Title: Newly revised PCIAFD foam tender.
Post by: Bill Blackhurst on September 29, 2009, 14:21:05
Hello everyone!
I've been at it again! After my original submission of my Playmobil City International Airport Fire Department foam tender fire truck, I've been revising, & upgrading some of the equipment of this unit, & these are pictures of the new designs. The 2 water monitor/cannons have been upgraded to large volume nozzle foam distribution types. Both water cannons have had 2 large quartz halogen scene spot lights added for night time use. The spot lights move in conjunction with the movement of the water cannons. The 2 water cannons each have independent closed circuit television cameras added, so the pump engineer can see the function of their performance from inside of the cab during the pump, & roll operation. The pump engineer has 2 overhead display monitors to watch the water cannons function. The pump can be activated, & operated from either outside by a manual pump control panel or inside by electronic laptop computer control. This truck is to be operated by a minimum of 2 personnel, or more at all times. A driver, a pump engineer/operator/truck commander, & backup personnel are assigned to this apparatus. I hope you enjoy the pictures, & the story describing the creations.

That is VERY impressive, Bill.  Great work and adaptation of existing PM parts.  The CCTV camera is a litle gem of an idea - who would have thought a short length of hose could be turned into a piece of high-tec equipment?   :wow: :wow: :wow:

Thank you Gordon, for the positive review  :-[! It's amazing when you can "pretend" what you can devise !

Awesome, Bill. It amazes me how you can find so many different uses for Playmobil bits. I really like the Computer monitors for controls.  8-) Cool stuff. Great job.

There’s a new type of airport fire engine with a “lance” that allows the firefighters to punch right through the skin of the aircraft and put foam into the cabin. ¿Any way to include that? Just thinking…

It's amazing you are asking me about that design ;)! I'm currently doing an exact PM version of the bayonet/lance foam nozzle as we speak! It's to be unveiled in the next couple of weeks! I currently now have 2 foam tenders, 1 that is waiting for some parts from PM, & abroad, the second one is waiting for some refurbished items due to arrive in the near future. The trucks even have an updated version CCTV monitor screen due to an issue that will be discussed during the preview ;D! I'm working on this recommendation, so keep an eye out for the final apparatus! Thank you for your interest!

this looks so stock, and considering I don't even know what it originally used to look like, if I didn't know any better I wouldn't be able to tell it is a custom (that's a compliment).  The only intuitive give-away that it is in fact a custom IMO is the fact that it is REALLY DETAILED, moreso than I would expect a stock playmobil toy to be.  Other than that, your use of stock playmo tidbits makes it difficult for a firefighting layperson such as myself to know what's normal, and what's custom.

Well done Bill!  I LOVE IT!!!

btw....what DID it used to look like beforehand?

Thank you very much, Atto :). You can look at what the 3526 Fire Engines look like in original condition in the Collector's Corner board, topic title: 3526 EUC fire engine review, I did a while back.
