A big 'hi' to everyone - I've only just got around to joining the Playmofriends site (something I should have done when it first opened) and then spent a happy hour or two browsing through topics and links. Then I followed the links to links and ended up thinking 'Wow!' as I looked through web sites and read customising contents, oggled your collections and generally drooled. I've been collecting Playmo for a long time but recently got out of the loop (I can see how far out as I look at all the new sites which have sprung up in the last year or so!). It's so nice to find so many other Playmo lovers too and know that the 'where am I going to put the box if I DO buy that set?' followed by 'aw heck! Get it anyways!' syndrome is still going strong in the Playmo community ;D
I'm looking forward to meeting you all and wish you all a Happy New Year full of bargain E-bay finds!

Hi Gyps,
A warm welcome from the Netherlands.
-
Hello, Gyps ...
A BIG welcome from the Caribbean.
Mr. Dawkins (whom I'm sure you'll see around PF) and I are very happy that you're here!
All the best from both of us on the sunny island of St.Thomas in the US Virgin Islands,
Richard

Welcome from North Yorkshire, Gyps.

Welcome from the South of Germany.

Welcome from the North of Germany. ;D

Hi Gyps! :D
Welcome to the forum. :-* You forgot to tell the members about your great website (http://www.castlesauvage.com/). 8-)
I often direct people there, especially when they ask for info on Playpeople sets. :yup:
Hope you have a lot of fun here and find the news area informative. :)
-
Thank you all for the welcomes :D Sylvia, I guess I didn't mention Sauvage as it is badly in need of an update :-[ ... perhaps I should make that my a New Year's resolution? As for posting - I've been reading my way around all the topics and threads and been tempted to add something to just about all of them! So far I've been very controlled (how long will it last?) - even facing such provocation as the cheeky cellar photoshot and 'learn how to speak pirate' (something I've never been able to master!)

Oops! I missed this ... WELCOME Gyps!

Hi there, Gyps! :)
Welcome from the USA. I know you will enjoy it here. I like your avatar, the Snake Lady is one of my favorite figures. 8-)

Hi, welcome from Oregon :)
-
Having followed up the link to the website, I know who you are.
-
Hi Gyps,
I worked out it was you from your username, it's just a bit shorter than before.
It's good to hear from you again.
I still blame you for my obsession for Playpeople, after looking at your site and wanting to find out more about the Littlepeople. ;D
Thanks for all your help in my early days of searching for info on Playpeople and letting me see the letter from Norman.
Hope you enjoy it here and stay around for a while.
Garry.

Greetings Gyps, and welcome to playmofriends from Shelburne, Vermont!

Oooo! As if you needed to blame anyone for your addiction! :o It would have got you sooner or later anyways ;D
Hope you enjoy it here and stay around for a while.
Garry.
Thank you, kind Sir (I see you've been knighted, so best to use the full title so I won't get into trouble) - and I'm sure I will... Playmofriends strikes just the right note... friendly, enthusiastic...I can see I'll learn muchly while I'm here :D Thank you for all the warm welcomes
On a sadder note, I had an email off Moira, Norman Brown's wife, (founder of Playpeople UK and instigator of the British Bobby figure) to say he passed away this year in November - a sad loss to the Playmo world.
Robbie, I can take no credit at all for the avatar - it's a stop-gap one from the site's provided ones (did Sylvia design these?) but it's so nice I may just keep it :D

Hello & welcome from Diana (aka Psyche) here in Washington State!
Robbie, I can take no credit at all for the avatar - it's a stop-gap one from the site's provided ones...
As I recall Sylvia "made" the ready-to-go avatars from some of the excellent photos on www.collectobil.com but I'm not sure. It is a lovely one and as Robbie note, one of the best figures.
You sound very well informed about Playmobil. I'm happy to make your acquaintance. :D

That's right, I did. :yup:
Some of them I edited slightly (eg. the midnight witch) because they didn't fit the shape or had writing across them. The romani one had part of the Playmo logo across the top of her headpiece so I painted it out. I was keen to include her because she's always been one of my favourite figures. 8-)
The only avatars that weren't sourced from collectobil images are these 2:
(http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/avatars/female/warrior.jpg) (http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/avatars/male/monk.jpg)
They come from photos I shot for playkingdoms (http://www.playkingdoms.com/pk). The custom figures in these 2 pics were made by Sir Brian (aka "Corkscrew" at playmoboard). ;)

Welcome Gyps! Great to see you here!

Hello Gyps, and welcome from Norway :)

That is sad news, in some ways he was like the UK version of Hans Beck, I guess in time more and more people will realise this as they to become addicted to Playpeople.

From the northern US (Wisconsin)
A big welcome to Gyps
I do not know much about Playpeople so I will have to visit you site to learn more about it,
but I do have a prized English Bobby
I am sorry to hear about the death of a comrade who did so much for Playpeople

Lo siento. The Sauvage webpage se fue ... :(
Julie (Gyps) no tiene tiempo sufficiente.
She is a teacher and has a new boyfiend, So, she had to make a choice.
Maybe someday she will be interested in Playmobil again.
-
I too hope Julie returns to us again.
It was her site that sent me on the trail of Playpeople all those years ago.

Hello, Garry ...
I too hope Julie returns to us again.
It was her site that sent me on the trail of Playpeople all those years ago.
Both Julie and I copied all of her Playpeople pages before she shut down her site.
If there are enough members interested, maybe we can host Julie's Playpeople pages somewhere.
All the best,
Richard

Sorry, you know I am new. when you talk about julie is about Julie Shepherd ? I met Hollygolightly some years ago in playmoboard, but I don't know any about her for years, I hope she is fine :) if not, who is julie? :-[
And yes! I'd love the playpeople information because now there are no place in the web about this!!
-
Hi Richard,
It would be good to keep Julie's playpeople pages alive somewhere on the web.
Aleon, I still search for information on Playpeople and I have just made a great discovery but I will start a new post in the collectors corner pages.

"Gyps" is not Julie Shepherd. They only share the same first name and have different surnames. :)
Sorry to say I have no idea what Hollygolightly is up to these days. I heard she sold off quite a lot of her massive Playmobil collection a few years ago, but then she did return to Playmoboard for a brief while after that. She was also a big Lego fan, if I recall correctly.
-
From what I heard from Nessie (who still has some contact with Holly) she's given up Playmobil and has gone over to the other side :o (Lego that is). I do miss her - she's very witty and definitly spiced up the forum :-[
