Hey, interesting... Well, they have reasonable prices with them.
But do they really sell german promotional material?
It almost looks like they do... ???

I have just seen the auction tonight and dashed over here to post my not so new discovery.
The strange thing about the sales is that they don't accept paypal, I thought you had to accept paypal these days to sell anything ?

That is strange, especially after looking @ the top of the listing under types of payments accepted, & Pay Pal is the first type of payment listed :hmm:? Ebay.de sellers very rarely accept Pay Pal! Most German sellers accept bank transfer as a preferred payment!

I was told today that they were going on ebay.
I ckeck with them in the morning about PayPal and post the answere when I get it.
I understand there possible may be more?
-
Interesting; maybe something in the fire brigade line will turn up sooner or later.
-
These are very good value if it's genuine, and I can't see how it can't be if you send your cheque to their offices. You get a bunch of pre-built models, and it's a buy-it-now auction, so no bidding war.
I'd be very tempted if I still lived in the UK.
-
I've heard that they glue the parts together on the display models - is this true ???

They do glue figures and vehicles in place on the displays but I'm not sure if they glue all the parts together on the models.

Hi everyone,
well I love the pirate theme and as I havent got the new ship I've gone mad and bought the display from ebay, but now I've heard it's glued together I'm kinda worried. :-\
When the auction finished there was no checkout set up for paying by cheque, it did give the option to pay by paypal but as it said in the listing no paypal payments accepted I ended up emailing the seller. The good news is I got an automated response last night and a real email today and they are from Playmobil uk. So I'll post off a cheque and when every thing comes I'll take pictures for every one.
Now my problem is where am I going to put it? ???

Even if the sets are a bit gluey, it is an excellent way to get a whole theme at an excellent price :)9
-
Just noticed that they have been very naughty in the listings by showing all the sets for a theme in the pic and saying its the theme, but in the text you only get the 3 main sets which make up the display, but I suppose if you only want the 3 sets then that is still a bargain even if they have glue on them :)

They use epoxy two-part glue and this is fairly easy to remove without damaging the models.
-
I wish playmobil hellas would do the same. There are lots of display sets that end up in the trash from various toy stores all around greece. or they are being kept by the toy shop employers for their children to play and then be trown away.
question: is this glue silicon based?
-
Had a replay from Playmobil U.K. Payment is by cheque or postal order only.
In the past they used a hot glue gun to fix the items together the same way as I do for the layout.
If it is like mine you can pull apart most of the items and clean them up.
-
Just looked at their sellers page as I was thinking of making a purchase, and found that they have suddenly got no items for sale anymore, and by looking they haven't got any feedback even though they have sold loads of sets :hmm:
This all seems a bit suspicious what with the cheque only business as well. They had at least 5 of each theme left yesterday, and now have none (unless someone has bought them all!)
I would love to know how you get on Emma, as I would have bought one as well this morning if there were any left to buy.

Got this message from ebay this morning saying that the auctions have been removed, message is longer I've just copied the first bit but goes on to say about what to do if I'd already paid
180484968804 - PLAYMOBIL PIRATE DISPLAY MATERIAL (NEW)
'was removed from eBay for breaching of one or more of our listing policies. Any offers or bids that you placed on this listing are now null and void; you don't have to complete this transaction.
This listing was removed because it was listed incorrectly; therefore, the seller is free to re-list the item in the correct format. If you want to, feel free to bid on the item again if it's re-listed.'
Could it be because they did not have Paypal as a payment option?
-
Hi I got the same message.
I'm going to ring playmobil just to make sure they don't re-list mine. Like Duckman I think it's because they wont accept paypal.
-
Hi
I've just spoken to Playmobil, their listing were removed by ebay for not having paypal. If you just post off a cheque with a description of the item they will still send it out. The lady I talked to said it was a lot of hassle as they didnt want to set up paypal as they only had a few of these items to sell. So it looks like this may be the only lot of displays they offer - mores the pity!

Even companies have to follow eBay protocol if they want to benefit from the Global marketplace eBay has created.
I hope they set up a Paypal account and relist the unsold sets.

True , however as i pretty much buy most of my playmo on ebay , big playmo ebay sellers like librejoggen and hilten do accept paypal and they have so so many playlo parts and goodies . combining shipping for combined orders is a good way to buy lots of sets and parts at a discounted price on ebay .

libreloggen will not sell to anyone outside of the European union no matter what! They accept Pay Pal, but only for that market area! I have inquired many times offering to pay what ever cost they needed me to pay for certain items, but was told no each time! I don't understand why it is such a problem, because I do business with several other German sellers that charge very fair shipping rates & are great to work with!

Maybe they are not comfortable with currency conversion?
-
It would be a real shame if they don't try and sell again on Ebay.
I wonder why they didn't try and sell them on the official Playmobil UK website first as a special offer?
-

That would be strange, after all it is much more convenient to change currency types through Pay Pal.

Indeed, though Paypal will take a lergar fee than using other conversion methods. Hoevere that's ther buyer's problem, not the seller's.
More likely they don't want to deal with all the hassle of posting the sets to a foreign country. When I was selling stuff (not Playmobil) on eBay last Summer, I'd frequently get enquiries of the sort "How much to post this item to Latvia", and I'd spend half an hour weighing the item (in packaging), and looking up the postage rate to that country, and then the enquirer wouldn't even bid.
Sadly postage services around the world is getting more expensive, and at the same time less effective. We may soon have no Saturday deliveries in the USA. :(

You don't say! The Greek post office does not work on Saturdays. The postman never delivers a package! Instead he brings a small piece of paper that says ''your item has arrived but you'll have to come and pick it up tomorrow'' (for ridiculous bureaucratic reasons) and then again you have to wait in the line for something that you have already paid to be brought to you....and if the package is USPS there is a 3 euro customs fee (because they went through a lot of trouble just processing the package)!!!
VERY VERY VERY frustrating!!!
It was much simpler when I was studying in the UK. The Royal Mail red van would always bring the package to my door and the postman would say ''you must be very popular, lots of people sending you presents and all''...

A large box has arrived by post marked Playmobil Display, inside the box was the contents of the Water Display. It consisted flat packed the shop display stand and boxes 4461, 4462, 4463, 4464, 4465, 4466, 4467, and 4468 all marked with a orange sticker with Decoration on it in black.
The following items were also in the box partly assembled, but no glue had been used so that they could be taken apart. 4462 Penguins, 4463 Alligator Basin, 4464 Zookeeper Caddy, 4467 Zoo Visitors and 4468 Dolphin Basin.
All the assemble instruction sheets and the instruction sheet for the shop display were included.
Defiantly value for money, I will now have to start gluing them together to fit on my Playmobil layout.

Congratulations on a good buy, Walter.
When is your next train show, please? We weren't able to get to Lincoln because of other commitments.

Help
Ok I'm an idiot!!! I've just realised I forgot all about sending off my cheque to Playmobil until I was just looking at the new News threads. Unfortunately ebay was wiped out all the details of the Pirate Display. I've got an email with the other items pictured below but not this one and I can't remember how much it was for I think it was £39 plus shipping - Can any one remember by chance otherwise I shall have to call them tomorrow and feel more of an idiot than I do now!
Thanks Emma :-[ :-[ :-[

Hi Emma,
if it's the pirate display with card background it's £44.00 I'm sure because I paid for mine today, also they will let you pay using a credit/debit card.
However pay soon as they told me they don't think they are going to list again on ebay and although they are still going to continue to sell them they will be more expensive!
Also don't expect delivery quickly as they’ve run out and are waiting for a delivery to come from the warehouse.
