Frenchtown is to the southwest of Charlotte Amalie.

The pirates who immigrated to Frenchtown came from the French Caribbean island of St.Barthelemy (http://www.st-barths.com/a_cam/). St.Barthelemy (St.Barts) was first settled by the French in 1648 it was not suitable for plantations, so it served mainly as a base for French pirates preying on Spanish galleons. Even today, many of the older people in Frenchtown still speak Creole.

Thanks for the sunshine in the photos
Its grey and bleak up north

in less than 1 week, I will be in the sun,  too.

The one night we stayed in Charlotte Amelie, (because of an early plane the next morning)
it was on the western side of the town, up on a hill  (?Blackbeards hill)
We walked the port, and its dazzling array of shops.

Some people do not live the wonderful life of a pirate, Tim

I love seeing the photos.
Its wonderful to see such enticing places.

And when will you be taking to the sea?
A pirate doesnt like to stay on land too long  ;)

Oh, Meg, Meg, Meg ... EVERYONE'S got a little pirate in 'em ;)

But, for just a touch of silliness ... here's one of the little guy's bedtime tunes:

Do Pirates wear pajamas?
Do Cowboys brush their teeth?
Do Dragons wash behind their ears, before they go to sleep?

Do Unicorns do homework?
Do Fairies wipe their feet?
Do Jousting Knights look both ways, before they cross the street?

Do Mermaids have to take a bath?
Do Pixies eat their greens?
Do Goblins pick up all their toys, to keep their bedrooms clean?

Dear Matey Mine…

I likes to wear pajamas.
I often brush me teeth.
But I dream that I’m a Dragon, when I go to sleep.

Frenchtown looks like heaven compared to Inverness, right now! 8-)
Really envying Tim Dawkins for having those bright blue skies overhead and such a lovely harbour area to visit.
I just hope Chi-Chi doesn't fall in. :o (Can he swim, btw?)

Shall I add it to the calendar? ;D

edit: I just double-checked the official site (http://www.talklikeapirate.com/piratehome.html) and TLAPD is September 19th. Let's hope Dawkins didn't hear all that 'whispering' with the wrong date.
