I've had this set for ages but have been meaning to ask if anyone knows anything about it.
I originally got it on ebay UK - from the UK but I think it may be Estrelle - (if that's the right name, from Argentina?)
I know that the lady hasn't got the correct head dress, it should be plain and I think I may have it somewhere :-[ and some of the knives are in my Playmo utensils and crockery drawer but I wondered if the set was complete otherwise or should it be with anything else?
It is one of my favourite sets and I love the sparkly costumes and board, so would love to know more about it.

The Argentinian sets are by Antex and the Brazilian sets are by TROL (1982-91) and then Estrela (1992-99). However, PC V3 doesn't have a knife thrower set for any of these companies.

I found this on wikipedia ...
"The well-known Playmobil range of toys, marketed at children aged between six and twelve, once included two different sets featuring figures of a knife thrower and assistant. The Knifethrowing circus act set, which was retailed from 1978 until 1982, consisted of a target girl on a rotating "wheel of death" and a knife thrower, both dressed in "wild west" type costumes. The Circus Performers set, released in June 1982 and discontinued in 1987, also contained a similar knife thrower and assistant with a wheel of death target, but their costumes were different and there were three other figures in the set."
and this picture on google...

but I haven't been able to find out any more about these sets - does anyone have any more information or pictures?

Thats the link to the other knife thrower set but not the one you have.
Good luck in your quest!

Thanks for that Gis - so that's the one with the three other figures...
I wondered which that set was. ???

That is a great looking set, Elaine, and I just love their outfits!

Hi Elaine!
I was able to get this set MISB some years ago from Brazil (via ebay) so I can tell you that your items are most likely part of a set that included a circus wagon. The set was originally sealed just with shrink wrap which has totally disintegrated, so your inquiry has given me a perfect excuse to remove the shredded wrapping and take some photos. Sorry the photos are rather dark - still trying to figure out how to get the best conditions for taking box photos. ::)

And a few more . . .

WOW Indianna.
This is really what I like about this forum! Instead of somebody knowing where it came from, somebody actually has the BOXED SET it came from and is able to post some awesome pictures.
Thanks for the great (if slightly dark) pictures Indianna!

Here is some more info about what is included in the box (there are not any printed instructions.)
The wagon contains the inserts for beds, etc., which can be seen in the photo of the top of the box as well as the steps. There is also a table to hold the knives (yellow criss-cross legs and a sparkly blue top, as seen in the photo of the box front.) There is the platform and stand for the lady to lie back on while having stuff thrown at her (as nicely shown in Elaine's photo.) There is a set of 2 stickers (yellow and red stripe with the word "circus") for the front and back of the wagon.
There are 10 loose knives as well as a sprue which contains a knife holding thingie (not sure exactly how it works but I think it lets the guy hold one or more knives by the blade) and one additional knife. There are also 5 pistols on a sprue, a holster, and two rifles (one gray and one dull gold) - maybe the guy shoots at the lady as well as throwing knives at her? :o
The man has a blue sparkly hat, collar and cuffs (your guy seems to be missing the cuffs, Elaine) and the woman has a plain red tie collar and textured circlet (not the crown, as you already noted, Elaine.)
I am attaching a scan of the bag of weapons. :)

Hi, Gis!
It is so rare an occurrence for me to be the first person to report on something that I relish the opportunity! Also, it's good practice for photo taking (though I really do need more practice! :-[ )

Thanks for all the photos Indiana, this is a fantastic review. Like Gis says I just hoped someone would know where the figures came from, I didn't expect photos as well.
I didn't realise that they came with a trailer - something else to look for 8}
Having seen something somewhere about one of the other sets having a 'thingy' to hold the knives I wondered if this should have one. Do you have a code number for that?
I'm wondering if I have his cuffs somewhere - one of the boys is always changing over hair, hats etc. he could have put the cuffs onto another klicky!
Lucky you having the full set :)

Sorry, I don't have a number for it - the set did not have any printed instructions - just the box photos to tell you how stuff should go together. Heather has a photo over on Playmodb which gives some idea of what the "thingy" looks like: 3704 Color Circus (http://playmodb.org/setpics/3704.jpg)

In my own limited experience, that is correct! I have also heard this from other people over the years.

Here is something I forgot to mention before (which can be seen in the scan of the bag of weapons that I posted earlier):
The knife that is on the sprue is not a regular knife like the loos ones in the bag. It has a handle at the tip of the blade so that the klicky can appear to hold the knife by the tip of the blade for throwing. :)
