Title: Help identifying a set and some peices pleeeeease
Post by: lizzie on February 18, 2010, 23:29:16
Hello everyone,

I've recently started to introduce my daughter to the joys of playmobil (she is 4).  On sorting thro some old stuff from my parents loft, I spent and age in trying to put the different sets together.

I have spent hours trawling thro Heather's Playmodb which is an absoloute joy.  However, I cannot find any info on this set that I have found. It must be from the early 70's.  Despite having the name of the set and the number, I cannot trace any info on it at all.

It's the Basic Farm Set and is number 1781 - All the older sets I can find are 3###.  I found set 3297 which was just a tool and accessories set but they were most of the stuff from the set I have ?

The next thing I would appreciate help on identyfing is a female with what appears to be a hessian outfit on.  This looks like it has been made for the figure but I cannot get it off so I am thinking it may have been produced like this ?  The figure underneath is green body with white arms and legs.

Finally, I am unable to trace this helmet and dragon type cloak ?  It fits adult male.

Great forum guys, grateful for any help and hope you can shed some light on these.  I will probably be back, as I have a few "bits n bobs" that I have no clue about what they could be.

The green helmet is from the set 3026

The farm basic set is a playpeople set - "With its own package design and the name ''Playpeople' the British Company Marx-Toys started assembling and distributing the klickies in the United Kingdom at the end of 1975 - five years later Louis Marx and Co. Ltd lost their license because of bankruptcy.  In 1981 Playmobil UK Ltd was founded and continues distribution for the UK market."  (Playmobil Collector p274)

Hope this helps,

Elaine

Hi Lizzie

Just so you know that wooden plank that goes on the Klickies shoulders to hold the buckets is a great part to have. I would consider it rare and hard to find.

The Klicky with the burlap sack on is a custom. Did somebody glue the stuff on and that is why you can not get it off ? I think it looks kind of neat and you should leave her the way she is .

Ras, I have to agree that the yoke for carrying buckets is indeed a great part! The first time that I saw one was when a friend in Denmark (many years ago) sent me one of my all time favorite sets ... set 3487!

I'd say the female figure is someone's custom.  I don't think Playmobil has ever produced a figure with material clothing. I think I can see some green through the lower part of the material and I guess someone has either done a print removal job or a repaint in part and then made the knitted or crocheted dress etc.

Maybe we should start a vote in regards to the female figure being custom! I vote custom designed figure! 3 for custom votes so far.

The female's feet look like bootleg Playmobil - Lizzie check the bottoms and make sure there is a date....  I have gotten many Chinese knock-off figures in my "lots" off eBay....

Hiya - here is another pic of the figure with the outfit turned up slightly - I think she is genuine but maybe someone has just got creative with her - The bizarre thing is, it was mine as a child and neither me nor my mother made the outfit so its a mystery as to how we came to own it !!!

Regarding the farm set - is this rare in itself or is it just the pale carrier that is rare ?

Thanks again guys.

I'd vote for a custom too.
As for the yoke - I've been looking for one for ages - after the merry men's feast that is my favourite set    (apart from the Victorian fence of course!  ;D )

The yoke is useful for scenes round the world right up until Victorian times, but I think the whole farm set is rare because it's so early, anf there were very few adult collectors of Playmobil in the early years.

Regarding the clothed klacky, I wonder if you have any siblings who might have added the dress when you weren't looking?

Now the young lady underneath the knitted dress looks genuine and the original dress can be seen.  I found this young lady on playmoDB who is a match apart from her hair colour:

Alternatively, try "find a klicky" on playmoDB which allows you to specify, for example, wrist type, hair colour.  I've tried this but can't find the search button!

She is just a classic female.

A dime-a-dozen type... In many different sets in the early years.  From what I can tell, the green torso female first appeared in 1976 [the first year for females] she had red/brown hair though.  Your version has moveable hands so she wouldn't have shown up until 1982.   Hair has always been removable so perhaps her black coif came from someone else  :eh?: ???  Klickys are known to do strange things when we aren't looking  :0
