Title: Rifles
Post by: Gustavo on October 11, 2009, 03:37:00
I was talking about the tips of the traditional model of rifles (before the winchester model, for western sets), and I found out that the short tips weren't Troll's invention: I found them in Playmobil.de Archiv :P

The first picture with a long rifle tip I found is in a set from 1986. (Love it, by the way: one of my 5 favourites! ... Once someone lauched a survey.)

Sets are attached below.

(So, the only Troll invention appears to be the trigger in the rifle of that model: yes, Troll rifles had triggers ;D 8} )

----
Ps. "Scholfields" were grey, knives were black; nowadays, the guns are black, and the knives grey ... :P

A HISTORY OF RIFLE,
& OTHER BITS

So, I opened this thread because I began to collect a few images, searching for the short rifle, and when it changed, so I'll show all the pictures that I gathered here, and speak a little about them.

These below (attached) are:

#1, the bayonet in the old kind of rifle (with the short tip), & in the times when silver bits were still most of them shining (now, a few of them are dull, which is good, to me, because that shining looks is a painting, and it leaves, in time, while the dull silver and gold is the plastic colour, and it isn't lost with time);

& #2, the arabian rifle, which was never produced (that I know) in dull silver, or gold, and that could, once it's a very nice accessory, and it might go well with many sets, specially now that we have pyramids, around! :yup: ...

Both sets date back, in the Archiv, from 1980.

Gustavo, very interesting info and I have been following . Once I get some new batteries in our camera I will be able to take some pics of the gold Arabian rifles that I have . Actually gold is the only color that i have . I do agree it would be nice to see this one make its rounds again.

I would like to see the "Troll" rifle with the trigger as I do not remember if I have ever seen one

in 1995 there was a brief come-back of the bedouin family.  :yup:
a "special" was released: the 4521 araber (i am not going to comment on playmobil's choice of words to describe non-german realities).
i don't have this set but in its picture on playmobil.de the "arab" seems to be holding a golden rifle.  :hmm:
could this be the one you are looking for gustavo?
  ???

I had completely forgotten this Arab but, indeed, the rifle has been given a new edition, however very short ... Indeed, this is a beautiful Special! :yup:

(Now that you mentioned, Ras, I noticed that the sheriff attached above has a rifle without the extra handle. This is a variation that I never had noticed. (The cavalry rifle, a little below, is the closest we had, made by Troll: short tip, with the second handle.) The arabian shiny silver rifle that I had also had the second handle.)

I do not think I have any of those short rifles with the trigger . It looks a lot more realistic and maybe that is why Playmobil does not put them in . Its hard for a kid to squeeze the trigger if there isn't one  ;)

PS: Send Gepetto a PM about it
