Hello
We have had over 7 days of rain and after the storms pass I like to take the family out on a hike. This hike was located on the old North Coast Narrow Gauge Railroad (since abandoned) originating in Tiburon on San Francisco Bay, and extending to the Bohemian Grove in Monte Rio, and beyond to Duncans Mills on the Russian River, Camp Meeker was the center of logging the Great Ancient Redwoods that built and then rebuilt San Francisco after the Quake. The hike is easy as it follow the gradual incline of the rail way. Here are some pictures of things we saw today .

It is interesting how much a digital camera will change the mood with just one button ( flash on and off )

Beautiful scenery Rasputin but the forest inhabitants seem a little too, shall we say, primitive for my tastes! :(o): :(o): The photos are excellent and that shot of the inflatable in the water is fantastic!  Thanks for sharing your adventures in the wild with us.

Great shots! I really like seeing the dinos in their natural habitat. What set is that canoe from? Fantastic shot of the canoe in the water, and I see the paddles are being properly used. ;D

love that last shot.

I think we all need to start creating some short photo stories like your latest contributions Ras! Photography & scenery is perfect!
I made mention of this challenge some time ago to start members showing off their collections in photo stories just like these excellent projects to combat the recession effects! There has been other great contributions that photography & story telling have been superb, well done everybody!

Hello
Thank you everyone for the comments :wow: The rafting picture was challenging in that i had to set the tripod in the creek. I had to turn off the flash so the camera wanted to open the shutter for a longer time. I have shaky hands so holding it does not work. I set it up, pushed the shutter button and was hoping the longer shutter would blur out the water and keep the raft/klickies in focus. The raft is actually stuck in a shallow spot . I like how it turned out and it is fun to show the kids how to do photography while playing in the forest.
Thanks again for the kind comments

PS: Tim, yes it is a great trail. It used to have all the hand built wooden trellises not too long ago as well. Kids kept playing on them and finally the county burned them down out of fear that somebody would get killed falling off of them. The route has tunnels and all but most have the entrances dynamited. If you know where they are you can still access them due to people digging them out. Its really creepy inside a long cave and only a tiny access hole. The great part is where I took the dino pictures. It is a 200 foot tall 400 foot long cliff section where the trail was carved into the rock face.

Great photos, Ras. The compositions are wonderful and that canoe shot in the stream is unbelievable. :wow: :wow: :wow:

That final photo really takes the cake. It really looks as if they are moving. :wow:

Yes, the last photo was very impressive! :wow:

Great photos, Ras ... :wow:
I had to look twice at your Pteranodon. I actually thought that he was "flying" until I saw that he had a firm grip on the branch below ... ;D
I must say that you are a very "trusting" photographer. Stuck or not, I would have been afraid that the inflatable canoe would have been swept away and lost forever while I was busily taking pictures.
Too bad about the tunnels and trestles. Perhaps, the only thing that could possibly be better about the trail would be to have the narrow gauge still in operation as a tourist train. I would love to take that ride.
Thanks again and all the best,
Richard

The photos don't show his boys in the stream with nets, just in case!
