P&M have set up a yard area in the car park of the nearest station:

(http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/331/200908180004.jpg) (http://img411.imageshack.us/i/200908180004.jpg/)

The station is still operational and people wait for the morning train:

(http://img696.imageshack.us/img696/991/200908180005.jpg) (http://img696.imageshack.us/i/200908180005.jpg/)

Unfortunately work around the existing train line has to temporarily stop when trucks need to use the access road:

This is really exciting, Damo!

Are we going to get to see all the construction? And, your train in operation?

A H&D technician sets up a new signal ready for operation:

(http://img85.imageshack.us/img85/9200/200908180008.jpg) (http://img85.imageshack.us/i/200908180008.jpg/)

A new signal box is being built by the points, where currently trains have to be sent left until the new line is completed:

(http://img580.imageshack.us/img580/2261/200908180009.jpg) (http://img580.imageshack.us/i/200908180009.jpg/)

There is a regular supply of train track which is bought along the access road to wherever it is needed:

(http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/3805/200908180012.jpg) (http://img64.imageshack.us/i/200908180012.jpg/)

Meanwhile, just up ahead a truck is being unloaded of track sections and carefully lowered into position:

Just down from the crane is a digger clearing away any loose material that has settled on the ground, ready to recieve the track:

(http://img541.imageshack.us/img541/9571/200908180016.jpg) (http://img541.imageshack.us/i/200908180016.jpg/)

There are skips placed all along the work site which have to be emptied regularly:

(http://img541.imageshack.us/img541/6154/200908180018.jpg) (http://img541.imageshack.us/i/200908180018.jpg/)

My avatar gets a ride with the P&M site manager in his pick up:

(http://img687.imageshack.us/img687/9360/200908180002.jpg) (http://img687.imageshack.us/i/200908180002.jpg/)

The 3 Blocks site office is situated half way along the site:

(http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/3866/200908180021.jpg) (http://img88.imageshack.us/i/200908180021.jpg/)

Just outside, workers are unloading sand down to the work site from the access road for use in the track laying:

(http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/9904/200908180022.jpg) (http://img88.imageshack.us/i/200908180022.jpg/)

Cutting overhanging branches:

Loose material is held back by heavy steel fences:

(http://img576.imageshack.us/img576/9021/200908180026.jpg) (http://img576.imageshack.us/i/200908180026.jpg/)

I wonder what the digger operator is doing :D

(http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/9583/200908180027.jpg) (http://img411.imageshack.us/i/200908180027.jpg/)

Forklift trucks are needed to move construction supplies and equipment up and down the site:

(http://img130.imageshack.us/img130/7597/200908180028.jpg) (http://img130.imageshack.us/i/200908180028.jpg/)

At the very end of the site a tunnel is being dug:

(http://img576.imageshack.us/img576/8760/200908180032.jpg) (http://img576.imageshack.us/i/200908180032.jpg/)

(http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/4374/200908180033.jpg) (http://img64.imageshack.us/i/200908180033.jpg/)

Excavation material is taken away by truck:

(http://img130.imageshack.us/img130/3540/200908180031.jpg) (http://img130.imageshack.us/i/200908180031.jpg/)

The fire brigade are always close by:

(http://img576.imageshack.us/img576/9112/200908180034.jpg) (http://img576.imageshack.us/i/200908180034.jpg/)

I hope you enjoyed it :)

I'm afraid that it won't actually work as the ground is too uneven and there is a horrible bend in the flowerbed! :-[

Hmmm ...  :hmm:

If it were my railroad, Damo ...

And, I had all that great construction equipment that you've assembled on-site ...
My vote would be to go straight through the flower bed! ... (http://www.gardenwargamer.com/images/lolsign.gif) ... (http://www.gardenwargamer.com/images/breakmeup.gif)

(Then think of something really, really clever to tell my wife.) ...

Just realised I put the pantographs on the wrong way round :-[ I already got it all out again to take some pics and then packed it away and realised that I had forgotten them completely so I had to get it all out a third time to take these which I still got wrong ::)

Not to worry, Damo!

Since there are no overhead catenary wires on this section of your railroad, they're running on diesel ...  ;)

Yes - diesel ;)

Do I need to construct some overhead catenary wires now? ;D

You have a great talent both for a good story but also excellent photos to tell it.  I really like the detail you include, often small points such as the metal sections to help spread the load of the crane outriggers.  (I do, however, have some reservations about health and safety issues in the trimming of the overhanging branches!)  Truly an excellent presentation, Damo.

It's a great collection you have, too.  The scaffolding planks look interesting - I guess very early Playmobil.  Am I right?

And I know just how you feel about finding a problem with a photo after you've packed everything away!   ;D

You are correct Gordon, they are very old

There is a great Playmospace picture using this scaffolding and I would be grateful if anyone can find it :)

Seems like your digger operator couldn't make it to the loo flatcat  :o! You may want to relocate one of those port a loo's closer to the far out workers just in case a number 2 situation hits  :toot:!

Sadly there has been no progress on the tunnel yet, as I have been way too busy, and I still have another story to finish. But maybe one day ;)
