Title: Question about steck
Post by: Giorginetto on June 03, 2010, 20:51:28
Well, I am in the process of designing my new medieval  sets  with all my latest additions of 3666s, town houses, trees, klickies etc . I am considering some new steck castle designs and the need for a 4 way connector is more than ever . Has anyomne ever tried to creat one by for example cutting and putting together existing 2 or 3 way connectors ??? any ideas ??? any idead than may involve drilling ?

I have ideas, but havent tried them yet.

If you cut of the two connector parts of a 90 degree connector, and manage to glue them on a T you could make a fourway connector. It need to be nice straight cuts and I havent looks at getting the right glue and stuff yet.

Here's to Theory!

maybe Macgayver has some tips?

Gioerginetto here is the piece that will answer all our prayers....

(http://img38.imagefra.me/img/img38/6/6/3/baldthar/f_grpn4keum_50b079a.jpg) (http://imagefra.me/)

its this one: 30 05 3070 - Wall Connector, 4-way female (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30-05-3070)

and here are a few more pictures...

(http://img40.imagefra.me/img/img40/6/6/3/baldthar/f_grpn4kevm_f2587ba.jpg) (http://imagefra.me/)

(http://img37.imagefra.me/img/img37/6/6/3/baldthar/f_grpn4kewm_5305e3c.jpg) (http://imagefra.me/)

Now, the question is, where do we find this piece in great quantities??? And will it be so usefull as we hope it to be? I can see a big area, just above the four way cross, between the four slots for the toats... that might be tricky...

/me wants!

Thanks for posting WK!

Has anyone tried customizing the 3666 main gate? I hate that the edges are 90 backwards...would like them 90 forward.

What a great idea Gis!!! I think it cannot be done though as the 30 07 6300 - Drawbridge platform (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30-07-6300) is made only to fit the inward construction...

Or you might build a bit more inward and then turn the walls outward again and have the round towers more out than the main gate...

Well how many main gates does a castle/town need. I think the platform could do with a little bit of customization as well!

Just awaiting the castle to arrive before I will have a serious look at it!

Usually a medieval city had two gates Westgate and Eastgate...And they would surely have anything between 4 to 8 smaller gates... again depends on the territory...

/me nods at WK

However Winterhaven (town I am making) is really very small (and has only one gate according to the city map!

OK I promise I will make sure to have 3 fully functional gates before I start customizing *grin*

Well how many main gates does a castle/town need.

I will have in my next design 6 draw bridges and about 6 gates inside .... That 4 piece connector is from a farm set i take it, so it will be very very easy for playmobil to make it in grey steck wall colour and available through DS , in a section perhaps called for ' collectors' or something, i didnt know this part existed !!!! So there is hope.... :)

I have done the thing with the Main gate if we are saying what I think we are saying...
I made the gate indented into the castle walls by one wall section...
Then I put platforms on the walls that were infront of the gate,
I placed archers on the walls and with that they could fire at the enemies backs while they tried storming the gate! ;D

As You can see on my website I builded quite a lot with steck

I hardly ever miss the four way connector

If You play a little with the three way connector you'll see a lot of posibilities

For example : the steck buildings I made for 80 das around the world , I used no four way connectors

Good luck

and most important , have FUN building  ;D
