...to ask what was going to happen to the fire brigade display material which had disappeared from the window in the last few days. The assistant (maybe the manageress, actually) said it depended, so I explained that I was wanting to offer the large cardboard klicky fireman a good home. I was passed on to Hazel, the owner of the shop who I know and she asked what parts I wanted from the display. I explained it was really just the fireman cutout, but she said I could have anything, whether the display material or the Playmobil vehicles (a 4820, a 4821 and a 4822, the last not even out of its box). I decided not to be greedy and asked for the 4821 and the fireman cutout. The 4821 is lacking most of the smaller parts, although they are somewhere in the shop if I want them, but I have most if not all of them spare from DS. I will call in tomorrow to ask for the box for the 4821 to keep it in (I forgot to ask for this I was so overwhelmed by Hazel's kindness) and I imagine some of the smaller bits will be in there. Even if they aren't, I have a 4821 with the hose reels and storage trays, plus a female firefighter whcih was standing on top of it, and the display figure for free. :)
There are pics below of my "haul".

Oh Gordon this is really great  !!! It is almost like having a life size klicky (which i am sure you have) at home!!!
I have to keep my eyes open for such displays too.... I wander if I could get that rock castle display with lots of extras from my local toy store, they took it down a couple of months ago....hmmm...
-
WOW :o! You are very lucky to have obtained such a great prize, Gordon! Those type of opportunities where I am are not available due to owners keeping the displays for their own children or grandchildren, so I will be required to purchase them :hissyfit:!

:o :o :o You jammy devil ;D
I am very jealous!
When my local toyshop was closing down I went in and asked about similar display material and got sent packing told that they 'had to be sent back to Playmobil' >:(
But then I suppose that's chain stores for you ::)
Does Diane approve of your latest haul, or does she not know yet :P

Gordon, you must have established a wonderful relationship with Hazel over the years.
I really admire your restraint.
Under similar circumstances, I wonder if I might have been just a bit "greedy" ...
Happy that you made such a nice "haul" ... :wow:
All the best,
Richard

No life size klicky, I'm afraid. My wife draws the line at that! :(

When Hazel said I could have the Playmobil vehicles if I wwanted, I said that I thought she'd be wanting them for her son, but apparently not.

Sorry about that.... :(

Congratulations Gordon! :wow: I knew a fellow who kept a full sized mannequin in his apartment and moved it around occasionally for security so his apartment always seemed occupied.
-
Excellent free haul! What a nice shop owner to give it away for free.

I asked this morning in the local toy store about the rock castle diorama...It seems that playmobil sends people setting up the thing and then they come back, dismantling it, setting up a new theme, and take it away with them !?!?!?!?!?!? >:(
Very strange....

Hmmm ... Believe it or not, the attached picture is a life sized mannequin!
Wonder if the full sized mannequin, owned by the fellow you knew, looked at all like the one in the attachment, Gepetto? ...

A company in California makes these mannequins.
One was used in the film, "Lars and the Real Girl" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0805564/)!
(Won an Oscar for "Best Screenplay" in 20O8!)
Edit: Added won Academy Award Oscar 2008.
