Excellent diorama, Peter! I see you have found a water cannon/monitor that goes to the 3526 fire engines, I'm still trying to find some of them myself! Well done!

Now I really am confused 8}! I thought I used what is considered a fire extinguisher for my foam nozzle conversion :hmm:?! And I like noodwachter, thought those other red items that he used to be megaphones! How would they be used as a fire extinguisher without a hose  ????

Hi  :elf:

If you look at all the sets that red piece came in it would appear that Playmobil intended it to be an extinguisher. Some of the sets like Gordon mentioned also came with a gray bull horn. The current extinguisher that Bill used seems to have shown up in 1986-ish. As soon as it came out the one mentioned was phased out. I too always thought it was a classic voice amplifier as you would see at sporting events.

What kind of portable fire extinguisher was it modelled after? I've never seen one like that in this country!

I see now, it would be considered a class A type Acid solution & baking soda powder pressurized Fire Extinguisher here in the USA. From evidence of your pictures a very early design used mainly in the UK & her territories abroad?

Hi Gordon  :elf:

That is an odd looking extinguisher. The oldest one I have is quite simple and is advertised as a toy also

Hi Peter  :elf:

Thanks for the link to the old tread. It must have been one I missed due to my absence. I am always amazed at how all our resident firefighters are such talented customizers ( Gordon, Bill, You, Tim, FireChief sorry if I am missing somebody ).

Not only do you protect & save us from natural disaster in our mortal life you have created armies of well equipped Playmobil rescue teams all over the globe  :wow:

From left to right: fire extinguisher (modern), fire extinguisher (old style), megaphone (pirate sets), loud hailer (early version), then three loud hailers modern version (the yellow one appeared with the fire sets which were introduced in 1996, and the red one with the US fire sets).

Me too, and I'm old enough to have seen those cone-shaped extinguishers hung on walls in the UK, I just didn't relate the Playmobil version to the real-world version, especially as it has the bottom still open.

Great lineup of bullhorns (megaphones) Peter!

Hi  :elf:

You could use the old style extinguisher as a giant champaign bottle  :cham:  :xmascheer:
