Title: Playmobil City International Airport Fire Department Engines 21, 22 & 23.
Post by: Bill Blackhurst on March 10, 2010, 02:35:05
Hello everyone! The following photo story is the first in a series showing the newly developed Playmobil City International Airport Fire Department which is in the process of taking delivery of a fleet of fire engines, ARFF crash/foam tenders, & rescue trucks that are customs & originals based on the older 3526 fire engine series that were popular in the early 1980’s. The 2 assigned all original 3525 ladder trucks are from the same time era will be shown later. The 3 fire engines shown in this photo story are complete & nearly all original. Engine 23 is in near perfect condition with a rating of 9.0 that came to me with the existing decals in properly placed position & is the level of perfection to which all others are to be refurbished to that standard. Engine 22 is all original except for receiving all new repo decals making it a rating of 8. Engine 21 is completely original except for a couple of repo decals giving it a rating of 8.5. There will be additional photo stories showing the other 7 x 3526 series apparatus as they become complete. There will be 2 custom Foam Tender units, numbers 24 & 25, there will be 2 custom Super Heavy Duty Rescue units numbers 26 & 27 that will be shown after their completion, & there will be 3 additional fire engines numbers 28, 29, & 30 that will be completed using customized components to be shown in the future.

Looks great, Bill! ...

Now the BIG question ... Are, you actually going to have the PCIAFD respond to an airport catastrophe? If so, I wouldn't want to miss it! ...  :)9

Thank you for the positive feedback, Richard! In the future as I complete the 3526 works in progress, I plan on showing an airport catastrophe using 3 airport themes which will require a lot of space to show a severe crash using real foam, etc.   :hmm:!

Even though it may sound a bit "goulish", Bill ... I'm really looking forward to seeing your PCIAFD in action!

If you think that's ghoulish, just turn on the news, Richard  :0! I will warn everyone though, there will be casualties shown in a triage area in the future photo story titled "Crash on runway 1, all PCIAFD units respond!"

Beautiful rigs Bill and as usual artfully displayed and excellently photographed! Do the engines require those outriggers just because of the hose and equipment drawers or is there other equipment that is deployed that requires the stabilizers?

Thank you for the positive reviews everyone ;D!

To answer your question, Gepetto, most dedicated fire engines do not have outriggers/stabilizers for their normal assigned duties! The only time they have this added option is if they are quints, ladder trucks, snorkels, & have a tower function or are equipped with a snozzle to keep them from tipping over. The reason the Playmobil 3526 fire engine had these stabilizers was because it was based on the 3525 ladder trucks chassis's & all parts between 3526 & 3525 fire trucks were interchangeable, although I really like this added 3526 option because it makes it so versatile :yup:.

Thank you Ben! I'm working on so many projects, I hope to be busy for quite awhile! Keep in mind if you decide to refurb your 3526, WHB Rescue Equipment Systems USA is awaiting your call !

Thank you Peter! I have 10 x 3526 fire engines in various stages of refurbish condition! I hope to have them all complete in the next 3 months. They are extremely rare in this country also!
