Hello
I had to go to the local TRU for a present for our middle son for getting many 100%'s on his spelling tests. While there I checked out the Playmobil and found some new sets. Sorry about the bad picture quality. I am not sure if all of them are new to all of you but they are to the US. They also had the Mer-King and chop shop race car and a few other new sets I forgot the #'s

OOh! I'll have to get myself along to TRU to check it out.
The Princess and Unicorn Carry Case interests me strangely.

Hi Martin
Yes for some strange reason that set and the Mer-King were the sets I was thinking about getting. The cases were priced the same as Target @ $10 and the King @ $8. I looked carefully at the 5889 but then figured I could wait to have the catapult that flings an assortment of rainbow rocks. For some reason TRU had a lot of the older version Fireman cases. I do not know if this is the last one that we were looking for or left over stock?

Hi Rasputin,
Thanks for posting the pics.
I will have to check that out!
Best regards,

Agreed, the colored rocks do nothing for me, and the only thing that interests me in that set is the wolf headdress. They just made available the 4812 wolf knight with the same catapault, so I wonder why this very similar set was released?
This might be useful to Subaru for the wolves. I'll probably get just one if I see this.
-
Thanks Rasputin! I just added 5889 to the DB, and 5892 and 5893 I picked up from klickywelt.de the other day (although these pictures are better!). I wonder if there are other US-only sets in the Wolf Knights theme, and if there will be re-combining of the Mermaid elements in the same way for US-only.
-
I went by on my way home and found these sets, plus another one 5885 (only one left of each if you haven't gotten there yet Martin)

Kind of interesting, it has all 5 harness parts for the seahorses but only 2 of the large ones. One other large one was in the blister pack.
Here is the back of 5889 the one new part is the wolf's-head hood piece in brown. It's never been in brown before.
no instructions in either of these sets, so no part number available for the hood

Hi Tim
I did not get any of these sets so I do not quite understand what you mean by the set having all 5 but only 2 large. On the box picture you show it states X3 for the harness and that might be what is confusing me.

sorry, it has all 5 of the harnesses that fit the large seahorse, but only 2 large seahorses. There is one other large seahorse in the blister pack. The question is - will there be 2 more sets with the other large seahorses?
-
There's a large green seahorse in Blister 5882 and a yellow one in 5883, so that makes 4 seahorses.
I got 2x 5882 because I wanted two helmeted guards for my Mer-King.

Hi Tim
Thanks for the clarification. It was the box image that confused me as it said the set came with X3 harness's 8} I wonder if it is included in the "31 pc" count ?
Thanks again but rest-a-sure it is not how you explained it but rather how I read it

(turns on the picture vacuum... sluurp!)
Here they all are:
PlaymoDB List - Latest from TRU USA (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/your_set_list.pl?setlist=5882,5883,5886,5887,5889,5892,5893,5885;title=Latest%20from%20TRU%20USA)
Now, to suss out some existing parts to add in. (I assume no blisters have instructions? How about the carry-cases?) The missing seahorse is the magenta one that came with the Witch (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30-64-3742), so I bet there's one more blister to find.

Hah, I just spent 20 minutes trying to figure out the same thing and you beat me to it.
I'd like a Mer-Witch blister, she is a very interesting figure and has possibly the greatest story potential (villains are always more interesting!), but we may have reached our quota.
I wasn't going to bother getting the 5884 double blister but now I will, we have quite a community going.
-

No instructions in the blister packs as usual, but the 5892 pink carry case has instructions, which I will scan for you when I can get to my scanner.
We're in chaos here today as we can't find the nuts and bolts to put our bedframe together! Might have to trip over to Lowe's or Jerry's later and see what they can offer.

Thanks, that's good to know. When I can put "Instructions Do Not Exist" on a set, it doesn't clutter up my "Instructions Wanted" list.

No rush, my heavens, take care of your real life first! It will start to feel more like home once you're surrounded by your stuff.

