Title: What's on your Christmas List?
Post by: Emma.J on November 08, 2009, 20:32:50
The year is flying past and drawing to a close so is it to early to ask

What's in your Christmas Stocking?

Do any of you dare to ask for more Playmobil for Christmas? Or do you only get sensible presents at this time of year?

We have a rule in my family that there are no socks, smelly stuff or boring items to be given as presents only fun stuff - toys films games what ever. :gift:

:help: So two questions really what would you sensibly ask for, for Christmas and what (one item only!) would you like if you could have anything? :yippee: Money no limit rarity not a problem Victorian fence  0) or Japanese roller coaster  >:D  :eh?:

I think I would like some of the new African safari set with the river that can be joined together. I'd like to put it with my Aztec jungle and do a diorama based on King Solomans Mines! :woohoo:

As for a dream item thats a hard choice I think it would be the old western steam engine in black and red the Steaming Mary? with of course lots of track :confetti:

Yippee for Emma  :*) :cham:

This really is a great thread and I love your funny introduction !!!

Christmas ? I was sprinkling snow over a diorama in early September so what can I say ? From December 1st, I drive everyone nuts at the Hotel with Xmas songs and my popularity reaches the subzero zone until the Holiday Season is over

This year ? A Christmas Miracle has landed in my stocking as I will be off from 18/12 to 02/01 starting with a few days cruise on the Rhine to visit the Christmas Markets of Germany's romantic towns and back home with a suitcase full of gingerbread and artisanal decorations...

Why is this year different ? Because this will be my first Christmas at home in 15 years - Hospitality oblige  :yup: - and this is the only present I am looking forward to with lots of cooking, baking, roaring fireplaces, happy conversations and laughters around a glass of grape juice  ;)

I will definitely bring my favorite two little Victorians aka Mr & Mrs Macclesfield who will be joining in the festivities as their little tales have not only kept me busy since September but also very much happy.

My Playmobil Christmas Wish is not in the shops and neither have I the talent to create it  :(
"The Adventures of Tom Sawyer & Huckleberry Finn" with the atmosphere of the South, paddle steamers and St Petersburg will remain a dream for me...

So I will just summarize my feeling by saying "I'll be home for Christmas"

Its great to have you back  ;)

Karim :)

It's about time I finally introduce you to Mr and Mrs Macclesfield   - purchased back in 1990 in Carcassonne and who are currently renting their mansion for movies, from what I heard ;) - and who will be in my suitcase this Christmas :

I got my Christmas present lined up back in June, but it's still unopened because it's currently 5000 miles away.

Thanks to Gepetto allowing me to use him as a courier, I have two of these http://collectobil.com/catalogue/items/5725.htm ready for my Christmas stocking, the only time Steck castle parts have been produced in this darker stone color as far as I know. One set makes only a tiny or incomplete fortification, but two sets should make a nice small castle.

99.9% of the rest of my collection will still be in mid-Atlantic on a cargo ship for Christmas, so these guys will have to take turns attacking and defending.

Gepetto is also holding a Ghost Ship 4806 for me, and a few extra crew (4800 set), so it may become a Ghost pirates vs. Knights Christmas.

Karim - you do realize that "Germany's romantic towns" are also full of Playmobil don't you. Some poor orphan Playmo wishing for a good home for Christmas  0)
  >:D

There are a handful of things I am looking for, but nothing specific for Christmas. Maybe the TRU plane if the local store ever stocks one out.

If I could get anything it would be the 4024 - Diesel Train Set (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=4024)

If I get any PM for Christmas it will be from myself or people outside of the family who understand my obsession! There was a time 11 years back or so that my family got me PM for Christmas, birthday, & even anniversary gifts, but not any more! My wish list for now would be for 2 x 4472 harbor cargo ships, the nautical exploration series, the current road construction theme, & current airport theme  :prays:! PM me for my address if any one wishes to send me any Christmas gifts, cause I've been really good so far this year  :yup:!

