Yorkshire in the UK. I have no children and therefore no excuse for buying Playmobil, but I do (and usually my wife lets me).

A warm welcome from the Netherlands 123grams. Great to have more Steck lovers here.
I only had a 6 year gap before I started buying again, when the kids came it was just an excuse to buy more. My wife is luckily as invested in PM as I am :-)
Have a great time here!

Welcome from Scotland (http://planetsmilies.net/flag-smiley-7326.gif)
After 8 years I think my husband has finally realised that it isn't really for the children ;D

Welcome 123grams,
you'll certainly find a lot of Steck fans here, keep visiting those yard sales, there are bargains to be had when you compare to come prices being extorted asked on eBay.
cheers, Martin

Greetings 123grams,
Hope you are finding this site as interesting as I am. I have to agree with Martin that yard sales are the best bet for deals. Good luck hunting!

Exactly the same thing happened to me a few years ago. It's very easy to become obsessed with these wonderful toys. 8-)

When you buy one set then you just keep buying and buying, and there starts growing your collection.

Yes, that's exactly what happened to me! When I first started, I thought I could restrict myself to the Roman theme, but I couldn't resist buying other themes. 8}
-
When I think about it that is basically what happened to me... ;D
I can't beleive that they are discontinuing the Roman theme.
So many people liked it. When you hear stories of people getting back into Playmobil they usually have something to do with, "Well I saw the Romans and..." ;)
And there are tons of Romans that have flown off the shelves, all because it was a great theme!
So why in the world would they quit with it? ???

Hello from Greece 123grams,
That excuse worked for the first six months for my wife. After the six months she is trying to book a visit to the local shrink for me!The meeting of last weekend with two other members in Athens has changed her opinion. Now she believes that it is a contagious virus.Hopefully she feels that has amune to it.By the way my 3 years old son loves playmo and in a week or two another baby son will come home as a future playmo patient.
Welcome to our company!!

Welcome aboard. I two children myself and use the same excuses all the time. Collecting this stuff is very addicting. I refer to it as crackmobil sometimes. Lol

welcome from san francisco. i too started collecting for my children, who are now 30 and 33, but i could not justify spending money on too many sets. now that our children are grown, and i am no longer sending all of my paycheck to their colleges, i used the excuse of buying the sets that they had always wanted when they were younger. of course, my family was quick to point out that my collection quickly grew to include the sets i wanted. so now there is no excuse. and my family and friends help me find things i am looking for, and understand the need to go to toy stores whenever we travel.

Hello
Welcome to the group from Sonoma County California. I used that same reason for buying Playmobil but unfortunately my wife knows that I am the biggest kid in the house. The only excuse I can use now is that I am supporting her homeland ;)
