Hi guys,
I recently got this sethttp://www.collectobil.com/catalogue/items/3606.htm (http://www.collectobil.com/catalogue/items/3606.htm) in a big lot of playmobil. I like it a lot, sadly two parts are missing. Currently I am bleaching the yellowed parts and after that I plan to paint them with markers, but sadly I don't have any playmobil markers, are there other brands (from Europe preferably) that can be used?

wow highlandcattle, a 3606. :o
some years ago i decided that i was not including the color pirate sets in my wish list.
one of the reasons was the markers.
sometimes there are some for sale on german ebay but i guess, being so old (even if they were never used), that they will be useless.
i am sure there are new markers that "work" on playmo-plastic - i forgot its composition but i am pretty sure there is a thread somewhere where BASF or some other chemical company talks about this.
good luck. :)

They are almost completely bleached, one more day I suppose :)
What was the original intend of plymobil markers that you were able to erase it or not?
-
The set has now been bleached :)

Javel
Isn't Javel regular bleach, like Clorox in the US? Could you please tell us the details such as what dilution with water (if any) and the amount of time the bleach is left on the plastic?
The results look fabulous, HC! :wow:

I used regular La Croix Javel (which i think is the most famous brand here in Belgium) with Pinetree smell ;D.
I used the stuff pure in a special pot, so I can reuse the bleach again. It is very bad for the enviroment so I refrain from using it in the household.I left it for two days in there
Arab warrior: I'm not looking to complete it. I'm looking for replacement markers :prays:

Great set Highlandcattle! In fact I still have this set from the old days. Interesting how you bleached is, I might give it a try sometime. I also still have two set of markers but they are dried oud. I keep them for old time's sake ;D.
I wonder how the hands on your color set are. On my color sets almost al hands are broken. The hands broke quite easy on the color sets I remember, even when they were new. The plastic seems a bit more brittle.

Hello, Anne ...
It all appears to be the same stuff. Javex (Canada) and Clorox (USA) are the same company. A couple of years ago the US Clorox Company bought all of North America and Latin America bleach operations from Colgate-Palmolive. Colgate-Palmolive apparently still owns Javel in Europe. Click HERE (http://www.wikinvest.com/stock/Clorox_Company_%28CLX%29) for more information.
Regardless, bleach is bleach whether is called Javel, Javex, or Clorox! ... ;)

What ever the stuff was called the result is brilliantly clear . Great job and thanks for showing
I wonder if this will work on the old western white plastic parts ??? but then it might not have that weathered dirty realism that would come from living in that era ;)

Excellent result highlandcattle, also finnaly a product I can find in a shop around here!

I have used permanent markers from EDDING, i think that's what they're called.
Nowadays they come in all colours and sizes, instead of the regular black, red, blue end green.
It's not the same quality as the old playmobil markers, they tend to stay sticky a bit (even after weeks of drying) but the colours are very bright and draw the same like the old ones.

I have a few Color sets but haven't ever tried actually coloring them. I would guess the art markers like Prismacolor would do a good job, but that's just a guess. I actually really like the all white accessories of the Color sets. Combined with the white figures from the Roman Arena set they make great classical sculpture.

Very clever use of the unpainted "COLOR" Playmobil. Tim!
Another brilliant idea from you that I'm going to "borrow" ... ;)
-
Thanks Tim, I like the way you have presented those figures. Good idea!

Anyone else think those white figures have a mystical air over them?
-
I like them so much and the way Tim uses them I am just going to paint some extra old Klickies . really I am just impatient and have enough on my watch lists for auction sites
Thanks Highland and Tim for the inspiration :wow:

No prob, Ras ;)
Tim, I remember that picture from Laughing Giraffe and it is one of the reasons I got back into Playmobil!