Tim

That goes without saying of course and I will most definitely pick up a few companions for Mr & Mrs Macclesfield  ;)

Bill

Your post had me in stitches as I just pictured you singing "Santa Baby" ...

"Think of all the fun I missed, been an awful good Bill
Santa Baby, just slip a couple of harbor cargo ships under the tree

Come and trim my Xmas tree with some PM decorations
next year I can be oh so good if you check off my Xmas list

Santa Honey there's one thing I really do need the nautical exploration series
Been an Angel 0) all year

And fill my stocking with construction & airport themes
I really do believe in you, lets see if you believe in me

Santa baby, hurry down the chimney tonight..."

And for those of you who prefer the original tune...

Hello Christmas

Well I do not get anything Playmobil for Christmas. Seeing as I buy Playmobil year round it really would not be a very special gift. I did get the boys their sets already . Our oldest will get the entire Egyptian theme, the middle will be getting the entire Ghost Pirate theme & the youngest will get the entire Sea Exploration theme.

If there was a set that I could have with out any consideration. Good question  ??? As rare as the 3980 roller coaster is I really do not like how it looks. I like the 3540 house boat but it is too small. I would not want to pick something I could find on Ebay and do not simply buy it due to the prices. I think one that I have never seen for sale and do like and it is just an original color thing is 3277 white construction action set. It is really a hard question as my tastes change with the wind.

Hi Ras'

Just like Bill, I am drooling over the Christmas Presents for your Sons !!!

En entire collection for each of them, they better be good on a 24/7 basis for the next 365 days ...

If the Victorian Theme was still in production, I would definitely be right in line next to Bill for adoption : does Madame fancy a French Brat  ;)?

  Hi Ras,
as you want a daughter I think I might just have a better chance of adoption than the guys and I will share my collection as well.  :P

But be honest are those sets really for yours sons or are you saying your buying them for the kids but really your the one playing with them all!!

I just think it's a great idea  :wow: :wow: :wow:
:hmm: Could it be that these great gifts will look lovely on the top shelf where only you can reach them :hissyfit:

Hello

Yes I must warn all you would be adoptee's . My kids are disciplined and have too earn their keep :whip:. Not saying I literally beat them but they have their jobs and I expect them to be done . Yes the Playmobil is for them, but I do play with it. I am the ones who lets them know if they earned their time with it and how it is to be played with ( in a respectful, gentle indoors way ). They are not allowed to play with only a few older fragile sets for now . They have to clean it all up and put it all away where it belongs on the shelfs. This years Christmas will be a bit odd. It is the first time we will spend it away from home. We are spending it in Santa Barbara with my wifes sisters family ( two sons 7 & 3 ). I used to give them Playmobil until I saw how they were allowed to "play" ( more like destroy ) it .

Bill, how about a picture

Karim with your culinary skills and my appetite maybe my stash of new 5300's and accessory sets may just come in handy yet

Emma, I do seem to really enjoy the collecting part of this ride. As far as the top shelf thing goes, my wife taught them at a young age to use ladders.

The boys have been good this year and in 2008

You have three handsome young men there, Ras!

Santa probably thinks that I'm a greedy old man, but I'd love to have the new Safari and Jungle themes as well as the new Dragon Castle theme ...  ;D

Maybe next year, when they finally get to the USA ... ;)

However, the new bikini girl would help keep me happy during the long wait. Wonder what Santa would think about that ...

I am afraid that Christmas is a nonevent around here due to my mother-in-laws health concerns (it is the time of year when cards act as a roll call as to how many of her friends are left), the only real Playmobil I am actively hunting for is an upright piano for my motley group of musicians (looking for musicians too but they are somewhat easier to come by). I spent last Christmas rounding up all the Advent calendars I wanted (though I still don't have a sleigh with a full complement of reindeer) so this will be a relatively quiet time.

My Christmas wish would be for Playmobil to re-issue the classic Medieval and Western buildings and especially set #3749 Longhorn Trail.  Whatever western sets and figures I ever get, to have enough of these to have a trail herd for rustlers to fight over.