OK, so I cannot resist a challenge like that and I am officially lusting after all these seahorses even though I previously referred to them as "Barbie-esque" or some such epithet. ;D
Heather, I noticed a funny thing in your link: under the heading of "Other parts with description containing 'Seahorse,'" there are 5 different part numbers (30 29 7110, 7120, 7130, 7140, and 7150) each with the same photo (of all five baby seahorses.) What is Playmobil doing with all these different numbers for the same thing? Do the five numbers possibly represent the five colors?
-

Actually we ARE surrounded by our stuff, since 3pm yesterday. The problem is it's all still in boxes and we now have about half the floorspace we used to have in our rental apartment, due to a slight technical error. The only furniture we shipped from London were a pair of bunk beds and one high bed, as we'd bought them new not long ago, and figured we could sleep on two of these for a couple more months until we can move into our new house proper, then put them in the spare bedrooms.
The technical glitch is that we packed all the nuts and bolts somewhere very safe... so safe we can't find them. 8} We're going through every box and bag looking for them today, and if we really have lost them then hopefully Lowe's or Jerry's will have the necessary nuts and bolts. If we can assemble two beds then we'll have more floorspace again, and I will be able to get to the scanner.
-
Great your stuff finally got here Martin.
Anne - yes the seahorses seem to each have their own number, but we don't know which goes to which color.
-
Thank you Ras, Tim, Heather and Martin for helping us to clearly see what else "we can't live without" ... ;D
All the best to all of you,
Richard

5884 has a pink seahorse instead of a magenta one, but it still makes five. That's the lot then, I expect. I think the witch is the only klicky missing, but in exchange the girl in 5882 is new!

Yes, the Mermaids and Wolf Knights were at one time given lists of part numbers on playmobil.de, like 4800 Ghost Pirates (http://www.playmobil.de/on/demandware.store/Sites-DE-Site/de_DE/Product-Spareparts?pid=4800), instead of a fancy Flash pictorial menu like most others. The baby seahorses were all listed as "Seepferdchen", no colour... I guess it's better than no number at all! That's going to be a nuisance to apply to the new group, though, since the five are split up over different sets.
-
Martin, I'm glad you got some of your furniture and hope you can find the bolts!

I saw the Mer-witch today but she was in a small box not a blister.

What store? Set number?
-
The Mer-witch or 'Magical Ocean Queen' set 4816, 4817-'Ocean Prince' and I think the 4818- 'Ocean Princess' were all in small boxes at my local Learning Palace store, I think you have one down by you Martin. Learning Palace has one of the most complete stocks of Playmobil in the area and often has 15-20% coupons out.
I was not paying much attention because I was too busy scooping up all the Arab Warrior and Cossacks they had marked down to $1.99! :woohoo: :woohoo: Also managed to pick up 4 of the old, classic and now discontinued Nativity Advent sets for $17 each (a good day!).

There is one in Eugene! I've never noticed it before but I'll pop along tomorrow morning and take a gander, thanks Gepetto! Always glad to discover another local toystore.

Martin,
Be sure to look for their yellow marked clearance items and to sign up for their mailing list, they will often send you 15-20% off coupons.
PS - Glad your stuff arrived safely!

You didn't know about that? I was sure you had mentioned going there when you were visiting before. They usually have Playmo 20% off during October about the same time as Eugene Toy and Hobby has their Anniversary sale.

These are a few of the merpeople sets, along with 4813, 4814, & 4815, which are now available at playmobilusa.com.

the rest, followed by the illustration of the whole mer-world:

These six are the sets we were talking about over a year ago: Thread from January 2009 (http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=2845.msg32878#msg32878)
It's great that we are actually getting them in the US. It looks like TRU & Target are getting re-packaged versions that can be called "exclusives." ::) Good for us, though, if that makes them more widely available and/or possibly less expensive.
-
I have already seen most of these in the local toy stores, I should have checked the prices, next time! ::)

On playmobilusa.com they are $5.99 each and they all seem to be available for ordering (I was able to put all of them into my virtual shopping cart.) :)

Nope. I knew about both Elephant's Trunk stores, but hadn't been to the Learning Palace. I nipped up there this morning and got a few sets, including 4812, the wolf knight who doesn't get a wolf. He does get two pieces of headwear though, the horned helmet they show on the box front, and a wolf headdress. The latter is only shown on the BOTTOM of the box, as the back illustrates the daft catapult thing.
They only had that one bronze wolf knight set, so I still need to get 4810, probably direct from Playmobil USA when I order some other necessities.
TLP had very reasonable prices, so it's good to add this store to my Playmobil scouting trips.

I bought 4813 [mermaid with baby seahorses], 4814 [mermaid kids], 4817 [merman? guard--aka male mermaid prince guy] and 4818 mermaid queen all in the boxes. They were 5.98 at one of my local independent toy stores and 6.99 at the other. I also bought the king [4815] for 9.98. No mer-witch at either location.
Would it be of interest to anyone for me to scan the boxes and backs? I am happy to do so.

Hi Betsy!
That's a very kind offer, but I don't think you need to go to the trouble - Heather has already logged these items (with pix) at Playmodb (a year ago, when they were released in Germany.) Your information about finding them at your local toy shops is very interesting and useful, though! :)
