I realised how long it has been since posting my last custom...
and since I have a few lying around the house I will show you one I am particularily proud of. :)
This is my Samurai,
An ancient warrior from Japan. They were extreamly skilled with a sword and bow.
Samurai were Japan's fighting force untill the era of gun powder reached its shores.

Nice Custom WoT!
Did you know there is an actual Katana available from Playmobil? If you put one of these in the belt, and a second cut down for his wakisashi, it'd look even better!
We have hopes that one day Playmobil may produce a feudal era Japanese theme, especially as they already have many of the necessary parts.

Yes, nice custom!
I didn't know there is a katana available! I would like to see a feudal Japanese theme. Then we can do the great classic movie "the Seven Samurai!"
-
Excellent custom, WoT :wow:! Have you considered using any of the PM Japanese figures head in place of the normal klicky head ????
-
Nice work, WoT!
-
Fantastic WoT!!! I love the way you inverted the visor on the hlemet to make it like a kabuto helmet!!!
-
In answer to a few of your questions...
I don't have any Kantana, but as soon as I do I will update him!
Nor do I have any Chinese/Japanese/Mongol heads, and again if I get one I will update him.
Martin, I actually have a pretty good idea for his wakisashi. :!:
Since it is shorter I can use my dremmel to cut a Playmo Kantana down a bit...
Then I can use one of the pirate "slings" that carries a sword and put the wakisashi in it.
(The sling is a little far down, but since the wakisashi sits a little farther down then the Kantana I think it will work ok.)
Thanks all for your great comments!
I really appreciate them, as they are what keep me going.

Hi WoT,
Very nice samurai. I agree with everyone's comments -- well done. And a Playmobil 'Asian' theme would be quite interesting...
I have a couple of katana (in gold) and quite a few Asian/Mongol heads for which I currently have no need. Maybe we could do a trade? Send me a PM if you'd be interested.
Cheers,
AndrewL

Thanks for the compliments and the offer Andrew!
I am hoping to build a Samurai/Japanese army one day,
As I am very intrested in the history and culture of Japan.
-

Hope you like them. :)

WOW WOW WOW !!!!
I really like the one with the egyprian armor and the roman sleeves :)9!!! Great combination!!!!Bravo WoT!!!!
I also like the first one with the bracers and shoulder pads!!!! nice touch!!!! I've done it quite a lot with my coustoms!!!
-
Very clever customs WoT! I like how you have achieved the 'look' with original parts.
-
The Chinese/Japanese eyes are ... characteristic, for playmo logic, but not necessary, all right ... It might only make more sense for us, who are used to it. (I gather you either don't think them necessary for any reason, or you don't have them available in your collection ...)
The only thing I really miss (appart from that) is the Japanese sword (katana) in the the customs ... It's add one more bit of Japanese mood to them ...
Even not using any of them, your customs are really efficient, and good fun.
Thanks for sharing! :)
-
Thanks everyone!
My Samurai customs do not have the face, or swords because I dont yet own any,
However I am making a few trades and hope to give all my Samurai proper faces and kantanas before long. :)
Wolf Knight, I got the egyptian armor idea from Specialist over at Garden Wargaming...
I hope he doesnt mind... :-[
Gepetto, I too like using only playmo parts.
I like keeping the playmobil vibe while making my customs.

Adding to my growing Samurai force...
A Japanese soldier!
Another scene, and then some close ups:

I like your mixing up of different parts from different themes WoT!!! They give different appeal to you klickies!!! Like being multicultural!!!!
-
When I start the cloning process... ;D
They will be VERY multicultural.
I will have body from Knights, shoulder armor from Spainards,
Neck armor from Dragon Knights, and legs from pirates! 8}
Really the mix up of parts is
Me trying to put together something that matches a picture in my Samurai book...
(Actually it is a really good book, with lots of pictures on every page. (I loved picture books as a kid,
now I love picture books as a historian... ))
Hopefully my Samurai army will not be too "cloned"...
I will try to switch around a few parts here and there, but I like lots of order to my army.
I like giving them a sort of uniform.

Excellent custom Wot! :wow: :wow:

That is very nice indeed! Thank you for sharing this with us.

Very good work!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
-
hello WoT!
i didnt know you added so many more to your first one...
so these are your forerunners to the 2011 samurai special ;) (hopefully followed by a massive launch ;D )
...I respect your effort to stay 100% Pm and also that you might be getting katana(s) and 'chinese' eyes,
...but meanwhile, (the others are PM samurais all right!) the soldier with the cone helmet; ...change the cone helmet for either another 'bandana' or even a female pony-tail hair and dont use the egyptian shield (I know there's a tendancy to mix up mongols/chinese/japanese but they are really very distinct)
-
Great customs, WoT!
-
Really nice customs WoT!!! ;)
Specially the first one!
-
Thanks Cheng, Gordon, and Tonguello. :)
I have added Asian heads to my Samurai since I last posted in this thread,
But I wasn't going to post the pictures...
I also taken apart several of these figures, I think I only have 1 Samurai now. :-[
But I will be using the PM Samurai next year to make a HUGE army! ;D ;D ;D
Cheng, your reminding me that Samurai used lamellar instead of plate armor (early Samurai at least)
Gave way to a new idea. :)
I will show you all my newest Samurai soon.
-
Here he is, My new Samurai. :)
He is made to kook a little more like the Playmobil Samurai,
With his Lamellar armor. (Also more period)
He will be the General for my Samurai army. ;D
(http://a.imageshack.us/img651/6122/001tci.jpg)
I hope you like him.

Thanks Sir Wolf. :)
-
He certainly looks the part, WoT!
-
LOVE it! This one is the best so far! :o
-
Thanks Sir Wolf. :)
How do you think it would look if you'd changed the armour with this one? 30 00 5442 - Egyptian soldier, short hair, dark brown collar (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30-00-5442)
-
that's one it already has, isn't it? ???
-

Nope the one he has is this one 30 00 5432 - Egyptian soldier, long hair, dark brown collar (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30-00-5432)
Its not clear in the picture but 8 scales are green, not blue!
-
oooh ok! you're right
-
Thanks Gordon and Tongello. :)

You like the Blue better? ???
I kinda like the Green. I think it goes better with the brown on the rest of him. :)
-
I like it in green. You could make a blue one to and he would be captain of a diferent troop...or something.
Q: is the movable part of the helmet upside down? why?
-

The upside down style of the visor makes tha helmet look like a kabutops helmet...(cant find a pic...the damn pokemon is keep coming up on googld search!
I kinda have connected these legs with blue...green is better with the brown indeed
---edit----
Better luck with ''samurai helmet'' search...

Yes, Sir Wolf explains this excellently. :)
And a picture is worth 1000 words. ;)
The visor is indeed flipped to look like the horns on the Helmet.

ooh cool!!
Great idea Wolf!! :rainbow:

I am not sure whose idea it was first,
But I know I got the idea from Ralf (http://gardenwargaming.playclicks.com/forum/index.php?topic=1106.0).
