Post by: flatcat on May 16, 2010, 14:18:25
Thought of a cool castle design so out came the steck today :!:

Here are a couple of overall pics, and I will be giving a tour of each of it's 11 rooms in due course.

A tour of the outside.

The rather modest main entrance, heavily guarded by master swordsmen:

Water can be collected from either of the two wells or natural spring in the castle grounds:

Sir Stratton on horseback:

The main door is always guarded:

Most of the food is grown in the castle grounds...

... and the rest is delivered by ocado ;D

In the prison cell under the main steps, Geoff rattles the bars begging for his freedom:

Hi flatcat,

Very nice! Did you know that in later medieval Italian cities, many noble families did build very tall towers, not unlike yours. They had to build 'up' because there wasn't enough space to build 'out'.

Just one thing: do the king and queen not get along ???? I only ask because of the separate bedrooms...  :P

Cheers, AndrewL

Thanks Andrew

As to the bedroom scenario, I wasn't sure, so I asked my Mum and she said seperate bedrooms so that is what I did.

Cheers,

in a journey i went to austia at the castle when we were in the bedroom area the guide said that when the new couple were trying to make a child the mother-in-law was sleeping together with them in the same bedroom :hmm: :hmm: :hmm:

The Queen is afraid of heights,
But the King wanted to be as close to the Kitchen as possible!

That's a great castle Damo, I did feel sorry for the poor maid having to carry pails of water up all those stairs and I must admit that the knights did deserve a beer having climbed all the way to the top.  (I agree with your mum too  ;D ;D maybe the king snores!)

Thanks for the positive comments everyone!

Again apologies for the rubbishness - I sort if ran out of furniture and filler toasts, and our lounge where I photographed it is very dark which explains the grainy photographs :(

BTW, Does anyone know where I got the names from? ;)

Great work, Damo.  And again great detail such as the knights in the armoury sharpening the sword.  A really enjoyable tour of your castle and a great use of a Sunday afternoon.  The two storey dining hall I thought was a magnificent piece of design and just what you'd expect in a castle for showing off to the guests.  And I didn't notice any problems with the quality of the photos.

Good job Damo! I concur that it was a Sunday well spent, the details I particularly enjoyed were the fellow drawing water, the armory and the dining hall (room), the poster was also clever.

If anyone was wondering where the names came from:

I looked around the study and saw :lens:

- a 'Briggs' and 'Stratton' lawnmower engine manual
- a tourist leaflet for Mount'fitchet' castle in Essex

And so I got the names Briggsfitchet and Sir Stratton ;D

Love the photo of the man drawing water from the pool - Junior's just noticed that the waterfall isn't there - I didn't realise that it could be removed    :hmm: I like the idea of just a pool  :wow:

Yes, both parts of water can be removed with a lot of prising using a thin flat head screwdriver

You used to be able to do it easier then that... :-\
Or am I wrong?
I seem to remember being able to take off the water with some ease when I got a waterfall set...
But I could be wrong... it was some time ago..... :hmm:
