Here's a first try:
-
No good - too big and not the photo I was trying to link to!
Another try:
-
Still too big!
-
Nice bus - they have been running these all weekend where we live
I use imageshack because I couldn't decide between the two but Photobucket is probably easier as Imageshack is very fiddly and annoying. Please let me know how you get on :)

I'll keep you informed, Damo. So far photobucket is very fiddly and annoying!
-
Well, I've resized it:
-
Another try:
-
Anyone see any difference?
No, I don't either!
Another try after discovering that APPLY just makes the change but doesn't save it and that the button to save is off the screen at the bottom!
-
I've now made it the smallest possible size:
-
And there's no difference!
I thought it could be time consuming resizing images on my pc and then adding them to posts, but at least I'm familiar with that and get some feedback, e.g. the image that wouldn't load because it was just too big now loads because I've made it smaller, but not with photobucket!
End of experiment.
-
I use photobucket Gordon and don't have a problem with it, however my images are all full size when I post them.
Elaine
-
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, coming back now, the later photos are much smaller than before!!!!!!
Another attempt:
-
Now that's better, it fits the post. Here's another try:
-
Nope, too big.
So here's another:
-
All I do Gordon is upload my photos, save them and then copy and paste the IMG code onto my posts and it works OK every time! :) (I don't have to change the size at all)
Elaine
-
But what size are the photos when you upload them? I reduced mine to 640 x 480 but they are still too big, well some are and some aren't.
-
On Imageshack when it loads the pics from my computer it sizes them automatically to the preset forum size so when the have uploaded I just copy and paste the code in
But what size are the photos when you upload them? I reduced mine to 640 x 480 but they are still too big, well some are and some aren't.
That is the size Imageshack does and mine are all that size and they are fine ???
-
I just upload them as they are when I transfer them from my camera into My Pictures. I'm trying to remember if I had to specify a size when I first started with photobucket, but I don't think so. ???
Elaine
-
On the bulk uploader there is a scale from small to large and it was set on small but the photos aren't fitting into the forum.
I'll try this:
-
And now this:
-
Now this:
-
Now a repeat of an earlier one which was too big:
-
And that one again:
-
Great photo with the tree and sheep Gordon : that size looks OK to me.
Elaine

Elaine
Thank you, Elaine.
Now that one is 160kb and the one of them in front of the glass of orange juice is 145kb!
Well those are the sizes of the photos BEFORE uploading them, but on photobucket they are BIGGER than that!
-
Another try:
-
Now that one fits the page even though it's bigger than some of those that don't!
Another:
-
Nope, too big again!
It looks as if it's going to be more trouble using photobucket than resizing my photos and attaching them to posts. I can never work out why these hosting sites and photo editing software don't all include two basic functions
1. resize an image to a given size, e.g. 100kb
2. print an image to a given size, e.g. 5 x 7
Photoshop Elements 3 used to offer the second but when it was "improved" to Elements 4 this option vanished and Elements 3 can't be used with Vista. So much for "progress".

Photbucket does offer the second option. All my photos resize to 800x600 pixels as I upload them, and I never have to worry about them fitting on the forum.
Go to the page with the big box saying Upload Images and Videos
Just under that box click on (more options)
Choose 15" screen and save.

Thanks, Martin, I'll try that. I've only been using the bulk uploader so far.
-
Perhaps that's what I did when I first started using photobucket, because I think it may have been Martin who directed me to it for uploading photos. ???
I did wonder, but couldn't remember :-[

Here, hopefully, is a final test and then Maisie and Fred will have another two adventures posted in the near future.

-
Well, I set to upload images and videos to a 15 inch screen and it still doesn't work! :(
-
Hmmm, checking the settings I'm sure I'd opted for a 15 inch screen, but the settings said 17, so I've reset it and will try again.

-
Looks as if the resizing can only be done at upload time, so back to square one.
-
Uploaded now at 15 inch screen setting so let's see what happens.
Here's the cab:
Now Maisie and the chocolate sheep:
Finally, the problem one:
-
Hmmmm, still a bit too big, but I'll try the story with them.
-
I love the pictures and the Driver seems such a nice Chap
Karim :)
-
Looking forward to the story Gordon - will that village be in it? it looks familiar ???

Elaine
Village! Village! That's a town!
It's where we go for the day, Elaine. Not a lot of photos of it as it was very crowded and full of traffic that day, but we're going up by the bus again shortly and I'll get some more photos then to show.
-
Those are great pics, Gordon!
I love buses and the one of the village town is great and I can't wait to see the finished piece :)