Hello, Gepetto ...

I've read your post at least a half dozen times.

And, I just had to respond. I feel so bad for you. Christmas should be a time of blue boxes and joy for all of us. What can we do to help? It gives me great pain to read that Gepetto (the toymaker) is going to be unhappy during this coming holiday season ...  :'(

How can we cheer you up? Do we need to come rescue you and take you away to a happier place full of sugar plum fairies and gum drops?

Please help us to help you!

All the best,
Richard

To the best of my memory, Ras ... The "upright piano" was only offered in the Victorian set 5551. And, that was some twenty years ago!

Even for Santa, this will not be an easy find.
(Maybe Karim can help?)

There is one on eBay ... Click HERE (http://cgi.ebay.com/Playmobil-Pianist-Black-Electronic-Upright-Piano-5551_W0QQitemZ250530658766QQcmdZViewItemQQimsxZ20091115?IMSfp=TL091115161001r17790) ...  :yippee:

There are no bids. Bidding starts at $14.99 and bidding is over tomorrow morning (Nov 21, 2009  11:04:55 PST).

I don't have an eBay account ... and, we don't want to bid against each other.

Who can bid? And, we can all donate something toward the final cost?

Hi Richard

There are currently six (http://toys.shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=5551&_sacat=2575&_trksid=p3286.m270.l1313&_odkw=&_osacat=2575) on Ebay right now. The 5551 Piano typically goes for around $50ish if it is complete . It is a great idea and I would contribute  :)9 . The auction you linked ends at 11am and we are planning a day at the beach with the boys . I would be unavailable to snipe at the last second to win  ;)

bidding is over tomorrow morning (Nov 21, 2009  11:04:55 PST).

Morning  ???  the day is half over by 11am

I don't mean to dampen anyone's spirits, I still enjoy Christmas but it is just different now. When you hear the same music all the time sometimes you find yourself humming the tune even if you don't like the song.

I try to bid on all the pianos that i can find but they get out of sight so quickly, Bill has shown me some options on eBay.de that I will try to persue. I appreciate your thoughts Richard and Bill but I do not wish anyone to put themselves out on my behalf. Thank you though!    (if I can't find a piano it is just that much more money for the Mongols when they come out).

However as I've been so busy lately I'll be quite happy to be given some time to play with the Playmobil I've got...  ;D

Hi Sylvia

No wonder you are so capable and diplomatic at not only managing but also nurturing & disciplining a large group . Six children is so uncommon in these parts nowadays and the usual excuse is how expensive it can be. We or actually I wanted 6 and my wife just laughed . I should have known to just take it one at a time . Each time a child got to around 2 she was ready for the next . She is always telling me how hard it is to find people with similar 3 boy situations but 6 , 3 to you must seem like a cake walk  ;)

Congratulations on your lucky large family  :**:

Although I do wonder umm.. was this just a ploy so you could get each child hooked on a different Playmobil theme? Lets see you'll have covered Victorian, Egyption, Knights, fairytale, Modern living and say the western  :P

Having had a closer look at the 4296 Church, I'm likely to invest in a couple for Christmas, as it's a very versatile set, as shown by a couple of posters here who have created some wonderful cathedrals.

For once I'm glad they don't put many figures in, as I'd be using it in a historical context and the figures are surplus to requirements.

Hi  :-[

Sorry I am one of those snipers  ;D I just can not seem to find a better way to win auctions that to wait till the last 10 seconds to act on it . I usually will open up about 4 separate windows on the screen and have each one loaded and ready, that way I do not have down time reloading . I have even come up with ways to handle other snipers trying to fix their cross hairs on me  >:D

just wanna change this into Pirateships. Just bought 4 on EBay, can't wait until they arrive so that my pirates collection grows bigger and also my regiment of English (can't seem to be able to translate, perhaps it's not correct, we call them over here) "redheads", so that I can start chasing them.

Off topic : might I say that the button of "spell check" is really superb !!! I don't waist time with thinking "good/not good" !!!
