Title: Another Battle with Medieval Playmobil
Post by: AndrewL on April 26, 2010, 18:36:51
Hi All,

At the risk of being (rightly) accused of shameless self-promotion :toot:, I thought I'd note that I've put some pictures of another battle I've fought with my medieval Klicky armies over on the Garden Wargaming forum, here:

http://gardenwargaming.playclicks.com/forum/index.php?topic=1395.0

The 'story' isn't quite finished yet, but it will be soon.

Cheers,

AndrewL

Hi All,

Many thanks for your appreciative replies -- glad to know you like it.

And BTW, the 'story' is now complete. I got a bit carried away, so the whole thread on G-W is, um, a bit on the loooooong side.

Cheers,

AndrewL

Thank you AndrewL for a great battle, excellent photos and interesting narrative!   I really like the varied troop personalities and the color they bring to the field, do you know about how many klickies were involved? At any rate this was very enjoyable and I thank you for taking the time to share it with us.

This battle is even more massive than Andrew's previous battle! :)

Loved your epic battle...very well done!
Oddly, I really liked the pictures toward the beginning with the sunflowers and the battle progressing behind them.  I thought that really captured the essence of the battle happening on the quiet, pastoral countryside.
The storyline was aslo well-done.  Your asides made me giggle, like telling us about the fraternal twin brothers and their beard colors.  LOL...loved it!

Hi Gepetto,

Many thanks for your comments, and sorry not to have replied sooner.

Troop numbers: to start, Duke Waltheof had 212 men, his opponents 196. Obviously Waltheof had a lot fewer men when his army left the field! There were about 25-30 more men on each side than in the first battle I posted over on G-W.

Cheers,

AndrewL

Hi UnaSigne,

Many, many thanks -- much appreciated.

I tried to make the whole thing as realistic as I could (within reason!), hence the farm with garden and some livestock.

I put the explanation and asides in partly for amusement, and partly to give the whole thing a further air of verisimilitude. I felt I needed some sort of believable back story, to explain what was going on. And things like the elder of fraternal twin brothers inheriting an aristocratic title did happen!

Cheers,

AndrewL
