Title: Knights left unattended
Post by: Rasputin on September 04, 2009, 00:29:20
Well with the recent purchase of knights and the review pictures the knights were left unattended . Like unsupervised children they seem to get "ideas" . Two of these were of world domination and drinking .

"Ah" Sir Garth said with a grown  "you see that small out post, lets take it" .

"Sounds good to me" Hermi said excitedly

With the quick action of Nick the Brave the attack was challenged immediately

(http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/3636/p1010002gi.jpg) (http://img156.imageshack.us/i/p1010002gi.jpg/)

The two powerful knights, both armed with their heavy axes began the dual

But unfortunately for Nick, Sir Garth was a bit more motivated. Nick could tell with every strike.

(http://img513.imageshack.us/img513/6800/p1010004b.jpg) (http://img513.imageshack.us/i/p1010004b.jpg/)

Then suddenly a large spear came crashing into the post. "Ha ha ha " laughed Hermi. Nicks trusted assistant took a sever hit.

(http://img2.imageshack.us/img2/4429/p1010005pp.jpg) (http://img2.imageshack.us/i/p1010005pp.jpg/)

But things were not looking good for Nick either. A heavy hitting blow deflected by his helmet

(http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/2882/p1010006je.jpg) (http://img134.imageshack.us/i/p1010006je.jpg/)

And as it deflected off his helmet, Sir Garth's ax shered off the beloved decoration. "No, my unicorn" Nick cries out

(http://img42.imageshack.us/img42/2632/p1010007yp.jpg) (http://img42.imageshack.us/i/p1010007yp.jpg/)

His cries were quickly silences with a back handed blow from Sir Garth's shield "ooph"

(http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/6861/p1010009j.jpg) (http://img84.imageshack.us/i/p1010009j.jpg/)

Then as Sir Garth readies his final blow

(http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/8158/p1010011l.jpg) (http://img84.imageshack.us/i/p1010011l.jpg/)

"I just muusst reach oooh the aaaah triggerrrr blaaaa" Nick's assistant queasily said in his final moment

(http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/6466/p1010014.jpg) (http://img84.imageshack.us/i/p1010014.jpg/)

"POOOF !" with a silencing sound the heavy spear sails through the air striking Sir Garth

(http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/9096/p1010013eb.jpg) (http://img253.imageshack.us/i/p1010013eb.jpg/)

"Nooooo why you !" Hermi yells with great anger as he pulls out his sword

(http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/2535/p1010015mr.jpg) (http://img87.imageshack.us/i/p1010015mr.jpg/)

Hermi charges Nick

(http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/8528/p1010016o.jpg) (http://img87.imageshack.us/i/p1010016o.jpg/)

Nick is able to muster up some last energy to not only pull out his sword but to also defend himself

(http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/2044/p1010017i.jpg) (http://img87.imageshack.us/i/p1010017i.jpg/)

but his energy is short lived and the weight of the sword is too much

(http://img34.imageshack.us/img34/2481/p1010018u.jpg) (http://img34.imageshack.us/i/p1010018u.jpg/)

He is able to duck one last time as he looses his cape

(http://img512.imageshack.us/img512/6421/p1010019ey.jpg) (http://img512.imageshack.us/i/p1010019ey.jpg/)

Now his only salvation is to try and run for it, yelling "aaaaaah somebody help me, please"

(http://img223.imageshack.us/img223/9632/p1010020e.jpg) (http://img223.imageshack.us/i/p1010020e.jpg/)

Before he is even able to get to the stairs Hermi's blow is so strong it slices like a hot knife through butter

(http://img223.imageshack.us/img223/1209/p1010021l.jpg) (http://img223.imageshack.us/i/p1010021l.jpg/)

and again to the other arm

(http://img527.imageshack.us/img527/2526/p1010022p.jpg) (http://img527.imageshack.us/i/p1010022p.jpg/)

Then as Nick pleads with Hermi "Please I will " Hermi does not even let him finish the sentence

(http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/8042/p1010023dp.jpg) (http://img140.imageshack.us/i/p1010023dp.jpg/)

Triumphantly Hermi raises the new flag exhausted, and sad but very thirsty

(http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/2882/p1010024ht.jpg) (http://img136.imageshack.us/i/p1010024ht.jpg/)

"Ahhhh now that was why we came here" Hermi said victoriously

Excellent story, Ras  :wow:! With an interesting use of Play Doh for gruesome effects  :)9!

Thanks Bill, I had to go to the TRU for it and I wanted blood red and not some emasculated color . This was the only red they had and it was in a 6 lbs bucket . I have enough blood for a huge battle. I wonder if there is something else that would also work and would be more of a black red like real blood . It would be better if it was more like Picture-Tack as Play-Doh is not easy to mold in detail. I guess i need to go shopping again

PS:  I just can not remember if we agreed it is easier to read if the text is above or below the picture ?

Great camera angles and action shots Ras! You've really done well getting the focus on the action and getting a sense of movement into every shot. Shame 3 of the 4 protagonists are now daisy food! I feel sorry for Nick's assistant who hardly gets a look in, and remains the unknown warrior.

The Play-doh blood works for me, it's not a product I have much experience of, I used to use Plasticine for temporary modelling, but it tended to stick too well and be hard to remove afterwards. I don't think they did a blood red colour anyway.

Text above the pictures works well, you read the description and then enjoy the picture. I've tended to do text below, but as long as a storyteller remains consistent within the story either works.

Greate story and well photographed, especially the work with depth of field.

I wonder if this thread also needs a disclaimer for children, showing violent content and especially extreme customization ...  ???

 ;)

That's true, Martin, but it leaves room for the sequel!

Great story and photography, Ras.  I think Martin has said all that can be said about the technical standards and artistic effect and I echo his words wholeheartedly.  I'd only add that the use of a simple, out of focus background so that the background becomes irrelevant is a master stroke.

Thank you very much Martin

Thank you Jo , and you know i did think about it ( the disclaimer )  ::)

Playmofire , thank you as well . I also really like the outcome of picking one object that draws you attentions and the rest of the scene is still there just all blurry

Karim , thanks, I am glad you like gory knights but my influence is more of a Monty Python-ish , I really do not like that Quin Tartino kid

Just some stats for aspiring story tellers- It took less than an hour to shoot and about 1/2 hour to post so please people get those cameras shooting

I am afraid a 3lb bucket of red playdoh could fuel Rasputin's 'enthusiasm' for action, but very well done and photographed. :wow:

Funny you mentioned Monty Python.  As Nick was getting dismembered, I kept thinking of the Black Knight's dismemberment at the hands of King Arthur:  "It's only a flesh wound..."
