Title: only 25 items by DS ???
Post by: CountBogro on June 08, 2010, 19:11:20
My sister is trying to complete her collection and made an effort to order all the missing parts. But she got told off with the remark she can't order more then 25 items a time.
Now that will take her months to replace all the missing parts. And the Dutch is taking a firm stance in this.

Has anyone else had the same treatment ???
Seems rather rash to me ... perhaps that's a good point for the collector's club - no such nonsense for collectors ...

Well you are lucky!! We cannot order any sinlge parts in any quantity whatsoever from the Greek division of playmobil... only the sets available in the ds catalogue.

I've tried last year ordering from playmobil UK but they send me back to Playmobil Hellas...the same happened when i tried to order from the German DS!!!!

I think at german DS they have a limit of items they are allowed to take via phone.
You then have to mail or fax copy the whole list. And these days they tend to ask
you why you need e.g. 100 rifles. So you need to explain them that you are a
collector, not a dealer.  8-)

Good point!!! I have never told them I am a collector...but then again i could only get sets in large numbers, not single parts...

I recently called them (PM Benelux) and they told me the same only 25 parts at a time!

The lady in general was not very customer friendly and really put me of for ordering anything for now.

*grumble*

I will call again at some point just hopefully talking to someone who is at least reasonable!

Great idea for the collectors club indeed Count Bogro!

She had done so in her mail - but the response was that a maximum of 25 went for everyone - even kindergartens (or something like that) !!!

I've had far more than 25 items on a UK DS order, although I do try to limit orders now to two sides of my order form as I know that's about the optimum size of order for data processing by the staff at UK DS and it's always good to have friends there.  I email my order form in and it will take 50 items and this time there were 47 on it.  The largest quantity on for a single item was 50.

So had I, Playmofire ... but that was in the past. It seems this has been put on only recently.
And yes, Playmo1989; you can order in different names (or just make multiple orders in your own name) but that means extra shipmentcosts as well ... so ordering small items will become mush more expensive.

bugger ...

I thought they wanted to take the collectors more seriously ...

Or is that just me being rebelious  ;D

@ playmo1989 > read this and you will know everything about bugger. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bugger

Apparently direct service isn't very profitable for the Dutch Playmo branch. Otherwise I cannot see any reason for this silly behaviour.

An alternative source for the word is that it dates from the time of a synod of the early Christian church trying to reconcile differences between its separate parts of, e.g. Orthodox, Coptic, Roman.  Agreement was reached by all apart from the Bulgarian church which refused to agree over a minor point and so the synod failed.  After that, the word Bulgar was used to mean someone who was argued over minor points and eventually came to mean someone who was awkward or obstructive.   It then began to be applied to things which were awkward or caused problems.  The"l" in Bulgar got lost in English pronunciation, as has happened with some other words.  There was no sexual connotation in all this.

Just when you thought Playmobil's DS couldn't get any worse...

Perhaps this is the reason I've been waiting over 2 months for my last US parts order that contained about 20% of what I originally wanted.

I have never bought just parts from DS UK before but I'm sure you can only order a max of 10 of the same item.

I can also understand why Playmobil has become strict with DS orders in mainland Europe to stop people selling the parts on Ebay and other auction sites.
I'm sure we have all seen such auctions selling, swords, guns, knives, bows and lots of other small items being sold at twice the price paid for through DS.

I 'll agree for their intention to minimize the expensive market of ebay in spare parts but they should do first something with the dummy Playmobil Hellas that don't have DS service.

You are right My Lord, as usual.
But still - it is a blow for the true collectors, is it not?

But that's just me ...

PS - As for the "Bugger" -it's uttered quite a few times in each Winnie the Pooh-film. I can't imagine it having ANY sexual meaning and being used by Winnie the Pooh  ;D

You're quite right, Bogro.  Sadly, the British concern with sex means the loss or limitation of another perfectly useful word.  "He's buggering me about!" means "He's being awkward" and has nothing to do with sex.  Similarly, "It's a bugger!" means "It's difficult" or "It's awkward".   And you even have the tautological "He's an awkward bugger!" which presumably means someone who is extremely difficult.

On my latest order there are 50 of 30 09 913 and the order has gone through without any query.  On my previous order in April/May there were 16 of 30 03 9440, and in January there were 12 of 30 05 2940, and again no queries.  If there is a limit, then it has come in since 31st May this year.

I've got the feeling that it isn't so mutch about the total quantity of items, but the number of different items that their fussy about. Because on a previous order I recall them starting to be fussy that way (it was more about the number of lines used in the orderform rather than the total of items).

A)  If they made parts more readily available through Direct Service to the people who need them, and properly publicized that service, there would not be a market on ebay for selling parts.
B)  Selling is selling - if Playmobil is making money selling parts through Direct Service it should make no difference at all what the buyer uses the parts for, whether it is to construct a giant model, complete a collection, or, even, gasp, to sell those parts to gullible people who don't know about Direct Service (or to those unfortunate people who live in countries that do not have Direct Service)
C)  If ebay sellers can make money buying parts at retail prices from Direct Service and then sell them at a profit, Playmobil is missing out on a huge opportunity and should be figuring out how to compete with those ebay sellers rather than punishing legitimate buyers!

And Bogro is using it in this second sense, so when he says, "Bugger" he's meaning something like "Bother!" or "That's a nuisance!"

Great that is cleared up then. Still wonder what Winnie meant by it.

Anyway, I plan to try the Dutch DS in the near future. I´ll report my experiences here.

I think there is also issues with stock availability...I ve heard from the third toy shop owner this month that playmobil does not give them a lot of sets to choose from and make available to their shops...

That and the fact that Playmobil Hellas DS could not send me more than 2 or 3 same sets makes me wander.... is there a problem with their stock? Are they keeping expenses to minimum? Is there something else (due to, dare I write, the economic crisis?)

Well DS is doing something screwy.... :-\
DS USA reformed and now is a totally horible system. >:(
They are asking you to put you creditcard in a regular email and send it to them!
And then when you call them they no longer want to actually have to deal with people so they make you leave a message as opposed to leaving you on hold.
(Which in the end actally got you someone!)
With this system they never get back to you, I called them 3 times and the one time they actually got back to me I was out!
Now they just wont retun my calls, and even durring "buisness hours" they don't pick up! >:(

Is there anyone I can call or email, someone I can talk to to get this fixed???
Richard, maybe you could bring it up in your next meeting. :-\
