Title: PCIAFD takes delivery of its first Super Heavy Duty Rescue Unit 27.
Post by: Bill Blackhurst on April 06, 2010, 23:54:19
After receiving a package containing items from an eBay parts transaction, delivered by USPS, I was finally able to complete one of the two custom 3526 Super Heavy Duty Rescue unit projects known as Rescue Unit 27. While this unit has been finally delivered to Playmobil City International Airport Fire Department to be put in active service, its twin sister Unit 26 remains incomplete due to parts unavailability, & budget restrictions rendering it severely behind in its delivery schedule. These two units are designed to be laden with extremely heavy rescue equipment & tools. They also have an on board PTO driven compressor & hydraulic pump to operate the assigned hydraulic & air powered equipment controlled by panels on the left & right compartment bed. There is an array of rescue equipment to tackle any situation these unique rescue trucks maybe dispatched to conquer in the way of aircraft crashes. Hopefully Unit 26 will be completed for its debut in the near future. An update regarding these rescue vehicles. FYI, with their 6 person crew & full load of equipment on board, they weigh in @ 3 pounds each :o!

I hope you enjoy this latest custom assigned to the Playmobil City International Airport Fire Department.

Wow, your rescue unit is awesome! I see you have custom equipment to tackle any type of rescue, although I hope they are all waterproof incase it rains ;D Do you respray your engines because they look ever so shiney and new 8-)

Bill, what does the white symbol with the four people on it mean as I keep seeing it around but I don't know what it means ???

Thank you for your positive feedback, flatcat! To answer your questions; I don't paint vehicles like this. The first thing I do is totally disassemble each one when I receive them, & thoroughly wash & clean them. Next, I wet sand any scratches or defects found on the entire body & chassis. Lastly, I buff the entire vehicle with a high speed buffing wheel to remove any sanding marks & to make each look as new. The results are as you see in all of my collection.

The white decal is an early fire department symbol that came on the decal sheet that was used for both the 3525 ladder truck & 3526 fire engines. There were 2 large ones for the fire trucks & 5 small ones to be placed on the firefighter figures chest. The symbols show a firefighter holding a cable & hook for a lifting rescue, another carrying a stretcher, another paddling a raft in swift currents, & lastly, one with a hose shown battling a fire.
Thank you for your interest & questions! I truly appreciate them & hope I have answered your questions adequately!

I hope you give your car as much love and attention as you do your fire engines! ;)

Thank very much Wolf Knight for the positive review!

To answer your questions to the best of my ability, the telelights are to be permanent fixtures on all of these trucks. When they are not extended they retract within the body of the fire truck until needed in the future. If the parts are not available to build a particular telelight design, whether it is a factory original or custom, I hand produce each individual part from various plastic parts & bulk plastic.

Yes its nice to create something that you need but you do not have!!! I guess extensive knowledge of all kinds of plastic, not only playmobil accessories, and handicraft methods give you the results that you need!!!

I need a lot of time thinking what exactly I need to produce and how to produce it, but I lack the skills to make it so...eventually it takes even more time to create....

I hand made the large telelight for this Rescue Truck due to the upper tie bar & second section pole missing. To make it as close to the missing original as possible without making a mold, I was required to cut, grind, sand, test fit the assembly, & including the final painting process it took 3 days for a total of 18 hours.

Once again proving that if you want to do something that good you need to invest a lot of time, effort, skills and patience!!

You are so right, Wolf Knight  ;)! But just remember that doing that type of a job is like peeing in a dark pair of pants, it gives you a warm feeling, but nobody else notices !

Thank you for the positive compliment, Tim! Your experienced opinion is always appreciated! To answer your question, I'm needing to complete 3 additional 3526 fire engine customs & do introductions on them first. These projects are taking a lot of time so the big feature showing the entire PCIAFD at work may be a little down the road. I wished you lived closer so you could give assistance! I feel overwhelmed lately at all of the PM projects staring me in the face   :omg:!

I forgot to address your statement about being waterproof flatcat! All Playmobil fire apparatus with equipment stored outside of storage compartments are protected by an on demand force field similar to the one used by the Star Trek Enterprise for protection ;), which is quite effective by the way !

Another incredible piece of equipment Bill! The truck certainly lives up to its name and all the specialized gear you have on board really carries it home. A vehicle like this would go out to assist other appliances in retrieval and extrication only or does it have a more general function?

Thank you for the compliments, Gepetto! Back in the day when I was an active firefighter/rescue technician/EMT, most rescue units were designed & equipped as rescue only, with engine companies always responding to preform all fire suppression duties. When a rescue unit is designed solely for rescue duties, it's able to haul more weight in rescue equipment & more of an array of equipment types. These trucks are outfitted primarily for any rescue type situation & for rescue procedures required on fire scenes or sometimes on standby in case their highly versatile rescue equipment is needed.

A call maybe heard saying this over a department dispatch channel. Alert tones:.......Station 2, Engines 121, 122, SUV1281, ST12A, Heavy Rescue 127, EMS Company 1 & 2, respond to Playmobil City Great Lakes Road for Signal 6A with possible multiple entrapment's. All companies alerted 23:15 hundred hours.......

Responding Engines 121, 122, SUV1281, ST12A, Heavy Rescue 127, Medic 11, Medic 12, Medic 21, Air Medevac 1, to Playmobil City Great Lakes Road, 21:18 hundred hours.

HQ to all units responding to this incident, be advised there has been multiple call ins verifying severe vehicular damage with multiple patient entrapment. 21:21 hundred hours.

HQ to Engines 121, 122, & all responding units: Recent calls also describe a possible vehicular fire involving one vehicle. Units updated 21:22 hundred hours.
