Hi all,
I visited the local charity shop in town at the weekend, and stumbled upon this kids story jigsaw book (as you do :toot:) and found it's contents rather interesting so I thought I'd share it with you.
I'll go through each page so you can see what I mean :camera:
Here is the front cover:

Thanks to Staedtler for the modeling clay, and Bruder for supplying the vehicles!
No thanks to Playmobil then :eh?:
There is tractors and trains in the series also, and I wonder if they have any Playmobil in them as well ???
-
Great book Damo!! very perceptive of you to see the vehicle in this page...but i think they are not playmobil...just toys that were based on the same design...i've seen them before but i cannot remember how they are called??? Any ideas people???

I've had a book like this, again dealing with emergency vehicles and with a mix of Bruder and Playmobil and no acknowledgement to Playmobil. I've actually just wrapped it up for my great nephew's birthday. The Playmobil pictures are attached.
There are a number of similar books in a local newsagent's which I'll have a look at to answer your question about lorries and tractors. (I think I've looked already and it's the same situation, but I'll check again.)
Strangely enough, although the fire engine uses Bruder parts, they have never made one like this. They have produced turntable ladders and a fire brigade crane on MAN and Volvo chassis, a Unimog GW unit and, more recently a Sprinter with a turntable ladder, but not the one shown in your book, the book I had and in another Usborne book.
They have another book which features the fire engine in more detail.
-
Of course...Bruder...

I thought I wasn't sure about the fire engine, but it does have the same wheels as my Bruder wheeled excavator. I rather like Bruder vehicles, and have a collection of their construction vehicles but they take up even more room then Playmobil does! :o
The ambulance in your top pic looks strange, Gordon. It looks as if the 'ambulance' logo has been added afterwards (photoshoped you could say) because it doesn't look level and in line with the rest of the vehicle :-\

Just noticed something wierd - there should be a door this side :hmm:

The fire engine is certainly built around Bruder parts, not only the wheels but the ladder, too, and the front and some small parts.
Jo Litchfield is a prolific modelmaker and book illustrator and her books have been translated in foreign languages.
Here's another familiar shape:

Maybe no credits are given to Playmobil because while Bruder provides the trucks etc free Playmobil has to be bought in the local toyshop.
I think you're right about the ambulance, Damo; I hadn't noticed that before.

Wow, that's a cool looking book :)
