I had my circus set out to
Play with look at, and thought that I would share some pics of it with you
(please excuse the quality as I am no photographer :-[)
It is one of my favourite sets

Hello, Flatcat ...
Your photos look great!
The Red Circus 3553 is a real beauty. And, it's the only circus that I don't have. (At the time, I foolishly told myself that the Blue Circus 3510 was enough circus for me.) ... ::)
Thank you very much for sharing your circus with us!
All the best,
Richard

Lovely set up! Though there are some scary clowns in there... <shiver>
I always thought Circus was an odd theme to choose, in the Uk Circuses are far less popular than Fairs these days. A fairground would offer a huge number of possible stalls and rides to play with.

Hi Flatcat
I love seeing you great pictures of the circus. We go every year to the traveling circus with the boys. You have some great sets to play with look at  I just adore all the Playmobil circus sets and am always looking for more.
Thanks for sharing

Thanks for the photos Flatcat, that is a nice looking set! I wonder if the circuse's (?) in other countries have a red and blue system like Barnum and Bailey does?

Only recently have Playmobil been making less scary clowns than these folk :0
although my favourite has to be the pink one with the gold body - it appears to be clear plastic with gold glitter inside

I agree, Martin!
It's strange that Geobra has not made a Playmobil fairground for their UK and US markets.
(A Playmobil fairground could include theme park rides as well!)
Looks like you've given Zirndorf some good ideas, Martin!
{Let's hope that they're paying attention!)
All the best,
Richard

Certainly all the circuses I have ever seen have a blue and red colour thems, often with a bit of yellow as well.
Do circuses with animals exist anymore? I have only been to one circus before which didn't have any animals - just people acts, where I got called into the ring where I had to lay down in the middle and had some mad BMXer jumping over me :0

Hi Flatcat
I do love those old clown faces. They just look so ? I do not even know a word for it :) I was a bit disappointed that Playmobil did not make any for the newest run.
I too agree that a Fairgrounds Carnival would be so great. A carousel (a real one) booths were you win stuffed animals, large slides , games of all kinds, a shooting gallery, then there are the truly scary people, the carnies :hmm: We need an email petition, or we write to Geobra in crayons ;)

Hi Flatcat
The traveling Circus's that come through our area changes every year. The circus of 09 did have animals, elephants , zebras, camels, weird looking pigs, miniature horses and a slue of other odd things. Now we went and enjoyed our time but let me tell you there was a mob of angry protesters in the parking lot that were quite disturbed. They did not like that there were performing animals of any kind there and wanted to let everyone know that it was uncalled for. The animals certainly looked better off that the confined Zoo quarters. We were photographed for the newspaper as patrons of the circus and a brief interview on why we felt the way we did. as the saying goes "Opinions are like belly buttons, everyone has one"

Couldn't the new Christmas market stalls be customised into such fairground stalls:

nice photos, Flatcat, and thanks for sharing.
That camel truck is interesting as it is obviously the Unimog which has appeared in various forms except that the dropsides and tail board seem higher than the others, for example, those on the construction truck, 3755:

I have the construction varient 3755 as well and it is one of my favourites too. Another difference is that the back of the construction truck tips up, whereas the back of the camel truck doesn't (so makes cleaning out the back that bit harder after the camels have been in there :D)
-
Stupid me - it does tip up

Great idea :!: , Flatcat!
That would be a very inexpensive conversion for Playmobil to do.
-
These I believe are all the Unimog body variants ???
- Low side tipper
- High side tipper
My circus truck should have a flashing light pole but it is missing :(

You and Heather (http://playmodb.org) "almost" agree ... ;)
You seem to each have one that the other does not ... ???
(Did Geobra change the chassis part number?)

Hi Flatcat
Yes that is also what I was thinking. Those stalls will be perfect for such a layout. I plan on incorporating the circus with a carnival as I do not have enough for seperate dioramas. I will load the front trays on the stalls with balls and guns for games and put up targets such as a table with a stack of bottles or similar items. Then change the stickers to simulate a carnival atmosphere and and a really strung out guy for the carinie 8} Although most of our carnivals employees have now become illegal immigrants who rarely speak English :hmm: I hope they understand "STOP he bolts on our ride are falling out!"

The Unimog is a favourite of mine, although NOT the recovery truck version. I have two of the construction version, the tanker and the yellow winter service one. Maybe DS still has the camel truck parts for the rear; I'll try next time I order. It's a long shot, but you never know.

What don't you like about the recovery version ???
I dout whether the camel truck parts would still be available :-\
-
Hi Flatcat, great photos of your circus. :wow: The circus that visits us here is Russian and the acts are amazing.
I have the blue circus but do have the circus truck. It was good to see your photos because I wasn't sure if mine was complete so I can check now.
BTW good idea about the Christmas stall being used for a fairground :wow:

The recovery truck just seems very ugly and unrealistic to me.
I'm sure you're right about the camel truck parts, but I can try for nothing.
There is one other version, the DS circus truck:

I wonder if the sides on this one are the higher type and would fit? I have it from an earlier reissue so I can check.
